In an exclusive interview with Et, the Nashville recording artist recalls the exact moment he and his wife, Jenna, learned that their 1-year-old son, Wake, was just a few hotel rooms down from where the shooter, Stephen Paddock, opened fire from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort around 10 p.m.
At the time of the shooting, country music star Jason Aldean was performing to a crowd at the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival. Dee Jay Silver (real name John Perdue) was on the same stage just moments before the gunfire began, and his son was staying at the hotel with Jenna's Aunt Mary.

But what she’s always wanted to do is direct. For Oscar-winning actress Brie Larson, moving behind the camera wasn’t the sort of career change she envisioned only after years in the business — it was something she grew up doing. Her own opportunities just had to catch up to her first.
“I’ve just made movies my whole life,” Larson recently told IndieWire. “Every summer, I would write and direct a film that I would direct my cousins in. It mostly took place in the garage, and I would just hang up different sheets and use our storage containers as different heights for things. I had a disco ball that I put outside the garage door, and when I turned it on, it meant we were rolling.”
She added, “I guess this has been part of my way of expressing myself for a very long time.”

It’s always a letdown when shows don’t get to shine. Even worse is when a series shows so much potential, but gets canceled after only one season. Get Down The Baz Luhrmann Netflix series about the rise of hip-hop contains great music and set pieces that make it easy to binge-watch and enjoy. That’s not including the great leads, which instill the characters with an electrifying innocence and humanity.

For production designer Karen Murphy and composer Elliott Wheeler, “The Get Down” was a far cry from the fantastical liberties taken with “The Great Gatsby.” Fulfilling Baz Luhrmann’s ambitious vision — recreating the rise of hip-hop in the burned-out wasteland of the late ’70s South Bronx — required a special authenticity. They had to immerse themselves in the revolutionary time and place before mastering “The Get Down,” inspired by hip-hop DJing, cutting, and mixing legend Grandmaster Flash.
The expensive musical extravaganza (cancelled by Netflix after its first season) was a wild convergence of music, politics, and rebellion. The series not only focused on teens from the South Bronx with larger aspirations than graffiti art, who become “The Get Down Brothers,” but complicated their lives with an unrequited love story, hampered by disapproving parents.

There are tons of fan theories out there on Star Wars and essentially every single one of its films. Some we like to toy with and some we take pretty seriously. 1. “Dear White People” Season 1 (available April 28)
Why Should I Watch It? “Dear White People” is based on Justin Simien’s 2014 Sundance sensation of the same name, pulling characters and plot lines from the satirical comedy that helped introduce us to the glory that is Tessa Thompson. Why Should I Watch It? “Dear White People” is based on Justin Simien’s 2014 Sundance sensation of the same name, pulling characters and plot lines from the satirical comedy that helped introduce us to the glory that is Tessa Thompson. Baz Luhrmann’s epic coming of age musical drama comes to an emotionally thrilling and satisfying conclusion in The Get Down Part 2. This stylized account of the rise of rap and hip hop in 1970’s Bronx, New York picks up one year following the events of Part One, which introduced us to an enormous cast of unique characters including young high school lovers Ezekiel ‘Books’ Figuero (Justice Smith) and Mylene Cruz (Herizen F. Guardiola).
By the end of that initial six episode arc, Books and his friends had formed the Get Down Brothers and were ready to take over the Bronx with their new style of music. Meanwhile, Mylene Cruz and the Soul Madonnas’ had their first hit single and seemed on their way to conquering the gospel music charts. Ezekiel and Mylene’s love story is a major driving force of the narrative but The Get Down is so...

Jurassic World 2 director Ja Bayona was excited to release the first photo from the film on Twitter, and it gives us a look a little girl standing in what looks to be a museum or private collection of dinosaur skeletons. The mystery girl is looking at what seems to be the head of a Triceratops. At least that's what I think it is, I'm not a paleontologist.
Regardless, it's an intriguing image that's enough to perk my interest and excitement a bit for what's to come. I have no idea who the girl is or what role she plays in the film, but since she graces the first image that was released for the film, I imagine she'll have a main role.

If you didn’t know any better, someone would have thought it was 1999 all over again in Las Vegas on Wednesday night — and that is no insult. This time, though, there was no Carson Daly and no Trl, but there was a proper boy band on stage. Six months after announcing they were beginning a 26-show residency at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino, the Backstreet Boys took the stage to 4,600 screaming fans. What happened next was a 100-minute trip down memory lane… which was perfect since Bsb’s fans, well, want it that way.

James Cromwell is a hell of a great actor whom I've enjoyed watching in the movies over the years. The guy has had a ton of roles in films and TV shows over the years that include Babe, Star Trek: First Contact, Spider-Man 3, La Confidential, The Green Mile, ER, and Six Feet Under.
According to THR, the actor has recently joined the cast of director J.A. Bayona's Jurassic World sequel. He will be joining returning cast members Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard as well as newcomers Toby Jones and Get Down star Justice Smith.
There are still no details on the story, but we know it will involve blood-thirsty dinosaurs and people being put in terribly frightening, life-threatening situations. We also know that Howard won't be running around in high heels through the whole movie.

