Documentary on the life of Micheal Ray Richardson, a man who, in the seventies, was on track to creating one of the greatest careers in NBA history. Had the bottom not fallen out, Michael Jordan would have had to work himself out of Richardson's shadow. Few have even heard of him, of course, and this no-nonsense film shows you why. Beautiful vintage NBA footage is mixed with interviews with sports personalities and former coaches. Amazingly, none of the commentaries come off as obvious or dry. Everyone has something interesting or insightful to say ! And then there are the heartbreaking interviews with Richardson himself. The filmmakers make it easy for us to become emotionally involved in this story. One of the best sports documentaries ever made.

Remember this special? TNT show this. I have it taped. Its a great story about Michael Ray Richardson: A great basketball player that ruined his career because of drugs. He did them because he was so upset about the fact that all of his friends and coaches left because of trades and coaching oppurnities.
A touching story with Chris Rock narrating and telling us about what he thought about Michael Ray.
Denifitely recommended if you can find it.

Great Film

This is definitely a great film. This is movie is a great example of what could happen when potential is wasted. I saw Michael Ray's story and couldn't help but be a little heart-broken at his failed NBA career. Chris Rock's voice was not as comical as it normally is and it is easy to forget that he is the narrator. I encourage anyone who has aspirations to play pro sports to see this movie.
