Sidney Lumet complains about the it's-not-possible-for-this-to-happen disclaimer placed by Columbia Pictures at the end of
Fail Safe (1964), he notes that there was no similar disclaimer for
Stanley Kubrick's
Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964). In fact, there is a disclaimer about the "stated position" of the Department of Defense at the beginning of the US release (and most seen-on-television) versions of Dr. Strangelove.
