2004 was an odd year for horror films. We got masterpieces, we were gifted some of the best and worst so-bad-it’s-good films and unexpected sequels seemed to come out of left field regularly and one of those is what we’ll focus on today. With its lead from the first film dead, where could a sequel possibly go? Would they dare to introduce brand new characters, or would they continue the story of the Fitzgerald sisters? Join us on JoBlo Horror Originals as we revisit Ginger Snaps 2: Unleashed (watch it Here).
Coming out 4 years after the original, Ginger Snaps 2: Unleashed takes a turn for the darker side, or even darker side. Brigitte Fitzgerald survives the ordeal with her sister but in the process tasted her sister’s blood. So, like her sister, she starts turning into a werewolf. However, she’s one step ahead in that she...

The 2000 film Ginger Snaps (watch it Here) is my all-time favorite werewolf movie. That was followed by a sequel – Ginger Snaps 2: Unleashed – and a very unexpected prequel – Ginger Snaps Back: The Beginning – and while I’m not as enamored with them as I am with the original movie, I do get some enjoyment out of watching them. The oddball prequel especially. If you’re a fan of Ginger Snaps trilogy as well and happen to have a Region B (or region free) Blu-ray player, you’ll be glad to hear that Second Sight Films is packaging all three movies together in a limited edition UK box set that’s going to be released on October 30th. Just in time for Halloween, which happens to be the setting of the first movie.
Copies of the Ginger Snaps trilogy Blu-ray box set can be pre-ordered directly from Second Sight Films.

Ginger Snaps, John Fawcett‘s coming-of-age werewolf movie, is transforming into a TV series. Sid Gentle Films, a production company behind Killing Eve, is developing the show, which will presumably follow the formula of the first film: a teenage girl becomes a werewolf around the time of her first period. The film spawned two sequels – Ginger Snaps 2: […]

A TV series based on the cult horror films “Ginger Snaps” is in the works from the producers behind AMC’s hit series “Killing Eve.”
The trilogy of “Ginger Snaps” movies, released in the early 2000s, follows a pair of teenage sisters obsessed with death and the occult. The darkly comedic horror films starred Emily Perkins and Katharine Isabelle as Brigitte and Ginger Fitzgerald, the latter of whom gets bitten by a vicious creature and turns into a werewolf. Brigitte must fend off this new, violent version of her sister and stop her from wreaking havoc on their town.
The films failed to be major successes at the box office, but have gone on to garner a cult status and win indie acclaim.

Exclusive: Killing Eve producer Sid Gentle Films is teaming with Copperheart Entertainment, producers of the Ginger Snaps trilogy of cult horror movies, on a TV series adaptation of the darkly comic tale of teenage sisterhood. Anna Ssemuyaba (Guerilla) will write the potential Ginger Snaps TV series, which tells the story of sisters, Ginger and Brigette, who are self-imposed outcasts in their hometown. Inseparable and fascinated with the macabre, they make a pact to escape their sleepy suburban home by sixteen or else take their own lives. But on the night of her first period, Ginger is attacked and infected by a werewolf which unleashes a monstrous kind of puberty. Brigette can’t understand this new version of her sister who is violent and sexual.

William Shatner, Krampus, and zombie elves are featured in A Christmas Horror Story, a festive and frightening holiday horror anthology that's teased in a new poster and photo gallery ahead of its theatrical and VOD release on October 2nd from Image Entertainment.
"Christmas: a time of Joy, Peace and Goodwill, unless you happen to live in the town of Bailey Downs. Here, on Christmas Eve, joy is corrupted when a malevolent spirit traps three teens in a school basement intent on recreating a twisted version of the Nativity story. Peace is shattered when a family returns from a snowy forest with the perfect Christmas tree only to find something is terrifyingly wrong with their seven-year-old son. And goodwill is perverted when a not-so-nice family is hunted down by Krampus, the demonic anti-Santa Claus of Nordic mythology. Even Santa Claus himself is drawn into the horror when he has to...

William Shatner, Krampus, and zombie elves come together in A Christmas Horror Story, a festive and frightening holiday horror anthology that makes its world premiere tonight at the 2015 Fantasia International Film Festival.
There’s trouble at the North Pole at the outset of A Christmas Horror Story. We’re introduced to a weary and bloodied Santa Claus in the reindeer stable before backtracking 12 hours and stepping into the town limits of Bailey Downs—the same place where werewolves roamed in Ginger Snaps.
It’s Christmas Eve and radio DJ Dan (William Shatner) is cozied up behind the mike at the studio, ringing in his beloved holiday with spiked eggnog and tinsel-themed tunes. Elsewhere in town, three teenagers sneak into the basement of a school where a grisly murder-by-crucifixion happened one year previously. Also out and about are two families—one that encounters mystical evil in the forest and another that runs across the vengeful Krampus.

