‘Fantastic Four’ is set to be the next big movie in the MCU. Just a few days ago, the release date and cast were announced. Pedro Pascal will play Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby will be Sue Storm, Ebon Moss-Bachrach will portray The Thing, and Joseph Quinn will take on the role of the Human Torch. Filming is scheduled to start this summer. Due to a change in the release date, ‘Thunderbolts’ will now come out earlier than expected, on May 2, 2025. Despite the main cast being confirmed, there’s still no news about who the villain might be. While most of the main roles are filled, there are still smaller parts to cast. Rumors suggest that Marvel Studios is looking for a comedian to play the role of H.E.R.B.I.E.

‘Fantastic Four’ is currently the hottest upcoming MCU movie only a few days ago release date and cast were announced, confirming what we’ve known for quite a while. Pedro Pascal will be MCU’s new Reed Richards, with Vanessa Kirby taking on the role of Sue Storm. The Thing and the Human Torch will be played by Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Joseph Quinn respectively.
Filming is expected to begin this summer, and due to the release date being switched, ‘Thunderbolts’ lost its July 2025 spot being moved to release earlier than expected on May 2, 2025. Despite the main cast being confirmed, there was not a speck of news regarding the movie’s possible villain.
And while most of the main cast has been revealed there are plenty of smaller roles that are yet to be filled and recently according to rumors Marvel Studios expressed the desire for a comedia to play a role of H.

Welcome to Sales to Astonish, a new column in association with comics retailer The Unreality Store, in which Matthew De Monti brings us news on comic sales and the general moves in the comic market over the past month or so!
September was a month of change. I’d been conscious that although the website will always remain the cornerstone of The Unreality Store, website traffic and orders have been on a downward trend since April. Despite running various promotions and sales they seem to be a very reactive event to what is an underlying challenge of getting people to the website and then in turn making a purchase.
I had tried to complement the online sales by doing Comic Cons and readers of previous columns will know that these have been decidedly hit and miss. I had already made the decision to stop attending conventions after Peterborough and Market...

The Hollywood Reporter has broken the news that Sophie Skelton of Outlander will be leading the cast of the UK murder mystery thriller Row, which is currently in pre-production and will begin filming in Scotland next month. Joining Skelton in the cast are Bella Dayne (Troy: Fall of a City), Akshay Khanna, and Mark Strepan (Before We Die).
Row will mark the feature debut of director Matthew Losasso and writer Nick Skaugen – and Skaugen has an acting role in the film as well. The story centers on a woman who washes ashore on a blood-stained rowing boat. With all of her crew mates missing, presumed dead, she must try and piece together fractured memories of the ordeal to prove her innocence.
Skaugen is producing the film with line producer Matt Schichter. Losasso provided the following statement: “An immense ocean appears to stretch infinitely in all directions and yet on board the Valiant,...

Wednesday’s episode of American Horror Story: Double Feature was every mother’s worst nightmare, no matter what planet she’s from.
The penultimate hour of “Death Valley” welcomed Cody Fern as Valiant Thor, a handsome (and apparently robotic) liaison between the humans and aliens. His primary job, besides giving Mamie the mind-blowing sex that queen deserved, was overseeing what he called “the business at hand.” More specifically, he was there to process the harvesting of a new race, one that was “neither human nor us but able to survive on this earth.”

Australian outfit Hiatus Kaiyote have released a new song, “Red Room,” from their upcoming album, Mood Valiant, out June 25th via Brainfeeder Records/Ninja Tune.
The tune toes the line between slinky and woozy lo-fi soul, with tight bass and drums, winding guitar, and languid piano flowing beneath Naomi “Nai Palm” Saalfield’s vocals. The track also arrives with a music video, directed by Tré Koch, that finds Hiatus Kaiyote in a room that increasingly — and fittingly — turns red, including an old car with “Mood Valiant” scribbled all over it,...

The tale of the Valiant Cinematic Universe is already a strange one, even if the entire franchise’s output spans just one box office bomb. Looking back, Vin Diesel saying that he would travel to China regardless of how the studio felt about the rapidly spreading infection circulating around Wuhan so that he could promote Bloodshot feels like a lifetime ago, and since then, there’s been no shortage of rumors and speculation over what the future could potentially hold.
After all, the action star has made it his entire life’s goal to feature in as many franchises as humanly possible, so Bloodshot underwhelming commercially was hardly going to put much of a dent in his plans. Calling the movie mediocre would be generous, though, and it suffered from being one of the last major titles to hit theaters before the world got shut down, making just $37 million at...

It might be hard to imagine now given the continued and unprecedented success of the genre, but for a long time studios believed that superhero movies were too risky a proposition and not worth either the effort or investment required, with the most high-profile comic book hits in history up until the turn of the 21st Century mostly comprised of either Superman or Batman adventures.
The disastrous reception to Joel Schumacher’s Batman & Robin almost killed the genre completely, and while many point to Bryan Singer’s X-Men as the project that kicked off the explosion in popularity that’s still going strong two decades later, 1998’s Blade was arguably even more pivotal in showing the studios how comic book characters could be the subjects of great movies while also treating them seriously and with the greatest respect.

