Chrissy Metz is clearing the air.
The This Is Us star made headlines when it surfaced that she may be contractually obligated to lose weight while on the hit NBC show, where she plays Kate, who happens to be on a weight-loss journey. The 36-year-old actress later appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, where she addressed the speculation.
“It wasn’t contracted, it wasn’t mandated that I had to do this, but I knew that this was going to happen in the trajectory of the character and so it wasn’t a big deal,” Metz told Et’s Katie Krause at 102.7 Kiis-fm’s Jingle Ball at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Friday.

Click through and follow along. 5:33 p.m. Pacific. The first question is for Lee Daniels' Lee Daniels. "It's hard. That show is my life. 'Empire' is my life. The only criticism we can think of for Misha Collins' directorial debut on "Supernatural?" Still no Cas.
But hey, since the angelic actor was behind the camera for Tuesday (March 25) night's episode, "Mother's Little Helper," that's to be expected. And if that's the only criticism we've got -- and it is -- then it's pretty safe to say that Collins' first time in the director's chair was a smashing success. His episode was equal parts exciting, creepy, emotional, explanatory and set the tone for the final few episodes of Season 9. Namely: Abaddon's building an army by force, and the only way to stop her is to have Dean give in to his new addiction of killing.
Neither option is all too preferable. With Crowley sitting on the throne in Hell, at least the Winchesters know where they stand. Crowley signs contracts and does all his deals with the consent...

We knew that with the introduction of Wade and Vivian's relationship, "Zade" would hit a major roadblock for a while on "Hart of Dixie." But oh my god, I have never wanted to reach through my TV and strangle a character more than I did watching Monday (Jan. 13) night's midseason premiere, "Something to Talk About," when Zoe's level of denial about her feelings for Wade reached epic proportions.
We all know how she feels about her ex: she's still in love with Wade. Wade knows it. Annabeth now knows it. Joel finally got an inkling of it. Vivian even touched on it when she was talking to Zoe. And yet ... Zoe continues to deny having any kind of feelings for Wade. At all. And that's just dumb.

It took the entire second half of Season 3, but Jenna finally became the best version of herself in the "Awkward" season finale on Tuesday (Dec. 17). Actually, it could be argued that it took three full seasons for her to reach this point, since her journey to becoming a good friend -- and a better person -- all began with The Letter.
It was great to see a callback to the incident that started it all way back in the pilot, when Jenna received the carefrontation letter from an anonymous source. When she later found out the cruel letter came from her mother, that kickstarted the rebuilding of Jenna's relationship with her mother that culminated in the Season 3b finale. Jenna and Lacey had been working on their mother/daughter bond ever since Jenna asked her about The Letter, and though Jenna's recent "sanity sabbatical" halted all they had achieved, they...

The Good Wife occasionally will feature cases based on current events, while putting its own spin on them.
During The Good Wife season 4, the topics have included: the Nato summit protests in Chicago, hazing and spousal privilege for same-sex spouses. In "Rape: A Modern Perspective," three separate headlines were integrated into the hour, including "Anonymous" helping uncover evidence in a rape investigation, Bitcoin and the Justice Department's investigation into Aaron Swartz.
There was so much going on in this episode that it would have been easy for it to become cumbersome, but that never took place. Instead, the numerous storylines were well-written and integrated together in a cohesive manner.
Alicia and Will helped a young woman, Rainey, sue her rapist in civil court when he made a plea deal that kept him out of jail and freed him to attend Princeton. Similar to real cases, "Anonymous" took an interest and...

For a show often comprised of caricatures instead of characters, Glee sure knows how to flip the tone from silly to serious with the snap of a finger.
Or the shooting of a gun as the case was on tonight's return episode, "Shooting Star."
In the shadow of real-world issues with guns and violence and school shootings, television shows have to tread carefully to pay respect to the severity of the issues while also staying true to their characters and storytelling. In that regard, tonight's episode of Glee was spot-on. Bravo, Glee.
I came into tonight's episode with baited breath. From the synopsis, I guessed that the main story would feature a school shooting. As a former high school teacher, I was nervous to see which direction the writers would take. Would they employ a bullying storyline? Tackle another suicide attempt? Would there be a crazed gunman on the loose...

What tricks can your dog do? Miley Cyrus is on the latest cover of Marie Claire, and she tells the mag that one of the five rescue dogs she shares with fiance Liam Hemsworth poops diamonds. Literally.

There are a couple of soundbites from Kristen Stewart's June Elle feature which are still making headlines to this day.
First, she told the publication she wanted "something crazy" to happen to her, and voila! She's found herself in the middle of one of the year's biggest Hollywood scandals. And now a second quote from her feature in Elle has come to fruition... this time, very much in her favor.
According to Vulture, Kristen Stewart has landed the coveted lead role in "Lie Down in Darkness," the William Styron book-to-film adaptation she was gushing over to the mag.
She'd told Elle, "Have you ever read 'Lie Down in Darkness'? ... I want to play Peyton more than anything I can possibly taste or touch in my life. I want to play her so bad. Peyton is bright, beautiful, suicidal narcissist, preyed upon by her father ... Oh, dude, she f**kin' loves it!

With Max, she just went for it, it was a game, an ego thing. But she cares for Alfie and she can't help but be in love with him," she told the Sunday Mirror. "She'll fish for compliments (more)...

Kate Winslet is in line to make her theatre debut. The 'Contagion' actress has spoken several times with David Hare about him directing her in a play called 'Skylight' opposite Bill Nighy and, following three months of negotiations, is now looking to clear her schedule to appear in the production. A source said: ''She's in love with the play and would very much like to do it.'' However, it is claimed there are some ''obstacles of a private nature'' that could prevent the actress - who has two children, Mia, 11, and eight-year-old Joe, from her two marriages - from taking part as...