From Blood and Donuts and Ginger Snaps to Splice and, his latest, Haunter, producer Steve Hoban has been a staple in the Canadian horror scene since the mid Nineties.
He’s now working again with director Vincenzo Natali on a new experimental web series called Darknet that should be making its way onto television here in the States in the near future. For now, as of 12:01am this morning, fans can watch the first installment over at Darknetfiles.com. And, believe me, it’s worth checking out. Consisting of interweaving storylines and connected characters in different instances of urban horror, the first episode runs about 25 minutes and features some really solid, well-crafted moments. Just before the debut, Hoban was kind of enough to speak with us for a few minutes to talk about the series.

It's happened to all of us before: you see someone on the street you swear you know. But what if you recognized that person not because they look like a friend, but because they look just like you? That's the mind-bending premise of "Orphan Black," the new sci-fi series premiering on Space and BBC America on March 30.
And while good science-fiction always grounds its more out-there elements in something familiar, like a shared personal experience or universal theme, "Orphan Black" takes the idea of identity crisis and multiplies it. That's because the series star Tatiana Maslany doesn't just play one leading role in the new show, she plays enough to necessitate the use of a cheat sheet.
It all starts when Sarah (Maslany) witnesses a woman who looks just like her, Beth (also Maslany), jump in front of a train. And looking for a way out of her own less-than-perfect life,...

Dweller is the first book I’ve read by Jeff Strand & an extremely satisfying introduction it is to this authors work. Try and imagine Clive King’s Stig of the Dump – about a little boy who meets a caveman behind his house - scripted by Daniel Clowes and optioned for adaptation by Lucky McGee (May) and your already halfway into the blood-soaked woods of Dweller.
Toby is a solitary child, prone to wandering off and dreaming up outlandish fantasies. The boy is mercilessly bullied in school by two older boys, has a father who would prefer to take a belt to him than sit down and talk to the boy and doesn’t even have a single friend – until he meets a cave dwelling Troglodyte in the woods surrounding his house. At first the petrified child flees and forgets the encounter...

Frank Skinner's Opinionated, 30 Rock, Charlie Brooker and the UK bow for The Prisoner lead this week's TV highlights. Plus lots of movies too...
Frequenters of the site will be aware that we're friends of the comedians and often voice our appreciation of anything that can give us a giggle. News and current events usually don't. So, we welcome the arrival of Frank Skinner's Opinionated tonight, Friday, April 16th at 10:00pm on BBC2, a show that brings guest comedians to studio audiences around the country to talk about topical stuff. We're of the mind that if you can't laugh, you'd often cry at today's goings on, so any help in that area is promptly ticked on our telly timetables.
On Saturday, April 17th, a show that is perhaps unwise to be shown in pubs will air at 9:30pm on ITV. We say that as it's the reimagining of The Prisoner,...

Jennifer Lawrence, actor"Winter's Bone"Jennifer Lawrence had to fight tooth and nail to land the part of Ree Dolly, the iron-willed protagonist of the hardscrabble drama "Winter's Bone." The film—which picked up Sundance's Grand Jury Prize for dramatic feature and Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award and was acquired for distribution by Roadside Attractions—tracks 17-year-old Ree's search for her drug-dealing father, as well as her struggle to support her poverty-stricken family and still make it through high school.Initially, the filmmakers concluded that Lawrence, 19, was "too pretty" to take on such a dark, stripped-down sort of role. "They said I wasn't right," she recalls. "So to prove to them that that was in fact not true, I chased them all the way to New York. They probably thought I was crazy. I think I was going 50 hours without sleep, so that could've had something to do with me looking the part: 'You look hideous.

It was a review-heavy week as we entered October to highlight some great films for your Fall queue, and the news continued to flow about the biggest event in Fango history - the Fangoria Trinity Of Terrors, which invades Las Vegas on Halloween Weekend.
Get caught up below the jump!
Fangoria Trinity Of Terrors: Palms Casino Resort, Las Vegas, Nv - 10/30-11/01/2009
Latest Trinity Updates:
Sneak-Preview: Trinity Of Terrors Collector's book! George A. Romero's Survival Of The Dead to screen at the Trinity Of Terrors! Black Devil Doll to screen at the Trinity Of Terrors!