Disney knows they run a business in churning out nostalgia. After spending decades forming our childhoods, they are now spending our adult years in cashing in on that childhood they created. It’s with all that in mind that we head into the impending Beauty and the Beast movie.
We may have had a real vested interest in the likes of The Jungle Book and Cinderella, but neither of those really holds a candle to the amount of nostalgia our generation has for Beauty and the Beast. From all we’ve seen of the live-action remake so far, it is very clear that they are looking to transliterate that animated film to the big screen.
This latest trailer from the film certainly drives that very point home, as it is almost a beat-by-beat walkthrough of the plot we know and love from the original film. As such, I feel as...

It's official, Ben Affleck has stepped down as director of the upcoming Batman standalone film. This news comes after a couple months of Affleck waffling back and forth, seeming to distance himself from the project for unknown reasons.
Now, in a report from Variety, it is now confirmed that he will not go forward with The Batman as director. Here's what Affleck had to say:
“There are certain characters who hold a special place in the hearts of millions. Performing this role demands focus, passion and the very best performance I can give. It has become clear that I cannot do both jobs to the level they require. Together with the studio, I have decided to find a partner in a director who will collaborate with me on this massive film. I am still in this, and we are making it, but we are currently looking for a director. I...

Well, folks, we can’t say this has been entirely unexpected. There have been murmurs for some time that actor Peter Capaldi was nearing the end of his tenure as the Doctor in the hit sci-fi series, Doctor Who, but while speaking with the BBC Radio 2 show, Capaldi all but confirmed that the 10th series (or season) of the show would be his last.

As much as we hate to keep saying it, Assassin’s Creed is a project that didn’t turn out too well for Ubisoft. This was the one that should have brought home the bacon and gave them the credibility needed to bolster the next project. However, if you were a video game fan who was worried that this may slow them down, you’re in luck. Ubisoft seems to be moving forward with their next big ticket I.P. with gusto.
Next on their plate is an adaptation of Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell, a third-person stealth game that follows field agent Sam Fisher. Like Assassin’s Creed before it, this is a franchise that is easily adaptable to the big screen and, in fact, it’s already made the jump to several books.

Last year saw the release of Stranger Things on Netflix. The show was a love letter to ‘80s pop culture, and was something of a Stephen King/Steven Spielberg hybrid. Though as great as the series was, it’s also a show that could very well have faltered from one key factor: its casting. The show has four pre-teens leading it, along with a few high schoolers. Given the depth of the material, it’s something that could have been hard to watch had the kids done a horrible job.
Luckily for us fans, the kids were not just serviceable in their roles; they were amazing. While everyone in the cast did a stellar job (they did just win a SAG award for Best TV Drama Ensemble, after all), one of the big standout performances came from Millie Bobby Brown, who played the character Eleven.

Bryan Cranston, James Corden and Giovanni Ribisi battle for Jessica Biel's heart in a goofy Late Late Show sketch, "The Bold and the Lyrical," with dialogue comprised completely of Kanye West lyrics.

Over the past few years, Netflix has made quite the name for itself. Sure, it started off as a mail service, and later a streaming service, but in 2012, it broke new ground when it launched its first original series, House of Cards. The approach was a complete departure from a cable TV perspective. Over the past several decades, audiences had grown accustomed to the standard means by which a TV series was released, and it wasn’t clear whether or not a streaming service — what’s more, a streaming service that drops full seasons of their shows at once — could be successful as a network.

10. “Angie Tribeca” (TBS)
Can Rashida Jones and her department of hysterical cops get some love this year? Nancy and Steve Carell’s new TBS comedy skewering the police procedural, “Naked Gun”-style, produced two full seasons, 20 total episodes, and a countless total of cumulative laughs. Absurd humor of such high regard is virtually impossible to do well without becoming repetitive, and “Angie Tribeca” proved itself sustainable in one year by pumping out two perfect seasons. 2016 should be looked at as a banner year for the program, even if it continues to top itself in seasons to come.

After branching out with some garage and R&B flavored efforts like his collaboration with Craig David on “No Holding Back” and “Thinking About You” with Jay Sean, Hardwell is back to offer up another blistering festival banger in his usual style. During Friday’s episode of Hardwell On Air, the Dutch DJ took the opportunity to drop an upcoming collaboration with W&W titled “Get Down.”
“Get Down” kicks things off with a bang as explosive house beats and pitch rising sound design fill the speakers. After a quick intro the track switches gears into the drop, as four on the floor rhythms pound out a persistent rhythm intersected by a steady barrage of chopped up vocal samples. The track definitely packs a punch with some electrifying synth work, as Hardwell and W&W work in their best mainstage riffs to foster an intense dancefloor experience.
