With all the great stuff out there on the shelves at the moment, even the great stuff being put out by Titan Comics alone, this title has fallen a little under the radar. Although I wouldn’t put it at the very top of my reading pile, it is consistently a solid, entertaining read. Paknadel and Watters take the best elements of the games and mythology, fuse them with their own ideas, and create a book that while being wholly true to the Assassin’s Creed brand is definitely its own creature.
So to date we now know that the followers of Juno, known as The Instruments of the First Will, are trying to bring about a New World Order by destroying everything. That means destroying both the Templars and the Assassins, and both groups have...

Welp, now the Shadow knows.
American Gods rounded out its freshman season on Sunday with a finale that definitely answered one of the fantasy series’ biggest questions: Who, or what exactly, is Mr. Wednesday? Though many viewers (especially those who’ve read the Neil Gaiman novel on which the series is based) figured it out a while back, it took poor Shadow Moon eight episodes to finally wrap his mind around the truth.

No, You’Re feeling guilty for dismissing American Gods‘ Mad Sweeney as a stereotypical drunk-‘n’-belligerent member of the fightin’ Irish.
In this week’s episode of the Starz fantasy drama, we find out a bit about the leprechaun’s back story, including why he’s drawn to Laura Moon. Much of the explanation comes wrapped in an extended Coming to America story about Essie MacGowan, whom book readers will recognize as the Essie Tregowan of Neil Gaiman’s novel.

We meet a new god — who, ironically, isn’t a New God — in this week’s American Gods, and he’s seriously gunning for Shadow and Wednesday.

Relax, it’s for an adaptation of ‘Fahrenheit 451’
Seems like every day 2017 looks a little more like a dystopic novel: civil disorder, totalitarian rulers, an increase in military spending at the expense of social and cultural programs, Teen Wolf got cancelled; bottom line, it’s pretty dour out there.
Unless you’re the author of one of these dystopic novels, like Brave New World, 1984, or The Handmaid’s Tale, then you’re having the best sales of your career thanks to the teeming masses trying to adjust to the New World Order.
HBO’s looking to capitalize on this unrest by adapting the other really famous dystopic novel — Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451, about a future where books are outlawed — into a movie, and now they’ve got their stars. Oscar-nominee and general badass Michael Shannon (Nocturnal Animals) will be playing Beatty, chief of the firemen who burn books, and...

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has entered the darkest timeline.

Yesterday, The A.V. Club reported that a bunch of wannabe neo-Nazi jagoffs (set those sights high, kids) were hassling director John Carpenter online, insinuating that his 1988 sci-fi allegory was in actuality exposing a Jewish conspiracy. Carpenter tweeted out in response:

We’ve now hit the penultimate episode of Batman: The Telltale Series, which means a bit of a recap is in order when it comes to my thoughts on the previous ones. I felt Episode 1: Realm of Shadows offered a lot of tantalizing possibilities for the universe, and I especially liked the way the focus remained on Bruce Wayne as a character rather than the Caped Crusader. On the other hand, I wasn’t as big a fan of Episode 2: Children of Arkham, which I felt did little to advance the story and even less in the way of gameplay.
I hit a bit of a snag playing Episode 3: New World Order, experiencing some glitches that prevented me from getting a review up in time — but once I did get to play, suffice it to say I found it the strongest episode yet, making good on...

I felt extremely lucky when I heard the nightmarish stories of other PC players trying to enjoy Batman: The Telltale Series – Episode 1: Realm Of Shadows. I hadn’t had any issues at all, a privilege that allowed me to enjoy all the chapters of Telltale’s rendition of Gotham in one sitting. I got similarly lucky with the second episode, and while I may not have enjoyed the narrative or gameplay in that entry quite as much, it was still nice to run unencumbered through a game many others seemed to have technical issues with. I should have known, of course, that my luck was going to run out sooner rather than later. I should have taken my good fortune as a sign that, this time around, it was my turn to deal with the glitches.

