Great movie based on a great series
au_law200115 January 2005
This is the second movie of the CCS series and possibly the last, but hey, it ended beautifully. I never saw the first one, but this one, whoa, is great, and touching. Sure it is from CLAMP, and it seems too cute and disturbing, but still, you gotta love this. After the last episode Li goes back to Hong Kong, but comes back for a vacation, and in time for the Nadesico Festival. And it seems to be a happy reunion, and all looks well, as Sakura may be able to answer back to Li, but there always seem to be something in the way, is it another card? It looks like it is, and what's a girl to do? Capture it. But this seems to be a very tricky card unlike the rest. Overall great animation compared to the series, great songs, especially the one in the middle when everyone is getting ready for the festival. And really love the ending song by Chaka, Tomorrow's Melody, I think that's what it's called, forgive me if it's the wrong title. But overall very good, good enough that even the kids could watch, not much of that supposed "gay" or "lesbian" stuff that most guys in the US say there is, and not very much violence at all, and not very disturbing as an anime fan might think there is, since this is a CLAMP title. And you'll find the ending very touching and nice. Really cute, not the sickening cute. Recommended to fans of the series, and to kids and adults alike, and to non-anime fans who don't know anime yet, forget Naruto or Ragnarok.

Cute love story between Sakura and Syaoran
lia000275 January 2003
This is next episode from the tv series end. I'm now not disappointed again with watching this movie, because there is story between Syaoran and Sakura. Sakura is still shy as usual to said that she love Syaoran to him. And Lee-kun is act gentle for a little boy. They had pure heart as children and that what makes me like this movie.

But the ending is too simple and the story is too short not like Cardcaptor Sakura the first movie. And the ending is too simple, they don't explained how if Sakura and Syaoran become lover? The ending song is good.

Magical and very romantic for two
TimothyMcKann10 March 2005
When I bought this movie at Suncoast, I can't believe Sakura has captured and converted the clow cards into Sakura Cards. Now Sakura has to face her biggest challenge. And how is Sakura going to tell Sharoran that she loves him? All the questions will be answered when you see this movie. My favorite characters in this movie are Sakura,Yui, and Keroberos. The reason why I like Sakura, is that she got to be a princess in a play and her costume was very beautiful. What I also found out that about this movie is that voice actor Michael McConnohie (famous for Transformers and Vampire Hunter D), also did the voice of Sakura's Dad. The movie also features the English voices of Steve Bloch , Steven Blum , Johnny Yong Bosch , Wendee Lee ,Sherry Lynn , Julie Maddalena ,Mona Marshall ,Dorothy Melendrez , Michelle Ruff,(famous for Chobits,Hand Maid May,and others) Philece Sampler , Lia Sargent ,Joshua Seth, Steve Staley, Kirk Thornton,Kari Wahlgren,Dave Wittenberg, Someday, I will get this movie autographed by Michael McConnohie because of his talents as a voice actor. So,in closing to this review,if you like the series, this is the #1 DVD motion picture to add to your collection. You will see what I mean.

A worthy end to a beloved series that keeps the camera on its characters
icekweem2327 July 2004
This is an awesome film, and a worthy and fitting end to an anime (based on a manga) beloved by many.

When the television series ended, it left its audiences a nifty little cliffhanger, and set things up well for this film while still managing to tie things up some. I won't lie to you. This movie is chiefly about the love story between Sakura and Syaoran.

But what makes this film such a bona fide success is that while it keeps the focus on the main characters, it isn't afraid to give minor characters their due. For example, Kero-chan steals a lot of the scenes and fits into the story perfectly as comedy relief without seeming tacked on in the least.

Director Morio Asaka and screen-writer Nanase Okawa know their characters. The dialogue never sells out or ceases to be fresh. Everyone is perfectly in character, and while this leads to a certain degree of predictability, it also brings smiles to the faces of fans who understand how much respect the material brings to their characters.

And as I said in my review for the first movie, there is something for every anime fan here. While those new to CCS fandom will probably be wary of this film being nothing but tying up loose ends left by the end of the 70-episode television series, they'd only be half right. While it ties up a lot of loose ends, it manages to hold its own as a film and capture the viewer's attention.

