Know Thyself
boblipton29 January 2024
Two friends meet up on campus. They discuss their love affairs, albeit in child-safe terms. One of them is dissatisfied with the men, and they refuse to change. The other knows the only person she can change is herself, and there are some things she can't change.

It's another typically well meaning and slightly dull restatement of the obvious in this Encyclopedia short. Nonetheless, it may hold some interest for the film buff, because the director, Willard Van Dyke, was Oscar nominated for the short SKYSCRAPER, along with the better remembered Shirley Clarke and Irving Jacoby.

Van Dyke directed his first documentary in 1934. He stuck pretty much to the genre, although he was also head of Museum of Modern Art's film department from 1965 through 1973. He died in 1986 at the age of 79.
