I saw this film on Canadian satellite recently and thought it was absolutely terrible. It's a prime example of why Canadian film has struggled so much over the decades - it's pompous, detached, self important and pretentious. It is immediately recognizable as Canadian and more significantly, from the taxpayer-subsidized National Film Board. We had to watch a lot of NFB stuff in school in the 60s and 70s. I like it even less now than I did then.
The plot concerns a spoiled, middle class husband who struggles with his mid-life crisis. The woeful and self-pitying dialogue is beyond belief and even more embarrassing is the obvious symbolism of the final scene - absolutely cringe inducing. This is no "dusty gem" as described by a previous poster, rather a national embarrassment....
