Al Yankovic can be described in a lot of ways besides "Weird." Most people know that he's a chart-topping singer-songwriter, a director-producer, a top-notch parodist, an author and a die-hard polka enthusiast. Even those who have followed his career closely, however, may have forgotten he was, for a brief moment, the host of a short-lived children's television show.
The Weird Al Show debuted on CBS on September 13, 1997 as part of their Saturday morning lineup. Each episode began with the all important "today's lesson" before viewers were invited into Yankovic's underground...

In 1997, a group of young international lawyers and activists prosecuted rape as an international war crime in the first case of genocide in history. The International Criminal Trial for Rwanda (the Ictr) was established by the United Nations in 1994 in order to judge the people responsible for the Rwandan Genocide where an estimated 1,000,000 Tutsi people were slaughtered at the hands of the Hutu majority. The new documentary “The Uncondemned” tracks the trial of Jean-Paul Akayesu, and how a group of underdog lawyers and three brave women helped establish the precedent that genocidal rape falls under genocide. Watch an exclusive clip from the film below.

Most people would go all out to celebrate their 15th anniversary at a high-profile job, but Hln’s Robin Meade isn’t most people — her start date was Sept. 11, 2001. “It’s painful to really sit and think about your emotions from that day,” the network’s weekday-morning anchor told TheWrap. Meade spent her first day at CNN’s Atlanta headquarters, where she was set to make her Hln (then Headline News) debut at 9 a.m. Et — minutes after the first plane hit the World Trade Center’s north tower. Elliot may be walking the streets again in this week’s Mr. Robot… but that doesn’t mean he’s smiling underneath that hoodie.
Ok, fine, Elliot never smiles. But he’s got a lot on his mind just the same. The episode kicked off by flashing back to the end of Season 1, when Elliot heard that knock on his apartment door. Turns out it was the cops, arresting him for hacking his therapist’s sleazy boyfriend and stealing his dog — a dog that cost $1,200, by the way, making the canine theft a felony. Sometimes the truth is simply wilder than fiction. Lynne Russell, author and former host of CNN Headline News, and her husband, Chuck de Caro, were both shot on Tuesday in an armed robbery attempt at their New Mexico motel where they were staying while on a road trip together, a terrifying encounter that ended in the suspect being shot to death. De Caro was the one who fired the fatal shots, according to his wife, who also noted that they are licensed to legally carry handguns and therefore had them in their room. "The man pushed me inside, I was airborne, literally," Russell, who was shot three times, told Albuquerque's ABC 7. And landed on the bed, and that was about the time that Chuck......

The chemistry test, which was shot in front of 50 audience members on the set of The Chew in New York Thursday morning, challenged the ladies to debate alongside Rosie and Whoppi in a wide array of hot-button topics. From that blurb, it sounds just like @midnight, the Comedy Central program in which host Chris Hardwick and a panel of comedians riff on social media. Harvey Weinstein acquires The Imitation Game, Juan Pablo nude pic set to leak, Nevada drops defense of marriage ban
Harvey Weinstein has purchased the U.S. rights to The Imitation Game, the Alan Turing biopic staring Benedict Cumberbatch, and it sounds like he’s got big plans for it. “Teddy Schwarzman and Morten Tyldum took a script that Bob [Weinstein] and I loved but were worried about its tone, because if you got it wrong one inch to the left or one inch to the right, you would have major problems. These guys got it so perfect. They did a better job than I ever could have. Benedict is unbelievable, and this is going to be a big year for Keira. Longtime Democratic donor Albie Hecht, the newly appointed executive vp and general manager of CNN's Headline News Channel, will no longer be allowed to donate to political causes and candidates, a network spokesperson said Wednesday. Questions were raised about the Spike TV founder and former Nickelodeon president’s role after it came to light that Hecht has personally contributed $35,550 to Democratic electoral efforts, including $13,750 to Barack Obama and his political committee, the Obama Victory Fund. Although most of Hecht's donations to other candidates and liberal causes were spread over 15 years, they immediately set off alarm bells

In what may signal that cable news has finally become the snake that is eating its own tail, CNN staged a rather bizarre split-screen interview Wednesday (May 8) during its coverage of the Cleveland kidnapping story.
Nancy Grace of Headline News and Ashleigh Banfield of CNN were talking about the latest in the Cleveland case, when an on-screen graphic informs viewers that both the anchors are in Phoenix.
Well, that's a little weird, but then you realize they're in Phoenix to cover the Jodi Arias murder trial verdict. Ok.
However, and hat-tip to the Atlantic Wire for their great GIFs of the broadcast, it quickly becomes clear the two women are in the same parking lot as they conduct their on-air analysis with each other.
As the Atlantic Wire says, judging by the same cars whizzing by in the background of both shots, the two cannot be more than 30 feet away from one another.