For fans who haven't seen this or want to enjoy it in the best possible way, I suggest shelling in the extra cash to buy the Special Edition CCS Movie 2: The Sealed Card DVD. Not only does it come with a see-through plastic flat thingy (I don't know what it's called!), inside the case you'll find "Tomoyo's Photo Album", a small booklet containing select CLAMP art from this movie. Also, you have the option to listen to the movie in English (tolerable) or with the original Japanese voices with subtitles (my choice).

But what makes this DVD worth the price of admission is the hidden Kero-chan Video Extra (search for it in the Extras Menu).

To fans, this movie is the Holy Grail. Every scene is not only necessary, but perfectly tuned to fit the rest of the film. While many fans will complain that the movie ends quickly, well, that's what fan fiction is for. ^_^

a good...cute, movie
ernapo1 October 2005
Warning: Spoilers
I just finished watching "The Sealed Card" and i can say its a good movie, not an excellent movie, but a good movie. For those who had endured the whole Cardcaptor TV series, it's a well deserved parting gift. i personally find the whole Li/Sakura relationship very enjoyable, if you like romance fluffy relations. The whole movie builds up on the moment in which Sakure will tell Li that she loves him, and we get some really funny scenes from that. I think that the animation its a its best, CLAMP delivers again. The music is not a very main issue here, but the few songs during the movie are OK. Now, the thing that bugs me about this is that we get this awesome final showdown/fight between the heroes and the card, but then on the final scene sakura finally speaks out and thats it. I'm no big expert, but i feel that moment lacked, um, moment...sure, she finally tells him what you expect, but it's an all so simple scene, it's the climax for god sakes, create a magic moment (the irony). Well, nevertheless, "The sealed card its a good movie", if you like this anime genre, i recommend it.

The true ending of the Cardcaptor Sakura series
TooKakkoiiforYou_32111 October 2022
And with that I mean the fact that clearly somebody was well aware that the ending to the original series was really bad, so bad that at first I thought I was gonna give the whole series a mediocre 6 out of 10 just for how contrived it felt in all regards. But, seeing that the experience I had with another series with a similar crappy ending (Gundam Z, if you're wondering), I thought a 7 was more adequate. This movie luckily solved ALL the problems of that ending and then some, with some sweet sweet references to Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon and in particular to the ending of Super S and the start of Sailor Stars that moonies like me myself and I just can't avoid to appreciate. It's better than the first snooze-inducing, completely out-of-place in respect to the main series movie on all fronts, so give it a go with no problems whatsoever.

Good for CCS fans.

Warning: Spoilers
I really liked the movie. I think it really helped finish the series up unlike other anime that go on forever I really liked the movie to finish with Sakura and Syaron together. I did not like the Nevada version so i was happy pioneer took charge and translated it to English. the voices fit more. the music is great. Plot good. but still it feels like the same old CCS. there should have been a bigger plot twist, but Sakura almost getting killed by a roller-coaster is a good plot twist...well OK then. CCS will love it. and it will be a good ending. For other people though it will be like seeing another episode of Sakura only longer and bigger twist. No one kisses...What? You may ask. But Yeah it just ends with a hug. Sorry for you Cardcaptor Sakura Fans no kiss!

Better than the first
sisubalan24 July 2022
Slightly better than the first movie. Really like this concept of the sealed card due to how powerful can it be. Didnt like the ending of this, lacks action tbh. More into romance. Still recommended.

Didn't know it was a finale
ericstevenson18 May 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I admit to knowing virtually nothing about "Cardcaptor Sakura" so I saw this movie completely blind. It was roughly as good as I thought it would be. Like "Sailor Moon", it isn't really my thing. I admit that the pacing in this movie could have been better. At first, it seemed like it was just going to be a slice of life story about Sakura and Kero. That did work pretty well, but about halfway through they put a more serious story in. It did seem rushed, but it's still a good movie. It's probably because the characters are a lot of fun.

Kero was the most enjoyable for me, if only because of how goofy he was. It's hard to not be entertained by a character that silly looking. It also helps that the animation is very impressive. The film ends with Sakura finally confessing her love to Syaoran and literally the last shot is her leaping to embrace him! As I haven't watched the show, I couldn't see the buildup to this, but it certainly looks nice. The version I saw had this cute short film at the end. I thought it was just a really long scene after the credits, but it was a short in itself. ***
