NewsNation is shaking up its primetime — a bit. Starting Monday, Dan Abrams’ “Dan Abrams Live” will shift back to 9 p.m., handing “NewsNation Prime” his 8 o’clock slot.
“NewsNation Prime,” anchored by Marni Hughes, is the country’s only live national primetime newscast.
“Moving to 9 p.m. Et will expose Dan and his show to millions of new viewers at a time when the cable news landscape is going through a lot of transition, with a number of schedule changes and anchor realignment underway,” Michael Corn, the president of news for NewsNation, said in a statement on Friday. “We also believe that ‘NewsNation Prime,’ with its team of experienced reporters and their ability to highlight the day’s big stories, is the perfect fit as the lead-in to Dan’s show.”

Schitt’s Creek alumna Karen Robinson and The Sinner alum Michael Mosley round out the series regular cast for The Missing, Peacock’s eight-episode series from David E. Kelley based on Israeli crime writer Dror A. Mishani’s international bestselling novel The Missing File. They join previously announced leads Jeff Wilbusch and Juliana Canfield in the drama series.
Written by Kelley, who also serves as showrunner and executive producer, The Missing tells the story of Detective Avraham (Wilbusch), whose belief in mankind is his superpower when it comes to uncovering the truth. The two-time Bram Stoker Award-nominated author’s horror novel is billed as a gripping, modern-day spin on the Pied Piper fairy tale, as well as a gritty love letter to the underbelly of Chicago. In it, Detective Lauren Medina’s latest call brings her to investigate a brutally murdered teenager in Humboldt Park―a crime eerily like her sister’s murder decades before. Unlike her strait-laced partner, she recognizes the crime, and the new graffiti popping up all over the city, as a message: the Pied Piper has returned, and debts shall be paid.

Keshet Studios has appointed NBC’s SVP Drama Development Lisa Roos as EVP Television. Roos, who joined the US-based production arm of Keshet International in January, fills the void left by the 2020 departure of Keshet Studios’ longtime Head of Scripted Rachel Kaplan. Roos will be the new No.2 development executive to Keshet Studios President Peter Traugott, to whom she will report. Working alongside Traugott and his team, Roos’ focus will be on developing original IP.
In her previous role as SVP of Drama Development for NBC, which she held for 2.5 years, Roos worked alongside the Keshet Studios team on several projects in development under the company’s production deal with Universal Television.
“We are so excited to have Lisa join Keshet Studios,” Traugott said. “We had such a great experience with her while she was at NBC and look forward to continuing the relationship. She will be a big asset to our team.

Warning: contains Peaky Blinders Series 5 spoilers.
Since Peaky Blinders broke through on Netflix in the US, its creators have dropped hints about the Hollywood superstars lobbying for roles in the Birmingham-based gangster drama. Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, Snoop Dogg, Samuel L. Jackson and more are all fans of the show, and apparently keen to come aboard. Those names don’t appear among the series six cast announced below (though who knows about the planned follow-up feature film), but it’s obvious that Peaky Blinders has no trouble attracting serious talent. Series six welcomes acclaimed This is England, Boardwalk Empire, The Virtues and Line of Duty‘s Stephen Graham, and welcomes back Tom Hardy once again as the apparently unkillable Alfie Solomons. Both will appear in Peaky Blinders’ final TV series, alongside one of the finest British regular casts around. We’ll update this list as more details are confirmed.

“Downton Abbey” actress Joanne Froggatt plays a woman caught up in a twisted psychological web in her new Spectrum Original series “Angela Black,” debuting Monday.
The six-part series, written and produced by Harry and Jack Williams, begins as the story of an abused woman as she starts to find the strength to plot an escape from her husband, Olivier (“Game of Thrones” alum Michiel Huisman). It is also, though, a psychological thriller that involves surprising twists and turns that begin when Angela meets Ed (Samuel Adewunmi), a private investigator who shows up at her door after a brief meeting at a pub, to tell Angela her husband isn’t who she thinks he is. And things only get more complicated from there.

