"Ghiblies: Episode 2" is a 24-minute animated short film by Studio Ghibli and this one here is a sequel to the first episode from 2 years earlier that was only half as long approximately. And it is very different I think. Yes the focus is as the title tells us again on Studio Ghibli employees who are somewhat making fun of themselves in here, but this time there are stories and plots that go on for several minutes, not just a collection of random snippets like in the first. With this one, Ghibli proves that they can also deliver in terms of comedy. The chili part early on (almost like a reference about a fire-spying dragon, that's how much movie magic there is to Ghibli) was pretty funny indeed and some of the stuff afterward delivered mostly from the sweet perspective as you know Ghibli from most of their many successful full feature films. After seeing the first Ghiblies, I would have not said it, but after checking this one out I am a bit disappointed that there is no Ghiblies 3 and with the 15 years already between this sequel and now, it seems unlikely they will ever make one, also because many employees have also retired since then I guess. Fingers crossed I am wrong and there will be another. Ghiblies 2 gets a thumbs-up.