Marvel and DC are seen as the two main pillars of comic book movies with an interconnected universe and although they are seen as the two titans of the space, there is more than enough room for other comic book entities to make a name for themselves — and peeking its head around the corner and raising an eyebrow is Valiant Entertainment.
Over two years ago, Dan Mintz’s Dmg Entertainment took full control of the indie comics outfit Valiant Entertainment with over 2,000 characters in its library and now they are ready to disrupt the comic book cinematic universe in a space that has been occupied by Marvel and DC — and mostly dominated by the former.

In 1992, every comics company had a guy with gun – DC’s Deathstroke, Marvel’s Punisher and Cable, Fleetway’s Judge Dredd, and then came Valiant’s Bloodshot.
In the 2010s, every studio needed a comics franchise to exploit for box office supremacy – Warner’s DC, Disney’s McU, and Sony, not happy sharing Spider-Man with Disney, picked up Valiant’s Bloodshot from the Columbia scrap heap by way of Paramount.
In the intervening years, filmgoers had already been treated to an endless array of gun-toting, cool-looking figures from Neo to John Wick (who just happen to be played by the endlessly fascinating Keanu Reeves).
There was no particular demand for one more, certainly not one played by Vin Diesel whose range goes from A to B. From Pitch Black to Hobbs and Shaw, he’s pretty much the same guy, without the range of roles his rival, Dwayne Johnson,...

We’re at the point where there are dozens of Marvel movies, dozens of DC movies, and a couple Dark Horse ones sprinkled here and there. With the release of Vin Diesel’s Bloodshot, we’re getting our first attempt at a movie adapting Valiant Comics. As it is, Valiant has only been represented outside of the comic page via several video games in the ’90s and a web series from a couple years ago centering around the character Ninjak.
If Bloodshot ends up driving enough interest, we might get another Valiant property on the silver screen to maybe push for a Valiant Cinematic Universe. At the very least, there should be some people interested in reading Bloodshot stories and maybe stretching into the wider comic universe.

Vin Diesel’s Bloodshot became the latest movie to fall victim to the Coronavirus pandemic, with the comic book adaptation failing to hit a $10 million domestic opening weekend. Even though the movie cost a modest $42 million to produce, the closure of cinemas around the world made it virtually impossible for the flick to turn a profit, so Sony instead decided to make it available for digital download after just two weeks in theaters.
While it may recoup some of the box office losses, Bloodshot might still end up costing the studio money, which has already thrown plans for the proposed Valiant Comics cinematic universe into disarray. In 2015, China-based Dmg Entertainment signed a nine-figure deal to turn their properties into an interconnected set of movies and TV shows, and it looks like Bloodshot may have already rendered the experiment a bust, like many a failed cinematic universe before it.

Well, that was fast. One week after Bloodshot bombed at the box office, sources close to Wgtc – the same ones who told us Jim Carrey is returning as the Mask in Space Jam 2 and that Transformers is being rebooted, both of which we now know to be true – say Paramount is looking to reboot the character as they plan on buying the rights back from Sony. Apparently, their plan is to make a Valiant cinematic universe with the other properties they own, including Harbinger, Faith, X-o Manowar, etc.
From what we’ve heard, Vin Diesel wants to return to reprise the role, but the studio is looking to start fresh with a younger actor. No final decision has been made just yet, but either way, it’ll be a soft reboot so that they can fit it into their cinematic universe, which is now taking shape behind the scenes. No...

With our world changing in real-time as America grips with the coronavirus outbreak, movie theaters across America stand as the last line of entertainment to remain open, as theme parks, sports games, and events close down for indefinite amounts of time. Sources tell me that it will come down to local governments in regards to which cinemas remain open or closed. To date, the big three chains –AMC, Regal, and Cinemark– haven’t declared a nationwide shutdown, though I hear 11 movie theaters in the NorthEast have shuttered.
What is shocking from a financial standpoint is that in the wake of a year that saw all movies theaters operating on all cylinders around the clock to deliver the biggest domestic opening in history with Avengers: Endgame ($357.1M), we could be poised to see the biggest drought at the box office in the wake of major studios pulling their big spring features A Quiet Place Part II,...

“You don’t have to have a history to have a future,” Guy Pearce’s Dr. Emil Harting says to Ray Garrison (Vin Diesel), the titular hero of director David S.F. Wilson’s Bloodshot. Garrison is a soldier whose shattered body has been restored to life by Harting via microscopic robots called “nanites” that all but replaced Garrison’s blood. With enhanced strength, speed, durability and healing powers, Garrison is all but indestructible–yet his memories are the one thing he cannot seem to retrieve.
But Bloodshot does, of course, have a history as one of the flagship titles of Valiant Comics, a long independent publisher that created its own universe of heroes and villains as counter-programming for those tired of the usual DC and Marvel suspects. Yet while various incarnations of Valiant have been around for better than 30 years, its characters and their backstories have not quite entered...