“You’re trying to punish me. Surely the Southern Hemisphere is bad enough.”
So says Edie Henley (Harriet Walter) to her daughter Kate (Frances O’Connor) in the early scenes of the drama “The End.” This dark comedy created by Samantha Strauss comes to Showtime after a 2020 run in Australia; its first episode shows us how and why Edie, a widow, has been brought to Australia from her native England. She has only recently attempted suicide, and her new proximity to her daughter — as well as that daughter’s work in palliative medicine and adamant opposition to assisted suicide — would seem to provide grist for good drama.
The result is a bit mixed, though Walter (a recent standout on TV projects from “The Spanish Princess” to “Succession”) and O’Connor (credits including “The Missing) do good work. For a show intended to contemplate the end of life, the desire to expedite it,...

Warning: contains The Missing series 1 & 2 and Baptiste spoilers.
We first met French detective Julien Baptiste in 2006 (for him) and 2014 (for us). A key thing to know about The Missing’s breakout star is that his investigations take place over multiple timelines – not in a complicated sci-fi way, but in a ‘jazzing up a crime drama’ way. If you ever miss a caption telling you what year it is, it’s usually possible to guess based on Baptiste’s hair. As a rule, smoothly combed = the past, charmingly unkempt = now, shaved head = receiving treatment for a brain tumour/uncovering a Gulf War scandal in a disputed region of North Iraq.
We’re getting ahead of ourselves. In 2006, Tchéky Karyo’s French detective was one month away from an idyllic countryside retirement spent beekeeping with his English wife Celia (Anastasia Hille). Crime though, had other ideas. Specifically, one idea: kidnapping children, the...

The Undertaker will rise once more for a tribute at the upcoming pay-per-view “WWE Survivor Series,” which this November marks 30 years since his WWF debut. Along the way, there have been championships, the WrestleMania “Streak” and a ton of Tombstones.
So yeah, we had some questions for the professional-wrestling legend, whose real name is Mark Calaway, when we spoke early during what WWE has informally dubbed Undertaker Appreciation Month and officially titled “30 Days of the Dead Man.”
Below, read our November Q&a with the (dead) man himself.
TheWrap: What is your current status as an in-ring wrestler? Is it officially retired? Are we going with that?
The Undertaker: I’m going with it, but I work for a man by the name of Vince McMahon, whose motto is ‘Never say never.’ And I’ll kind of leave that there. In my eyes, yeah, I am officially retired.

As America’s Covid woes seemingly continue, WWE has had their own issues with such and have adjusted their set-ups and altered shooting schedules and whatnot. It seems between PPV’s nowadays there is always something horrible or of great importance occurring (that’s 2020 I guess), be it the #SpeakingOut movement or the introduction of face masks for attending Performance Center audiences. Then there is the fact that, courtesy of the WWE Network’s incredible series The Last Ride, news has broken that (never say never of course) WWE icon The Undertaker has said his clash in the Boneyard match with Aj Styles at Wrestlemania 36 in April was his last match. If indeed it was, I’m sure Taker will make the odd appearance but he has meant so much to this writer over the years and his retirement is well earned. There truly will never be another.
Now, onto the business at hand.

WWE has been airing a documentary series on The Undertaker titled The Last Ride, which aired its final episode on Sunday. The series followed Undertaker’s last three years in WWE, chronicling his last half dozen matches with the promotion and his struggle with whether or not to retire over the last three years.
At the end of the final episode, Undertaker said that he’s done. The Boneyard Match against Aj Styles, which took place in front of no fans at this year’s WrestleMania, would be the last of his career … well, at least he thinks so.
“I believe I’m at a place now, post-Boneyard, which was a hellacious battle against one of the best in the business,” he said. “Here you are, climbing on your motorcycle and taking off. There was a lot of thought and a lot of emotion, one of those being ‘are you happy enough with that?...

