- This is a pirate movie, so there is some sword fighting, cannon battles, and knife fights.
- Jim Hawkins hangs a man from the ship's mast in self defense.
- The scene where Long John, Jim, and the pirates find the treasure ends differently than endings in other film version and the book. When Captain Smallot and his men arrive to ambush them, he and his men are all killed in a shootout, along with the pirates who turned on Long John. Long John, Jim, and Ben Gunn are the only one who leave the Island with the treasure.