Batman: The Telltale Series‘ third episode drops tomorrow for all major platforms, and to get you ready for another round of crime-fighting as the Dark Knight, the developer has released a foreboding launch trailer.
Titled New World Order, the follow-up to last month’s episode will see Bruce Wayne having to hold the fort on multiple fronts as Gotham is besieged by several criminal organisations.
Chief among them is the mysterious Children of Arkham gang, who led the attack on Harvey Dent at the behest of their leader: Penguin. Judging by Dent’s now-scarred visage, we don’t imagine it’ll be too long until the upstanding member of society turned psychotic villain starts his rampage as infamous villain Two-Face.
Besides all of the threats he’ll be facing as Batman, Wayne will have numerous run-ins with Selina Kyle as she slowly reveals more of her past to the billionaire.

Batman: The Telltale Series‘ third episode will launch digitally worldwide on October 25 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, developer Telltale Games has announced. Officially titled Episode 3: New World Order, the follow-up to last month’s explosive episode will deal with the immediate fallout of Penguin and The Children of Arkham’s attack on Harvey Dent, leading to the birth of one of Gotham’s most infamous villains: Two-Face.
As usual, Bruce Wayne will find himself having to juggle two different conflicts as both himself and Batman. Judging by the teaser released last month (above), Wayne will have to prove that Batman’s unique brand of justice is a good thing for the people of Gotham City while also nurturing his relationship with Selina Kyle, who “reveals more of herself to Bruce,” over the course of the episode.

Chicago – The experience of director Oliver Stone, to look underneath the slimy rocks of government secrecy and bureaucracy, produces an excellent history lesson in “Snowden,” an overview of Edward Snowden, a whistleblower against the government who is still in exile.
Rating: 4.0/5.0
Stone is clear on his position on Snowden, who essentially told the world that their privacy rights were being violated through government access into their technology, he is a patriot. How he became that way is fascinating, with the complexities of spying on chilling display. Get your band-aids or masking tape out and tape that camera hole on your computer, or maybe you’re next on the CIA/Nsa “candid camera.” That is what the film warns, and again Oliver Stone is the agent provocateur who leads the way to teaching us something through his role, as he puts it, as a dramatist.

Starting out in wrestling as a bodyguard for James E. Cornette in Jim Crockett Promotions, the Boss Man’s career would go on to reach huge heights in the late 80’s, when he would enjoy main event level feuds with such names as Hulk Hogan and Randy “Macho Man” Savage.
By the time the 90’s arrived, The Big Boss Man was one of the most popular stars on the WWF roster. If you look at merchandise from that time, Boss Man’s likeness sat side by side with Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior and Jake Roberts...

The WWE Hall Of Fame began as a tribute to Andre The Giant just weeks after his passing in 1993 and has grown to become a fairly-respected institution recognizing all of professional wrestling’s greatest contributors. A few of those inductees are no doubt, surefire, “first ballot” (if the WWE had a voting process and ballots to go along with it) Hall Of Famers.
Even fewer of those contributors are marquee names that are capable of headlining the ceremony, drawing thousands of ticket sales. After all, the Hall Of Fame is more of a show now than it ever has been before and, like every other event that WWE puts on throughout the year, the final act must be worth the wait.

Paul Heyman liked the idea of taking pro wrestling’s misfits and turning them into success stories. If there’s one thing that appealed to wrestling’s ‘mad scientist’, it was putting a friendly arm around those who otherwise would have been shunned by companies like the WWF and WCW.
This is largely how Heyman built the Ecw roster during the 1990s.
The original Extreme Championship Wrestling (not the watered-down WWE version of the group) was a barmy place. It was home to some of the most wacky characters in the entire industry, and that was something Heyman and his crew were incredibly proud of. Ecw was a diverse place, there were no strict rules governing how performers managed to get themselves over with the fervent fan base.
All of the characters profiled here could accurately be described as ridiculous. However, that doesn’t mean some weren’t...