Exclusive: With heavy heart, author Don Winslow has cancelled plans for a 20-city book tour to promote his new book, Broken. It is no time to be traveling anywhere, much less to bookstores empty because of the Coronavirus scare, so instead he will launch with a “virtual tour” strategy. This is a dilemma that will face any author launching a book in this perilous corridor. Winslow is feeling down over the whole thing because the stops included the independent bookstores that helped turn him from a journeyman into a number one international bestselling author.
Broken is a collection of six short novels connected by themes of crime, corruption, vengeance, justice, loss, betrayal, guilt and redemption. The tour was set to begin April 6 and included stops in major cities across the country from Los Angeles to New York City. Major authors like Lee Child were set to introduce Winslow at sold out events.

On Liar, Joanne Froggatt (of Downton Abbey fame) plays school teacher Laura Nielson, who accuses a handsome widowed doctor (Ioan Gruffudd) of drugging and raping her. The two go out for dinner, where they hit it off, before heading back to Laura’s apartment. Once inside, they flirt over a couple glasses of wine before Laura wakes up alone in bed the next morning, with the sick feeling that she’s been sexually assaulted.
The British miniseries airing on SundanceTV isn’t so much a show about rape, but rather, what happens when someone reports a rape. What unfolds over the six episodes (which will draw to a “satisfying conclusion,” Froggatt tells Et) is scrutiny of Laura’s past as well as the night of the incident, a decision to go public that polarizes friends and family as the show’s anti-heroine becomes more and more unstable.

Hulu’s haunting hit series The Handmaid’s Tale may not immediately get you thinking about home design —it’s set in a dystopian near-future that looks more like the 1600s — but the interiors featured in the show, from Offred’s (Elisabeth Moss) Spartan attic bedroom to the eerily familiar grocery store, were all carefully decorated by production designer Julie Berhoff to hold clues about the characters and the world they live in. “Everything was very purposeful,” Berghoff tells archdigest.com. Here, five subtle decor moments you might have missed.

If loving Cate Blanchett is wrong, Val Kilmer doesn’t want to be right.
Kilmer, 57, made an appearance at the Irvine Improv in Irvine, California, on Wednesday night to introduce a special film screening of his one-man play, Citizen Twain.
During a Q&A, an audience member asked Kilmer who was his favorite costar to work with. “I can’t say Cate Blanchett,” he joked. “I wrote nice things about Cate Blanchett on Twitter and now I’m a pervert.”
He added, “I don’t know why loving an actor that’s so talented is creepy, but I guess I’m creepy.

If you only know Val Kilmer from his movies, you don’t really know Val Kilmer. The actor, who’s played everyone from Batman to Mark Twain onscreen and onstage, has what some might describe as an eccentric streak that most recently manifested in a series of tweets about Cate Blanchett over the weekend. The two appeared in Ron Howard’s “The Missing” and, more recently, Terrence Malick’s “Song to Song”; their time together appears to have left quite an impression on him.

From Star Trek and Field Of Dreams to The Rocketeer and Krull: we salute the film scores of the late, great James Horner.
When composer James Horner died in a plane crash in June 2015, cinema lost one of its most profoundly emotional voices, and the final chapter on Horner's astonishing career has now closed with his last work: Antoine Fuqua's Western remake The Magnificent Seven. Horner actually wrote the score based on the script before the film even started production, such was his passion for it, and it's been posthumously completed by his longtime collaborator Simon Franglen.
To mark the occasion, here are the 25 most seminal scores from a lamented, legendary figure of film music.