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg wished Jake Tapper “good luck with your show” yesterday while appearing on the debut episode of The Lead With Jake Tapper. The new one-hour CNN show looks like it needs it: The premiere of the first new show under new boss Jeff Zucker drew 400,000 total viewers, finishing in third place among cable news shows in its 4 Pm Et time slot. That’s less than half of the 1.102 million who watched Fox News Channel’s Your World With Neil Cavuto, and also down from the 479,000 who watched Martin Bashir’s daily show on MSNBC. In the key adults 25-54 demo, the show starring the former ABC News White House correspondent — who new boss Zucker has called the “face of the new CNN,” — drew 87,000 viewers compared to Cavuto’s 172,000 and Bashir’s 100,000. It also was beaten it in the slot by CNN sister station Headline News, which...

CNN has reached a settlement with the family of Toni Medrano, who killed herself in July after Nancy Grace repeatedly mocked her on air, the network announced on Monday. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Grace, a combative Headline News host, dubbed Medrano the "Vodka Mom" for having in November 2011 allegedly passed out after drinking nearly a full bottle of the liquor and smothering to death her three week old child. Grace, on her show, demanded that Medrano be charged with first degree murder, and poured shots from a bottle of vodka to demonstrate how much she drank.

Dr. Drew Pinsky interviewed "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" star, Alana Thompson and her mom June for his Headline News talk show. The term "interviewed" is used loosely here, as Alana chose to feign narcolepsy just as Pinsky returned from a commercial break.
The precocious little self-proclaimed redneck snored loudly, as the good doctor pelted her with questions about her reality TV career. Then, the Honey Boo Boo child suddenly awoke, and stayed alert long enough to respond to Drew's question about whether she likes being on television. "No," says Alana, "because fans come up to me and I hate it."
Sounds like she hates doing press promotion too.

The freeloading houseguest who became a minor celebrity for his meandering testimony at the O.J. Simpson murder trial now feels safe saying he thinks Simpson killed his ex-wife and her friend.
"The statute of limitations has now passed . . . so I can now say . . . yes, he did it," golden-haired Kato Kaelin admits to gossip columnist Cindy Adams.
It's been more than 18 years since Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman's murdered bodies were found in Los Angeles.
Prosecutors called on Kaelin, now 53, during the trial as a witness who could detail Simpson's movements on the night of the June 1994 killings. But during four days on the stand, the struggling actor provided an inconsistent version of events. Prosecutor Marcia Clark would ask that he be declared a hostile witness, because he wasn't forthcoming under questioning.

Introducing "Spotify the News," a new HuffPost feature designed to translate the week's big headlines into a weekend-worthy playlist featuring classic hits, unfairly overlooked obscurities and a good deal of what's in between.
Gay marriage led the "Headline News" this week, thanks to Vice President Joe Biden's unusual decision to utter "A Few Honest Words" about the right of same-sex couples to say, "Let's Get Married." The resulting "Controversy" seems to have forced President Obama to "Evolve" faster, and the White House quickly arranged a "Tete a Tete" with ABC's Robin Roberts. Obama's declaration that "same sex couples ought to be able" to join their hands in "Matrimony" struck most supporters as historic -- and a vocal few as "Too Little Little Late." The day after making the "Marriage" announcement, Obama ventured into the heart of Hollywood for a fundraiser at the home of "This Charming Man," George Clooney.

The Daytime Emmy Awards are headed to Time Warner’s Hln/Headline News network, according to Broadcasting & Cable. The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences also hopes to secure AOL as the awards show’s social media parter. Nominations for the Daytime Emmys had been expected to be announced Friday but have been delayed until Wednesday May 9 to give NATAS time to wrap up those deals. With the cancellation of multiple network soap operas such as All My Children, One Life To Live and As The World Turns, the telecast has lost some of its celebrity luster. The last two telecasts have been on CBS but were produced by Associated Television International, which leased the airtime and sold ads and arranged produce placement deals. Ati and NATAS have been unable to come to terms this year and the major networks declined to air the telecast, so the organization has been...

A Tennessee teen named Texanna Edwards was barred from attending her prom on Saturday for literally wrapping herself in the Confederate flag. She was denied entry because her glittery Rebel-patterned dress was deemed “offensive and inappropriate” by school officials. On Headline News' Morning Express With Robin Meade Thursday morning, anchor Robin Meade and meteorologist Bob Van Dillen had a little bit of fun at Edwards' expense, but not because of her Confederacy-celebrating attire.