Welcome to the first Wtf moments article on WCW pay per-view events! Since we’re covering the Nitros from early 1998 onwards, it only makes sense to delve into the WCW pay-per-view events and see what WCW was offering while the WWF was on a meteoric rise thanks to the ushering in of the Attitude Era.
Souled Out began as a PPV in 1997, originally as an nWo event where the announcers, referees and crew were all paid for by the New World Order and the WCW wrestlers were only there to fight the nWo stars. The event tanked on pay per-view and it was at that point that Eric Bischoff began to re-consider original idea – separate branded PPV events for both WCW and the nWo.
Fast forward a year to 1998 and the show was a regular WCW PPV event on a Saturday night. The 1998 show emanated from Dayton, Ohio...

It’s time once again to hop in the DeLorean and head back to January of 1998, for another look at some Wtf moments from the Superdome in New Orleans on Monday Nitro on January 19th, 1998.
One of the biggest takeaways (compared to watching a current episode of Monday Night Raw) is that on this Nitro, there are around fifteen stars who are all pushed, heavily-featured and feel like big names. There’s also a feeling of chaos throughout the show where anything could happen, which enhances the viewing experience tenfold.
This episode is also the go-home Nitro for the upcoming weekend’s Souled Out pay per-view, which oddly enough took place on a Saturday. Going into this edition of WCW’s prime time show, there were more questions about the dissension of the New World Order along with the final build towards The Giant facing Kevin Nash and...

When pro wrestling fans discuss their favourite factions from years gone by, The Brood isn’t always one that comes up in conversation. More often than not, groups such as the New World Order, Four Horsemen and D-Generation X are talked about, but the aura the vampire stable had during the ‘Attitude’ Era shouldn’t be discounted.
Both Edge and Christian as well as The Hardy Boyz are former members, and both reaped the benefits of early associations with Gangrel. David Heath – the man behind the creepy, blood-spitting gimmick – has said during shoot interviews that the character is one he had pitched for years to the WWF/WWE, long before he actually ended up playing it.
In this week’s article, Gangrel opens up to provide an eye-opening fact about The Brood which not many people will be aware of. Instead of Christian, just who was originally ear-marked...

Things may soon become difficult for the cast of Supergirl when the producers intend to introduce yet another element from the DC Universe to the show. With the recent reveal that J’onn J’onzz/Martian Manhunter has been posing as Hank Henshaw for years, it stands to reason that not only will we learn more of his backstory, but characters familiar to him will appear.
If you happened to guess that a White Martian will show up, then you are correct. In a recent inverview with Comicbook.com, actor David Harewood spoke of the upcoming reveal and how it will affect his character emotionally:
There is – in Episode Eleven – we have a visitor from another planet who’s a White Martian. There are two Martian species – it feels really weird talking about this (laughs) I’ve not been able to say anything about it – there is a Green Martian...

Something at Denver International Airport is very seriously wrong.
Located 25 miles from downtown Denver, it opened in 1995, two years late and more than $3 billion over budget. It replaced Stapleton International Airport, which didn’t have any major problems and was closer than its replacement to the city it served.
So why was a completely unnecessary and vast airport – it’s the second biggest in the world – even built, especially at such an extortionate cost?
Because in reality, it’s the secret headquarters of The Illuminati, and the evidence for this is numerous and compelling. Everywhere you look there are clues that hint at the true evil that lurks beneath the façade of Denver Airport.
There’s the ominous layout of the runways, the murals that depict the end of the world, the miles and miles of secret tunnels beneath it, and much, much more.

You’ve heard of the Illuminati, right? They’re the shadowy group who control every aspect of our lives. They dictate what’s in the movies we watch, the music we listen to, and the news we read. They’ve pulled the strings on all of history’s major events, they observe satanic rituals, and they’ll happily kill to preserve their secrecy.
They’re able to exert their influence over just about every government and every major company in the world. Want more proof? Maybe your grandad was in The Masons. If so, he was also a low-level Illuminati operative, though to give your Grandad the benefit of the doubt, he might not have realised it. If this is all news to you, fear not, because there is a significant band of warriors out there who are on to them – the anti-Illuminati.

