It’s about time, I guess you could say. Universal is finally moving forward on their planned remake of the 1994 Jean-Claude Van Damme time-travel actioner “Timecop”, based on the Dark Horse comics. The remake has been in the pipeline for at least 6 years now, but apparently the studio just remembered earlier this week. Hey, better late than never, I guess. The studio has writers working on the remake now. The original, of course, starred Jean-Claude Van Damme as a time enforcement cop who tries to stop Ron Silver from doing bad things. Mia Sara co-starred as Jcvd’s wife, and a pre-”ER” Gloria Reuben played his partner. I liked the original film, but I also liked the sequel starring Jason Scott Lee called “Timecop: The Berlin Decision” in 2003. If you’ve never seen the sequel, I would recommend it. Sure, it had a lower budget and it went straight to DVD,...

Universal is planning a remake of Timecop, the 1994 Jean-Claude Van Damme time travel action movie. The franchise reboot is being produced by Marc Shmuger and Tom McNulty.
Dark Horse’s official description of the series reads:
“You can change the past, the future, your future. Then imagine Max Walker, one of the Time Enforcement Commission’s toughest and most extreme cops. But as nasty as Walker’s methods are, even he may not be able to stop a nefarious plot to destroy the future as we know it.”
Timecop was adapted from the Dark Horse comics and first released in 1994 with Jean-Claude Van Damme in the lead. The film went on to have a TV spinoff in 1997, though it was short-lived, and a direct-to-video sequel Timecop 2: The Berlin Decision in 2003.
Got any ideas for who should be the lead this time around?

Universal Pictures has begun development on a rebooted Timecop movie.
Marc Shmuger and Tom McNulty will produce the new film based on the Dark Horse Comics property, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The 1994 film was considered a major success for star Jean-Claude Van Damme. It went on to spawn a short-lived television show and a straight-to-video sequel, Timecop 2: The Berlin Decision, in 2003.
The property is set in a future in which time travel is policed by the Time Enforcement Commission.
Officer Max Walker is known for his brutal efficiency, but he finds himself struggling to prevent a plot by a corrupt politician to forever change the future.
Universal is currently seeking writers for the project. Van Damme is not involved.

The Jean-Claude Van Damme movie Timecop was certainly one of the dumber action movies to emerge from the 1990s and one of the top earners for its star, but it didn't really go anywhere as a franchise. In 1997 there was a spinoff TV series and a direct-to-video feature called Timecop: The Berlin Decision, but neither made much of a pop culture impact. Still, Timecop is a recognizable name to some pockets of society, and Hollywood will never leave an unexploited brand alone. The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Universal Pictures now has plans to reboot the franchise - without Van Damme's involvement. In the original, which was directed by Peter Hyams and based on the series from Dark Horse Comics, the martial artist starred as a police officer who regulates time travel in the future. A conflict arises when the officer discovers that a politician, played by Ron Silver, is...

Yeesh, it’s been a full 24 hours since the last piece of Hunger Games casting news hit the Web. How do you cope? Why, but reading about another piece of Hunger Games casting news, of course! This time, it’s Panem’s District 7 — known for its lumber — which has found its unnamed tributes in Sam Ly and Leigha Hancock. Ly, who will play the tribute boy, has previously appeared in the direct-to-video Tremors 4: The Legend Begins and Timecop: The Berlin Decision. Hunger Games will be Hancock’s first film.

Two new members of The Hunger Games cast have been found. This time around, District 7 is getting the updates with the casting of Tribute Boy and Tribute Girl. According to the official Facebook page for the movie, Sam Ly will play the boy, and Leigha Hancock will play the girl. I can’t seem to find much information on the two Tributes from District 7, but I did find that Johanna Mason was a previous Tribute who ends up befriending Katniss Everdeen. If you recall, actress Kristen Bell is gunning for that role, which is still waiting to be filled.
Hit the jump to find out about our two new actors, and a little bit more information regarding District 7 and Johanna Mason.
Sam Ly has only been in two straight-to-dvd movies, and those are Tremors 4 and Timecop: The Berlin Decision. We don’t know anything else about that actor. As for Leigha Hancock,...