It's been a season in the making, but one very crucial element of the game-changing "How I Met Your Mother" wedding finally revealed itself during the Season 6 finale.
While the bride -- both the wedding's and Ted's future one who he meets while performing best man duties -- remains a secret, Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) is unmasked as the groom. But will he be walking down the aisle with the Nora (Nazanin Boniadi) or Robin (Cobie Smulders)?
First, let's settle a few things.
"Himym" starts the episode by taking a few years off of my life with a quick Zoey cameo (Jennifer Morrison), followed by the casual suggestion that Ted (Josh Radnor) might actually get back together with her. His default mode is "sentimental fool," so when the construction foreman (guest Chi McBride) stresses him out with a question of what kind of light bulb he wants in the building,...

Why am I reviewing a novelization for a movie? Good question. This isn't normally my thing and in case you were wondering, the studio releasing the movie in question isn't paying me to do it either, that's for sure. Being an online journalist for a major movie news website is not as lucrative as it sounds. I still need to supplement my income with additional work. For about, oh, I guess five years now, I've been working weekends at Barnard College/Columbia University here in New York. Basically I work in an all girls dorm and I collect the ID's of their boyfriends as I sign them in and out of the log book. My job's pretty simple and it pays pretty well, but it also gives me the opportunity to meet new an interesting people. Sarah Blakley-Cartwright is one of those people whom I happened to meet during the 2009-10 school year,...

"The Vampire Diaries" stars haven't yet seen scripts for the inevitably epic Season 2 finale, so they're just as anxious as we are to find out how everything will come to a climax. "I'm just curious as to what the hells going to happen," series star Ian Somerhalder tells MTV. "Season 1 was such a great journey and it took us all for a ride. I don't know anything. Which is kind of like life."
Not having a script to flip through doesn't stop Somerhalder from imagining his own personal dream ending for the season. "What I would like to see is, is I would like to see Damon kidnap Elena and then go to the Caribbean," he says. "We'll go to Paris first, then they go looking for her, and then they disappear to the Caribbean for a season or something, while everyone frantically searches for them."
Yes, 'shippers, Somerhalder is firmly on Team "Delena.

Contrary to the circulating rumor, Avril Lavigne will not flaunt her romance with Brody Jenner on the small screen. While words were swirling around that Brody is looking forward to immortalize his romance with the "Complicated" singer in a new reality show, an agent for the 26-year-old TV personality has told Gossip Cop he is "not working on a reality show."
In Touch magazine has previously brought up the story that the stepbrother of Kim Kardashian has been pitching a reality show that will follow his romance with Avril. "Brody came up with the idea for a reality show, and he's begging Avril to do it," Brody's pal claimed. "She's in love with him, but isn't sure about it, yet she doesn't want to tell him no."
Avril has filed for divorce from her Sum 41 rocker husband Deryck Whibley in October 2009. She has reportedly started dating Brody in February...

Another rumor put to rest, Avril Lavigne is not heading to reality show anytime soon. It was reported by In Touch Weekly that the singer is persuaded by rumored lover Brody Jenner, who has had a reality show experience himself through "The Hills", to star with him in a new one.
In Touch's insider said Brody is "determined" to increase his star meter and he plans to show America that he's dating world-class singer Avril. "Brody came up with the idea for a reality show, and he's begging Avril to do it," Avril's so-called pal said. "She's in love with him, but isn't sure about it, yet she doesn't want to tell him no."
Digging truth out of the story, Gossip Cop contacted Brody's agent who supposedly pitched the show to networks. The agent said his client is not working on anything near a reality show.

Happy Valentine's Day, kids. Hope you've all got loved ones to squeeze today, and have better things planned than to see schmaltzy, unchallenging romance flicks like, er, Valentine's Day. Submitted for your approval is a list of movies in the spirit of love that aren't your typical rom-coms or melodramas—the unusual suspects with something a little strange accompanying the couplings.
Rather than just list movies with romance between quirky characters, though, since many people would be quick to name unconventional couples like Harold and Maude or Bonnie and Clyde, how about we seek the more trying scenarios? Here are some movies that attain sweet, robust romance even in situations that are normally hard to swallow. But you don't need to make sense of love to get it.

Oasis (2002)
Why it's weird? It begins with rape.
In most relationships, when the man rapes the woman, what follows is usually the end.

Somewhere in Hollywood there's a lonely Kindle lying in the middle of a street, and it belongs to Paul Feig. He requested that anyone finding it let him know via Twitter today, where posting was a bit slow due to many of the movie industry's tweeters being on vacation. There were still plenty of shout-outs both good and bad about "Avatar" and "Sherlock Holmes," though, the latter of which was so packed that even Nicky Hilton couldn't get in.
There needs to be a special award for Dave Coulier today, who linked to a re-lyric'd performance of a Taylor Swift song dedicated to Uncle Jesse from "Full House" -- and anyone who follows Twitter-Wood knows that I can't resist retweeting a good "Full House" post. Check it out after the jump along with Kevin Smith's outlook on "Iron Man 2" and Brian Lynch's evaluation of his Wikipedia profile.

Eastwick is an easy win for me, though if you read a lot of other reviews on the internets you'd think I was the only person that actually liked this show. I don't actually believe such nonsense, and I think there's a strong audience out there just waiting for this kind of series. So don't always believe what you read, take a chance, and give this show a watch (or at the very least a DVR) tonight, and see for yourself. Or, you can read on to hear my reasons for watching it.
