Robert "Bobby" Spillane, the actor son of Irish American mobster Mickey Spillane, died Saturday (July 10) after accidentally falling from the sixth floor of his Hell's Kitchen apartment in New York.
Spillane, 45, was discovered by his brother, Michael, 46, around 8:00am on the sidewalk outside his Eighth Avenue apartment building
According to the New York Post, Spillane, who had recently undergone shoulder surgery and whose arm was in a sling, was leaning against a screen door when it gave way and he fell through the open window. He hit a tree on the down.
Michael was reportedly coming from Starbucks and saw his brother lying on the ground.
"Saturday Night Live" comedian Colin Quinn -- who produced Spillane's first play, "All Dolled Up," talked with detectives. Spillane had played various roles on the comedian's self-titled series, "The Colin Quinn Show."
Spillane also appeared in award-winning TV series "NYPD Blue," "Law and Order" and "Rescue Me.

NEW YORK -- In an unusual arrangement conceived by Comedy Central, former Saturday Night Live star Colin Quinn will get a two-week on-air tryout for his own weeknight series. Airing Monday-Thursday from Dec. 9-19 following The Daily Show With Jon Stewart, The Colin Quinn Show (working title) would get an eight-episode run that essentially functions as a pilot. If the network is happy with the series, it will bring it back next year. "To do a pilot for a nightly show is tough," said Julie Darmody, Quinn's co-manager with Jimmy Miller. "This was a mutually agreed-upon arrangement that will allow Colin to show himself at his best." The series, similar to the short-lived, identically titled program NBC gave Quinn in March, features him and a rotating corps of his comedian peers engaging in irreverent discussion of topical issues. The program is being eyed as a companion series for Daily, which Lauren Corrao, new senior vp original programming and head of development, has made a priority.
