Two of the UK’s top comedy stars, Richard Ayoade and Jonathan Ross, have received backlash on social media after reviewing The It Crowd writer Graham Linehan’s memoir.
Irish scribe Linehan has gone from the writer of much-loved Channel 4 comedies The It Crowd, Father Ted and Black Books to an outspoken anti-transgender activist in recent years, leading many in the UK and Ireland to boycott him.
His book, Tough Crowd, has gone on pre-sale on Amazon this week. Its reviews section displays favorable quotes from talk show host and writer Ross and actor-director Ayoade, who starred in The It Crowd between 2006 and 2013. Other advocates include author John Boyne, anti-trans journalist Helen Joyce, comic Simon Evans and British TV director Lissa Evans.

Rita Ora‘s red carpet glam was decidedly low-key for the 2017 European Music Awards on Sunday.
The British singer — who was the evening’s host — stepped out donning a white bathrobe featuring a thigh-high slit. She skipped a blowout, instead just wearing a towel wrapped around her head.
Though her look was something usually reserved for home, the 26-year-old still piled on some glamorous accessories. Ora was dripping in diamonds thanks to her sparkling necklace and earrings, as well as her bedazzled heels.

Husband and wife Ike and Tina Turner became one of the biggest acts of the ’60s with their high-octane soul revue, but behind the hits lay a vicious abusive relationship. Following years of physical and mental torment, Turner famously fled her husband in 1976 with nothing but a Mobil card and 36 cents in her pocket.
The scene was dramatized in the 1993 biopic What’s Love Got to Do with It, but Turner recently opened up about that harrowing night during an appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show airing Saturday on ITV.

The Jonathan Ross Show had Hugh Jackman and Luke Evans on their program to discuss many things, among them the upcoming live-action remake of Beauty and The Beast. Specifically they talked about everyone's favorite Disney villain, the arrogant Gaston. Jackman has played the character in theater productions and Evans is set to star as villain in the film (alongside Emma Watson, who is playing Belle)!
The two squared off and sang a tune from the film, and I don't mind Evans, but we all knew before we watched Jackman was gonna win. The guy is quite literally Gaston personified! Evans held his own though, and at least made me a little excited to see the live-action version of this Disney classic.

No one says "no" to Gaston! So when Jonathan Ross asked Luke Evans - who plays the French villain in the upcoming live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast - to preview his titular song, fellow talk-show guests Hugh Jackman and Taron Egerton couldn't help but sing along. Evans nailed the impromptu rendition alongside Jackman, who took advantage of the opportunity to show off his pipes with the help of some sheet music. But the real standout was his Eddie the Eagle costar Egerton, who kicked off the opening verse from memory and sang beautifully, earning a round of applause...

"No one's slick as Gaston / No one's quick as Gaston" and no one is as convincing as Gaston as Luke Evans and Hugh Jackman are. Evans, who is set to play the French bully opposite Emma Watson's Belle in the highly anticipated live-action Beauty and the Beast, appeared on The Jonathan Ross Show alongside Jackman and Taron Egerton and had a sing-off to determine who would actually be the best to play Gaston. Singing "Gaston," the four men and one woman took turns singing the catchy verses, all while holding full beer steins, of course. After watching this performance, you'll want Disney to cast all of them as the macho man. The most surprising person, however, was definitely Egerton. The...

Taron Egerton is either already in acting mode when it comes to the "Star Wars" spinoff following young Han Solo, or rumors of his potential involvement have been greatly exaggerated.
Last we heard, "The Kingsman" actor, 26, was on the shortlist of frontrunners for the part. The Hollywood Reporter recently said a few stars were flown to London in early March to meet with producers. However, just a few days after that report came out, Welsh actor Taron was on "The Jonathan Ross Show" in the U.K., and directly addressed the rumor that he may be playing the young Han Solo. Here's what he said about that:
Egerton: "I've heard this rumor. Yes. I mean, I've seen the stuff on the Internet, and I think any lad of my age would kill to play a part like that. It's very, very flattering. I have no idea if there's any truth in it.

