Dewey Finn, is that you? On Tuesday, Tom Morello shared a video of Jack Black performing a cover of Ozzy Osbourne’s “Mr. Crowley,” while backed by a band of pre-teens that included Morello’s own son Roman. The performance was in celebration of Morello’s mother Mary’s 100th birthday party.
“Mary Morello’s 100th bday celebration featured a stirring rendition of @ozzyosbourne & #RandyRhoads “Mr. Crowley” performed by @jackblack and a kick ass band of 12 & 13 year olds!” the Rage Against the Machine guitarist wrote. “Mary was pleased!”

While Gregg Araki hasn’t made a feature film in nearly a decade, since 2014’s White Bird in a Blizzard, the director has kept busy on a number of high-profile TV series. Now, he’s revisiting one of his earlier cult classics with the second entry into his “Teen Apocalypse Trilogy,” 1995’s The Doom Generation. Restored in 4K as well as retimed and remastered in a new 5.1 mix, this new version also features scenes that were cut out of the theatrical release nearly thirty years ago. Following the restoration’s premiere at Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, it’ll now get a theatrical release from Strand Releasing starting April 7 at IFC Center and the new trailer has landed.

Today was a busy day for some of the smaller guilds with the Visual Effects Society, the Cinema Audio Society, and the Makeup and Hairstylists Guilds all announcing their nominations for 2013.
First, we have the Ves, whose main category to look at is “Outstanding Visual Effects in a Visual Effects-Driven Feature Motion Picture,” where we find Gravity and four other nominees that are just going to have to be happy with the fact that they got nominated. This is perhaps the easiest category to call in the entirety of awards season, and I don’t mean just here, but for the Oscar as well (Last year’s winner, Life of Pi, easily took this category before going on to claim the Oscar). It’s true that films like The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and Star Trek Into Darkness had outstanding effects as well, but nothing even came close to the amazing,...
