Gone Curling is a short "humorous" film about a small town's (and I suppose by extension, a good part of Canada's) obsession with curling, which is a sport played on ice with brooms and what looks like big clay pots. The premise is that a salesman (played by the movie's director John Howe) visits a town that seems to be deserted. It turns out that everyone in the town is so besotted with curling that they can't get any work done. Once he looks into the sport, the salesman becomes equally obsessed. The humorous aspect of this film fails completely. It is so corny that it is hard to believe anyone ever found it funny. It does work as a brief introduction to curling, but anyone truly interested in the sport would be better served by tracking down the much better (and funnier) feature film Men With Brooms.
