While the plots to Clark & McCullough's films hardly were normal or believable, "The Iceman's Ball" takes weirdness to a new level! The story begins with the pair being tossed out of the Policeman's Ball...presumably because they aren't police. However, they respond by stealing a police car and driving it to the local station to drop it off. However, they soon decide that it would be fun to be cops...and the pair don uniforms and go on patrol! Soon, they are sent to break up a loud party....and end up increasing the volume considerably as they lead the revelry! What's next? Well, they call the police commissioner (James Finlayson) and tell him to join them! Little do they know that one of the women who is in partying with Clark is the wife of a beat cop (Vernon Dent) whose car they stole at the beginning of the film! And, guess who has just arrived at the party?!
So, is it any good? Very much so. In fact, it's better than most of the team's short films. Clever and pretty funny and, as usual, McCullough has very little to do in this one.