Cape Town, South Africa native David S.F. After launching a visual effects company in his native country with Sharlto Copley (who has gone on to success as an actor in movies like District 9 and Maleficent), Wilson was recruited by future Deadpool and Terminator: Dark Fate director Tim Miller to come work at his Blur Studio effects and animation house in Venice, California.

Australian actor Guy Pearce is known for an eclectic and varied career in which he has rarely played the same kind of role twice. From his days on the iconic Australian series Neighbours (which made him a star there) to his breakout role as a steadfast detective in L.A. Anyone expecting a fully-fledged Valiant Cinematic Universe however, will be somewhat disappointed, as the other major part of the Valiant Comic Book world, Harbinger, left Sony to be picked up by Paramount. Nonetheless, independent of Bloodshot’s success, we could expect to see a variety of Valiant comics down the road. While these projects are not fully in production yet, here are some things that we

One of the execs behind Valiant's resurrection is starting a new publisher with a different plan. Meet Bad Idea.
Dinesh Shamdasani, one of the people who helped make Valiant Comics' rebirth in 2011 such a success, is back at it with a new comic company. For fans of his tenure with the Bloodshot publisher, this new venture is going to look familiar.
Shamdasani and his team announced Bad Idea Comics, a new publisher with a curious business model. The company plans on only releasing one or two titles a month, only as physical media, without collections or variant covers, to only 20 comic shops around the United States at launch (with plans to expand into more as certain criteria are met).
The creators on board include some outstanding names.
Joshua Dysart, writer of Imperium and The Life and Death of Toyo Harada. Jody Houser, the definitive writer behind Faith.

Sony Pictures has recently announced that the release date for Vin Diesel's Bloodshot is being pushed back from February 21st, 2020 to March 13, 2020. Although the film is moving nearly a month away from its original debut, the delay will have the Valiant comic adaptation in a much better position to make its mark at the box office. Comics gave us everything we needed in 2019. The best ones surprised even us.
e stand at the end of a decade of massive change, and the comics industry is not immune to those shifts. There are more ways to read more comics about more things than ever before. That’s why the best comics of 2019 contains not one, but three Superman books.
I’m joking. There are only two textual Superman books, but they’re both wildly different, and they and the rest of the best comics of 2019 are a vastly different set than we would have seen even five years ago. There were some really great comics published this year, so even going to 20 won’t catch all of them. And, of course, I’m not independently wealthy or able to manipulate time, so I absolutely missed some great ones that you should feel comfortable yelling...

Still, the events like the recent screening of ‘Valiant,’ a documentary on the inaugural season of Golden Knights, shown to 18,000+ ticket holders at T-Mobile Arena, for Knights’ recent game against Calgary Flames, are not witnessed often. It’s about time Vin Diesel got back in on the comic book movie game. His latest film “Bloodshot,” based on the Valiant comic book character, sees him cast as a super soldier with mutant healing abilities brought back from the dead and set on exacting revenge on the person who killed his wife.
But if it sounds like we’ve been here before, you’re right. Diesel’s character Ray Garrison has been told he’s a soldier recently killed in action and brought back to life by an organization that’s managed to do so successfully for the first time. Like Wolverine, he’s got super strength and can heal instantly when injured.
The only difference is he’s been engineered and given fake memories and is now being programmed to kill any target his handlers wish, reliving his memories of revenge over and over again.

You know we’ve reached peak superhero filmmaking when the first question you have about the latest “Harbinger” news is, “How is this going to affect the Valiant cinematic universe?” We are truly witnessing the fall of the Roman Empire, folks.
Now, you either read that introduction and thought “ok, that’s all well and good, but how does it affect the Valiant shared cinematic universe?” or “Who the fuck is ‘Harbinger’ and why do I care?” I’m going to guess many of you are in the latter camp, so before we get to the news, let’s take a step back.

As much as I don’t want to discount any story and say that it’s been done before in various ways, it’s still amusing that a lot of us try to kid ourselves, including Sandy Schaefer from ScreenRant who, no offense, even goes so far as to compare Bloodshot with other movie icons like The Crow and Robocop. While the movie already has a few high-profile actors it’s also bringing in Vin Diesel as the titular character and it would seem that Sony is really pushing to make it look as though they know what they’re doing. The CW is taking a new stab at developing Dr. Mirage, a drama series adaptation of the Valiant graphic novel, with Reign co-creator Laurie McCarthy, Dmg Entertainment and CBS Television Studios.
Dr. Mirage is based on the graphic novel about a female paranormal investigator who can communicate with dead souls except the one she wants to reach – the love of her life.
The project was previously in development at the CW during the 2016-17 season with Annabelle scribe Gary Dauberman writing and Dmg Entertainment and CBS Studios producing.
It is now being redeveloped, with McCarthy writing the adaptation based on Dauberman’s initial script.
McCarthy executive produces with Dan Mintz, founder and CEO of Dmg Entertainment and Dmg’s Chris Cowles. CBS TV Studios is the studio.
McCarthy co-created drama series Reign, which aired for four seasons on the CW and also was produced by CBS Studios.