World Championship Wrestling did a lot of good for the grappling industry. Monday Nitro kick-started the ‘Monday Night Wars’ that hooked fans, and the promotion provided wrestlers with a genuine alternative workplace to the then-wwf. However, for all the good that WCW did, the last few years of the group’s existence proved to be a miserable failure.
Creatively, WCW was in the toilet by 1999. Bereft of fresh ideas, the writing team decided to keep plowing on with the tired New World Order shtick. Even as calendars turned to the year 2000, the organisation’s brain trust thought simply rehashing the nWo and calling it ‘nWo 2000’ would fix all their problems. The entire place was a mess, and parts of the product were unwatchable.
If (the second half) of 1996, 1997 and 1998 had been high points, 1999 into 2000 proved to be a crushing low. It’s those years which scoop most attention in this article.

Though entrance music and attire are crucial to the success of a Superstar in WWE, merchandise is equally important. It’s what makes a wrestler marketable as well as memorable in the eyes of the fans.
Sales can either make or break a Superstar. Take the New World Order for example: their simple yet stylish shirt from 1996 can still be seen in the sea of fans who attend wrestling events to this day. Equally, you might run into someone on the street wearing the iconic “Austin 3:16” shirt or Randy Savage’s “Macho Man” shirt despite the apparent drop in WWE’s popularity.
Times are changing. At one time, only WWE’s most elite competitors had their own line of merchandise, but now it seems as if everyone on the roster these days has their face on a t-shirt. But that’s not to say everyone’s shirts are quality,...

WWE superstar Daniel Bryan has revealed that he would love it if John Cena turned heel.
Speaking in an interview to 104.4 Virgin Radio Dubai whilst promoting the forthcoming WWE 2K16 video game, Bryan compared the idea to Hulk Hogan’s shocking but successful heel turn in 1996 and how it turned wrestling around. He’s right because after that happened, the New World Order angle really sparked World Championship Wrestling and it hurt WWE big time.
Bryan also said that in today’s wrestling world, heels get cheered a lot, so it’s hard to tell if a Cena heel turn would work. That’s a valid point because if Cena did turn heel, a lot of the people that are booing him might cheer for him if he’s considered “cool” as a heel.

It’s the first time we’ve seen Sting since his WrestleMania appearance where he defeated Triple H with the aid of yes, the New World Order. However, given that Seth Rollins is in the midst of elevating his performance standard to another level, the idea of wrestling a 56-year old man really doesn’t need to be in the cards.
Sting versus Seth Rollins is bad for business for roughly ten reasons that will be outlined in this article. 1996 was the year it all turned around for World Championship Wrestling. By the end of ’96, WCW was no longer playing second fiddle to Vince McMahon or the World Wrestling Federation. One brilliant idea would be credited as the turning point, the New World Order.
Signing both Kevin Nash and Scott Hall away from their major competition, WCW made a statement at the Bash At The Beach 1996 Pay-Per-View. One of the biggest babyfaces in pro wrestling history unthinkably turned heel, joining these ‘Outsiders’. There can be no denying that the move was a master stroke, even if the creative team didn’t really seem to know what to do once the nWo idea ran dry years later.
Incredibly, the nWo revolution wasn’t the only big thing happening for WCW in 1996. This article focuses on things even hardcore wrestling fans might not know about the company during that year.

WCW is often seen as the home of numerous terrible gimmicks, and the terrible ring attires that come as part of the package. As detailed in the 10 Worst Images Changes In WCW History, sometimes this stereotype is entirely justified. The promotion oversaw some of the most ill-advised images in wrestling history, from transforming Brutus ‘The Barber’ Beefcake into ‘The Booty Man’ to removing Rey Mysterio’s signature mask.
However, WCW doesn’t always get the credit it deserves. For a time they were the hottest promotion in the wrestling world, a period of success stemming from the birth of the iconic New World Order. The nWo weren’t just popular for their heelish antics and big-name members – they also introduced a whole new aesthetic to the industry, one of plain black clothing and gritty, rough-edged ring attire. Tassels, capes and bright colours were out; denim, leather and shades were very much in.