Last week came word that Phil Lord and Chris Miller's "Star Wars" anthology movie about Han Solo, currently targeting a May 2018 release, had narrowed its shortlist of candidates down to around three names - "Kingsman" star Taron Egerton, "Hail Caesar" scene-stealer Alden Ehrenreich, and "Transformers" actor Jack Reynor.
With filming to begin later this year, a name is expected to be announced soon and the best bet seemed to be Egerton. Appearing on The Jonathan Ross Show on Saturday though, the actor was asked directly about this possibility and indicated that he hasn't been contacted by either Disney or Lucasfilm about the part:

When you.re a professional film actor, dealing with fans is part of the job. You.ll get recognized by people who want a photo or an autograph. It.s the cost of doing business. Most actors don.t have a problem with this. Some even enjoy it. The Revenant.s Will Poulter was a little shocked one of the first times he was recognized in America. He was even more shocked when he realized the reason he.d been recognized was because a woman thought he was Sid, from Toy Story. I have to admit, I never really saw the similarity, but now, thanks to Yahoo, I will never be able to unsee the similarity. Will Poulter told the story on The Jonathan Ross Show. It.s not exactly clear why a living human woman, apparently capable of coherent sentences, thought Poulter was a cartoon character. Apparently Poulter was...

The lads of One Direction got a little naughty while visiting The Jonathan Ross Show recently, but it was actually one accidental comment made by Harry Styles that got everyone really laughing. When Ross asked the guys about their favorite part of touring and traveling the world, Styles put his foot in his mouth with his, er, slightly sexual answer. "I think it's probably sleeping in different beds," he said as the audience and his band mates erupted in a fit of laughter, causing the Romeo to throw his hands in the air and escort himself off stage. Believe it or not, this was the least of the naughty things revealed during their visit. Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Liam...

Strictly Come Dancing judge Darcey Bussell has described Jeremy Vine as "gorgeous" - but suggested his long limbs are getting in his way.
Speaking on tomorrow's episode of The Jonathan Ross Show, Bussell admitted that she enjoys watching the broadcaster.
"He's gorgeous," she said. "I am a fan - he's kind of got an odd charm about him.
"But he does look like a giant spider and you want him to kind of be able to bring it all together and contain it and it's all a bit out there. But he's slowly getting it together."
Bussell added that Vine needs to calm down a bit on the show, saying: "It's weird with him because he gets very overexcited and with those limbs and with the excitement, it goes wild, so he doesn't appreciate that one step for him looks like a leap - it looks like a giant leap.

The visual effects team on Furious 7 have opened up about the amount of work that went into the film on Paul Walker's scenes following his death.
Weta Digital, which famously did the effects for The Lord of the Rings trilogy, said that it was challenging as they did not have digital body scans of the late actor.
"We had to complete a performance - what Paul Walker would have done if he'd been able to continue. And it had to be his performance," Joe Letteri, Weta's senior VFX supervisor told Variety.
The technology "was barely possible last year when we did it", Letteri adds.
Weta talked about the producers wanting to respect the film they had set out to make and include as much of Walker as possible in scenes he hadn't filmed following his death in 2013 after a car accident.
In the end, they used older footage...

Vin Diesel has spoken about Paul Walker's death in an emotional interview.
In tonight's (October 17) episode of The Jonathan Ross Show, the star opened up about his friend's death.
"The relationships in that franchise are so strong and the brotherhood so real that it transcends the experience of making the movie," Diesel noted.
"You spend 15 years going from being a nobody to being a somebody with a brother and then one day he's gone and it's a heavy experience.
"I grew up in New York City, being a bouncer and you would lose people while you were working, but this was unlike anything we could have imagined."
While he recalled his mother telling him it as unfair he had to "mourn in front of the whole world", the actor now sees it as a blessing.
"I feel blessed that I'm able to carry on and talk about how wonderful...

In tonight's (October 17) episode of The Jonathan Ross Show, the singer revealed his son Mark, who's also his manager, received the call from the BBC while they were walking together in London.
"I would have liked to have known a bit earlier because my agent is always saying, 'Are you doing The Voice? What are we doing?' and they always leave it to the last minute," he commented.
"They always did every year and then all of a sudden we'd pencilled it in thinking we were going to do it again."
He also recalled his wife Linda's reaction to the news, once he'd told her that Boy George was replacing him.

The news of Sigourney Weaver's guest appearance in Doc Martin took many fans by surprise earlier this year, and now Martin Clunes has revealed how the Alien actress signed up for the drama.
Speaking on Good Morning Britain yesterday (September 3), Clunes said that he was approached by the Hollywood star and asked for a part while filming a chat show.
"I met her on The Jonathan Ross Show and she said she was a big fan," the actor said.
Weaver will play an American tourist on the show, visiting Cornwall and encountering Doc Martin and some of Portwenn's other vibrant characters.
Clunes teased the part by saying: "She gets to be insulted by her own friend."
The 53-year-old also revealed that he'll reunite with Men Behaving Badly co-star Caroline Quentin on the show's upcoming run.
Weaver was photographed shooting scenes for the long-running ITV series with Clunes in Cornwall back in July.
