The Best YEARS Tape
Theo Robertson28 March 2004
In the early 1990`s the BBC released several videos dedicated to DOCTOR WHO featuring random episodes . In many ways these were a precursor to the concept of the DVD but they were also very patchy with episodes being very unrepresentative of their eras , the video featuring THE TROUGHTON YEARS was especially poor . This release entitled DALEKS- THE EARLY YEARS is almost certainly the best of the range

We`re treated to interviews with dalek operator John Scott Martin , Dalek designer Raymond Cusack , Dalek voiceman Roy Skelton and we see archive footage of Terry Nation - The man who created the Daleks for the show . We`re also treated to two full episodes of the epic Dalek tale THE DALEKS MASTERPLAN and the soul surviving episode of EVIL OF THE DALEKS a story of legendary acclaim amongst fans who saw it in 1967 . On top of that we see several clips of what was then recently discovered footage from the show that was thought to be lost forever

As I said this is the best of the YEARS tape , but I`ve got to ask if this is so good then why were most of the previous releases so bad ?
