Joseph Hart and Carrie DeMar dress up and do a little fast dancing in this early movie derived from a comic strip.
Buster Brown was already making the transition into the movies and this bright little effort offers a nice bit of movement. It is derived from a popular strip, "Foxy Grandpa" drawn by Carl Schultze for the New York Herald. Its transfer to the New York American and this movie indicates its current popularity. There were books and games and even Broadway shows based on the character and the strip lasted into the 1930s.It even holds the distinction of appearing in the first issue of THE FUNNIES, the first regularly issued comic book, in 1929 -- originally comics reprinted newspaper strips; it wasn't until the middle of the 1930s that comic books began to publish original material.