This is a sad coda to the news that Whitney Houston’s death has been attributed to accidental drowning, and that cocaine and preexisting heart disease were factors in the incident. Now the people who loved the late singer are playing the blame game. Yesterday, Leorah Brown, Bobby Brown’s sister, spoke to Dr. Drew on CNN’s Headline News and slung some pretty heavy accusations at Ray J. She claimed she saw him ducking out of the Beverly Hilton Hotel, where Houston was found dead. She also claimed that Houston told her she wasn’t romantically involved with Ray J but that he was serving as her “runner boy,” just hanging around to supply the 48-year-old with cocaine.
Ray J’s rep is adamantly denying Brown’s statements and says he had no idea she was using cocaine again.
“Even though Leolah Brown was nowhere near the Beverly Hilton...

Whitney Houston's official cause of death was deemed an accidental drowning, but the report also notes the singer suffered from heart disease and had cocaine and prescription drugs present in her system.
It's the cocaine that has the singer's former sister-in-law, Leolah Brown, pointing fingers at Whitney's reported boyfriend at her time of death, Ray J.
According to the L.A. Coroner's report, Houston used cocaine "immediately prior to her collapse," but when investigators arrived on the scene they found no trace of cocaine or any other illegal drugs in the room. Sources tell TMZ the individual who removed the cocaine from the scene was also the person who supplied it to the singer.
Brown claims that Ray J provided Houston with the cocaine before she died. On CNN's "Headline News" with Dr. Drew Thursday night, Brown claimed that she saw Ray J leaving Houston's hotel room in a...

Throughout the six-week trial, they always felt his presence. Now they can take some solace in a courtroom victory. Michael Jackson's family cried, shouted and finally gave a sigh of relief after his personal physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, was convicted of involuntary manslaughter Monday in the pop star's death. Perhaps it's sympathy, having (at least fictitiously) been in his position, or maybe he's just a political realist. Either way, "West Wing" star Martin Sheen isn't too keen on his fellow celebrities criticizing President Obama.
"Steady, steady. No," Sheen, who played embattled liberal President Bartlett on the hit NBC White House drama, says in an interview on Joy Behar's Headline News show set to air Tuesday. "You're talking about a very special man. I adore him, and I think he's doing a great job. He hasn't gotten a lot of help, but I think he's done a great job."
Behar name checked stars such as Matt Damon, who, once major supporters of President Obama, have criticized the President for not sticking to campaign promises. Damon in particular has done so on multiple occasions, including in a March interview with Piers Morgan of CNN.
Sheen, on the other hand, places the blame on corporate America.

While attending an “Open for Questions” Hispanic issues roudntable September 28, President Obama said, “I am absolutely confident that within my lifetime, we will have a Latino candidate for president who will be very competitive and may win.” Obama went on to say that many places in the United States have a rapidly growing Latino population, such as Texas, and that within his lifetime, the majority in those states will be Latino. “With numbers comes political power,” he said. With a large Latino voting block and voter participation, both parties will be...

It would seem that the eternal battle between men and women can draw to a close now. According to All Headline News, science has found women to be the stronger sex. According to the article, a new study from Belgium’s Ghent University states that women have stronger immune systems as well as being genetically programmed to resist infection and cancer better than men due to a backup system for battling disease. This increased strength stems from micro-RNAs, small strands of Rna encoded on chromosomes, and genetics. While the micro-rna disable immunity genes on a man’s X chromosome, women, who have two, will always have an X chromosome that can compensate...

The bigoted backlash following the announcement that Chaz Bono would be competing on the upcoming season of "Dancing With The Stars" has only made him more determined to compete on the ABC competition.
Bono, who underwent hormone treatment and surgery to transition from woman to man, says that his appearance is important for the nation to witness.
"You know, it just kind of shows why for me it's important to be on the show, because so little still is known about what it means to be transgender," he told ABC News. "And there's so many just completely inaccurate stereotypes and thoughts that people have."
That echoed comments from his rep, Howard Bragman, who told Good Morning America, “He’s really using [the controversy] to motivate himself. He’s working incredibly hard, dancing hours at a time, and he’s committed to being a great dancer and having a great time on the show.

Agent Provocateur, an upscale lingerie company, decided to use the tabloid pictures of starlets like Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton and others for inspiration for their fall campaign ads. The ads, which feature “Boardwalk Empire” star Paz de la Huerta, make use of panty shots and the lifestyle of excess, both of which are frequently seen in the tabloids. And, according to All Headline News, de la Huerta was part of a drunken bar fight earlier this year, so everything seems to be full-circle. The tag line for the campaign is “Always remember your Agent Provocateurs.” De la Huerta is also featured in a video campaign for the brand....
