The Odd Couple Starring Walter Cronkite and Robin Williams
boblipton25 August 2018
This short cartoon was the brainchild of Jerry Rees. He believed that the tour at the Disney Florida Studio concentrated on the technical side of animation, the part that every studio did. To illustrate the creative side, he wanted Robin Williams as a tourist who gets turned into an animated "Lost Boy" from Peter Pan, and Walter Cronkite, the staid, trustworthy news anchorman, to serve as balance... and possibly remind people of Walt Disney himself. Both, as it turned out, admired each other. According to witnesses, they passed the tme with each other telling dirty jokes.

Tobin Williams ad-libbed so much that they extended the recording session and John Clements and Ron Musker had the role of the Genie in ALADDIN specifically written for Williams.

So funny! Genius!

This was a great show that was at Disney's MGM Studios theme park in Orlando, FL. No matter how many times I saw it, it always made me laugh! It takes Robin Williams and puts him into a fictional Peter Pan sequel called "Back to Neverland" as one of the lost boys. One of my favorite parts is when Robin says he wants to be in a Peter Pan Sequel called "Peter Pan First Blood" co-starring Jack Nicholson. It was so entertaining and well written! I was very upset when they took the film out, it was a highlight of the park! I'm sure anyone who saw it would agree that this was a great film that the whole family could enjoy, and hopefully someday Disney will use it in their parks again!
