Charles Prince, his gift of a posy spurned in favor of a rival's expensive ring, goes to enlist in the Balkan Wars. Sort of. That is, he goes to Pathe Freres and talks them into making a movie about him enlisting (and fighting) in the Balkans. That'll teach her!
Anyway, that's what I think happens. This was restored by Pathe's television division some time ago, and it looks to me as if they may have stuck together two unrelated short subjects.
The fun in this movie consists of revealing the tricks of the trade, in showing how camera placement and perhaps 20 extras can become a cast of thousands. We also get a look at Ferdinand Zecca, now a bald-headed Pathe executive.