Being Eric Bischoff in 1997 must have been incredible. In 1995, Bischoff had helped World Championship Wrestling turn an annual profit for the first time in company history. In 1996, ‘Easy E’ had the brain wave of forming the New World Order faction, an idea which had transformed the promotion from also-ran to leader of the pack. 1997 would continue that trend, as WCW made more money than it knew what to do with.
The very notion that anything could go wrong was preposterous. After all, WCW had the hottest heel group in wrestling (nWo) and a world class locker room that was the envy of every other company. The best was yet to come. Eric Bischoff must have felt like the king of the world, and WCW had an embarrassment of riches. Even so, 1997 would arguably be WCW’s peak, at least creatively.

The timing is right for WWE to bring back stable with a familiar name: The Four Horsemen. The name is synonymous with one of the most famous groups in the history of wrestling, right up there with the New World Order and D-Generation X.
What’s interesting about the Four Horsemen is that they were only in WCW and once WWE bought the company in 2001, they never created a stable with the Horsemen name. Why not now?
The closest stable in the history of WWE that was like the Four Horsemen was the Evolution foursome of Triple H, Randy Orton, Batista and original Horseman Ric Flair. Just like the Horsemen did at various points in their run, the Evolution group held all the titles at the same time to show how dominant they were.

WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash, who was one of the founders of the New World Order with Hulk Hogan, came to the defense of the Hulkster on Twitter after WWE fired Hogan this past Friday due to racist remarks that Hogan reportedly made on a tape in 2006.
Here are the three tweets that Nash sent out on Monday:
I've spent the last 23 years of my life with Hulk. I've been in the most diverse of situations and never heard Hulk use a racial slur.

In no way dismissing the remarks.Just looking at the situation. Sex tape thats set up.Tapes that are easily edited. Content that was pushed

When last we tuned into the Syfy drama, smart-mouthed, malevolent Mara (played by Emily Rose) had been dispatched with, but not before an encounter with Duke (Eric Balfour) inside a thinny resulted in Mr. Crocker “exploding.” That in turn released into Haven a whole lotta new Troubles.

As successful and groundbreaking as WCW was for a brief period in the 1990s, it is equally remembered as the home of some of the worst gimmicks in wrestling history. Many a successful wrestler saw their credibility ruined in the promotion, suffering from incredibly ill-advised alterations to their characters.
The very worst of these changes resulted in cheap, tacky outfits and one-dimensional personas – poor creative decisions which only served to make the WWF a more credible promotion by contrast. Vince McMahon gained an edge in the Monday Night Wars by portraying his company as one far more in-touch with modern times, an advantage which was as much helped by WCW’s incompetence as it was the WWF’s greater grasp of pop culture.
Many of the worst changes in WCW’s chequered history were born out of an attempt to cling onto the 1980s, a period in which such colourful,...

Secret Wars #4
Written by Jonathan Hickman
Art by Esad Ribic
Colors by Ive Svorcina
Published by Marvel Comics
After spending the previous two issues introducing Battleworld and the New World Order of God Doom, the most recent issue of Secret Wars treats readers to a gigantic brawl between the heroes of Reed Richards’ life raft, the Cabal, and the Thor Corps. While the miniseries has yet to stall or run in place, as most event comics often do, issue four does suffer from certain pacing and mechanical issues that lead to it being the weakest installment yet.
Although the majority of this issue is dedicated to the battle between the Cabal and the assorted heroes, outside of the two major deaths, the newest installment seems meaningless at times. Because Jonathan Hickman did such an excellent job in conveying and justifying Doom’s divinity in the previous issues, any reference or...

1999 would be the year when things really started to go sour for World Championship Wrestling, but even though the then-wwf would catch the company up and reclaim top spot in the world of North American pro wrestling, 1998 would be a banner year for Ted Turner’s grappling promotion.
Pay-Per-View buyrates were high, merchandise sales were through the roof (mainly because the nWo concept was still hot in ’98), and crucially, attendances at both televised and live events were incredibly high. For evidence of this, just look at the numbers WCW pulled for an episode of Monday Nitro at the massive Georgia Dome on July 6th, 1998. Attracting over 40,000 fans, the company trumpeted the event as a success, and rightly so.
With all that in mind, it doesn’t take a genius to realise that cracks were really starting to show in the WCW formula. Most notably, the promotion didn’t...
