You're going to hate the endless looping song after about 5 minutes without a doubt. Trouble is, the game goes on for hours. The more you play, the more grind you get, but there is payoff for the work. Biggest complaint is how every step needs Nintendo Power or an online walk-through to figure out what to do next. Some of it is intuitive, but not much. There's no intro, quest updates, or clues to point you in the right direction.
Despite these flaws, there are a few things going for the game. Combat system is a bit unique compared to other RPG and adventure games. A bit quicker paced, but enemies can get in their quick-kill cheap shots too. The ability to save on this is huge because of the time to complete and difficulty. While simple, there is an ending after a few 'boss fights' which is mildly rewarding. The greatest relief however, is that the song changes. That loop gets old quick though too.
I'd recommend giving this a whirl if found on the cheap. Looks like this game is given a bad rap, but I've played much worse and can see what was trying to be accomplished here.
