The proprietor of fish and chip shop `Joe's Plaice' is married to Mary. For ages they have been trying for a baby. When they conceive in the middle of a thunderstorm, Joe suspects it is not really his. However the identify of the real Father is of some concern to Joe when he finds out.
At under 5 minutes running time this short really only has time to make one or two jokes and it does manage to do that well. Sadly they come in the final scene and as the credits roll. Before this it is interesting but not very funny. The actual punch-line is pretty good though (still funny despite it being sign-posted a few minutes prior to this).
The voice work by Timothy Spall is good value and adds to the film. His down to earth delivery of the lines make them work better than they probably did on paper. The animation is quite basic but it works once you get used to it.
Not a perfect short but it saves it's funniest bits for the final minute and thus left me feeling tickled by it where I had maybe been a little distracted during the first 2 or 3 minutes.