It's one of the oldest truisms in Hollywood. Pact with talent for an overhead deal and they'll make their cash cows somewhere else. Universal carries Ron Howard and Brian Grazer's deluxe Imagine deal for years through "The Missing," "Inside Deep Throat" and "Cinderella Man" and where do they make "The Da Vinci Code" and its sequels? Sony. (Since the recession, that deal has been reduced.) In 2006, Sumner Redstone got so mad at gross player Tom Cruise for making more money on "Mission: Impossible III" than Paramount that he kicked him off the lot. Soon after, MGM, in a desperate bid to look good in front of investors, handed Cruise and then producing partner Paula Wagner the keys to the United Artists kingdom. In two years they produced two Cruise vehicles: box-office disaster "Lions for Lambs" and widely panned "Valkyrie," which returned some profits overseas. In fact, the studios have been shedding.

Cate Blanchett is no stranger to the Oscars. The Australian-born actress has two statues already, as well as three other nominations, and is hoping to add to that award season resume this year with buzz surrounding both Carol, a 1950’s-set period drama about a lesbian relationship between a department store clerk (Rooney Mara) and her relationship with a married woman (Blanchett), and Truth, the story of Dan Rather‘s (Robert Redford) dismissal from CBS’ 60 Minutes following investigations into president George W. Bush‘s military service.
Though she plays the titular character in Carol, the argument could be made that Blanchett was more of a supporting player, as Mara actually has more screen time and even beat out Blanchett for the best actress award at Cannes earlier this year. Truth, however, is Blanchett’s film and she could possibly push to get nominated for the lead...

Give the Emmys credit for at least trying to keep up with the current explosion of quality television.
This year, the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences expanded the Best Comedy and Drama Series categories to seven slots each, and they made other minor changes (online voting!) meant to bring the awards into the 21st century. Still, there's more good TV now than even the Academy can keep up with, so the outrage and shock over the snubs and surprises in this morning's Emmy nominations is inevitable. Here are some of the most astonishing omissions and inclusions.
Best Drama Series
The biggest shocker here is the snub of "Empire," the season's breakout hit. Was it too soapy or guilty-pleasure-ish for the Academy to take seriously? Fellow newbie/Twitter sensation "How to Get Away With Murder" was also snubbed. Golden Globe fave "The Affair" got no love, here or in other major categories.

"The Homesman" is a Western that follows a pious, independent woman (Hilary Swank) who must transport three mad women cross-country with the help of a low-life drifter (Tommy Lee Jones). Jones also directed and co-wrote the period drama. Directed by Jon Stewart, "Rosewater" is a docudrama that follows tortured journalist Maziar Bahari (Gael García Bernal) and his eventual release from Iranian authorities. Mel Gibson took on a big movie star role with Ransom. We take a look back at Ron Howard's 1996 thriller...
If you were a regular cinemagoer around 1996, then you can't help but have seen the trailer for Ron Howard's Ransom. Inevitably, time has dampened its impact a little but it was a promo that quite superbly sold the film (which would go on to take more than $300m at the box office worldwide). At first glance a tale of a rich man whose son is kidnapped, the trailer showed how the tables were to be turned: instead of the ransom money being handed over to the kidnappers, Gibson's character offered it as a bounty on the kidnappers' heads instead. The hunt is then turned around, quite cleverly.
Watching Ransom at the time, I always thought that the film, whilst not without merit, never fully delivered on that idea.

Based on a novel by Glendon Swarthout, Tommy Lee Jones’ The Homesman is set in the 1850s American mid-West, and follows the journey of George Briggs (Jones) and Mary Bee Cuddy (Hilary Swank) as they head east with three women in tow. These three women have been driven mad by the harshness of their lives, by bereavement and by heartbreak.
Mary Bee is a God-fearing woman who has a homestead as neat as a pin, money in the bank and plans for the future. What she lacks is a companion to share all of this, but when she openly courts her neighbour, he turns her proposal down because: “You’re plain as a pail and you’re bossy”. This bossy and single woman volunteers to take her three demented neighbours back to more civilised climes when the men are far from willing to step up. Coming across Griggs with a noose around his neck,...
