This travelogue of West Germany begins in its second largest city, Hamburg, one of Europe's most important seaports despite its inland location. Much of the city was destroyed during WWII and almost a decade later that damage is still evident despite reconstruction. A specific site visited is Hagenbeck Zoo which houses a vast array of exotic animals side by side unlike they would be in nature. The next city stop is Bremen, another seaport, the second largest in Germany, and like Hamburg also situation inland. One unusual landmark is a windmill which seems out of place in Germany. The next city stop is the capital of Bavaria, Munich, München in German. A specific site visited is the town hall which houses the world famous clock carillon chiming in performance at 11:00 every morning. Bavaria and Munich in certain circles are best known for beer and celebrations around the beverage. The final city stop is Heidelberg, a university town famous for the legend of the student prince. With the visit to these four cities, there is a hope for a new post-war spirit to bring the country and the entire fatherland together in peace.
