As an Annette Michael fan I was deeply disappointed by the 1-day wonder ROOM FOR RENT, resurrected by Something Weird on Vol. 49 of its Dragon Art Theatre series. The incompetent filmmakers manage to keep Annette's memorable rack under wraps most of the time and photograph her poorly to boot.
Slapped together with scenes and footage almost randomly assembled, this loop-like feature is about three horny women who advertise rooms to let and then have sex with the male respondents. That's all she wrote.
One requisite lesbian scene between Annette and a blonde roommate is filmed in virtually a single, uninterrupted take from an overhead camera. This stylizes the "upside down" action, but to no effect. Like the rest of the sex footage, it all depends how hard-up the viewer is in search of masturbatory stimulus.
Ad libbed dialog is miserable, and casting beyond Annette is of little note. The soundtrack is such familiar Muzak from other porn films of this era that one suspects there was a master, all-purpose soundtrack tape being utilized film after film. Among the mangled songs I recognized (again) are: "Alfie", "Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da", "Wichita Lineman", "Blackbird" (McCartney tune), "Aquarius" and "Green Onions".
