Fun way to explain how film soundtracks are created
buchner-16 December 2003
This is a great little film, showing two sound engineers creating the post-sync sound effects (known as "foley") for a chase and fight sequence in an anonymous movie. Split-screens are used to show the movie action alongside the guys in the sound studio. The pace gets faster, the fighting gets harder, and the sound guys get right into it! The film shows how foley effects are created - but in reality, they aren't usually recorded in a continuous sequence like this - but who cares! It's a fun way to show how some of the elements of a movie soundtrack are added later. And belting the hell out of a big lump of meat hanging in the studio, to get the punching effects is a scream! Recommended for anyone interested in film sound or moviemaking generally.
