In 2013, filmmaker Marc Meyers took a trip to Bath, Ohio, to visit the suburb where serial killer Jeffery Dahmer spent his formative years. Several months earlier, Meyers had optioned the graphic novel My Friend Dahmer – a memoir by cartoonist Derf Backderf about his brief but intense high-school friendship with the man who would become known as the Milwaukee Cannibal – and he was figuring out how to adapt it into a film. "[Derf] said, 'You're welcome to come by for a couple days and I'll show you around where I grew up,...

Stars: James Aubrey, Tom Chapin, Hugh Edwards, Tom Gaman | Written and Directed by Peter Brook
Peter Brook is best known for his work in theatre, but his 1963 screen adaptation of William Golding’s English Lit classic is no quaint repertory effort. Made relatively cheaply (the opening plane crash is literally a photograph of a plane spinning around) with non-professionals in the roles of the children, it’s a remarkably raw and brutal telling of a fable which may be as relevant now as ever before.
In case you’ve been living under a rock, this wartime story concerns a group of evacuating public schoolboys who are stranded on a remote island after their plane crashes. At first it’s all fun and frolics as the kids look forward to their freedom. They nominate a leader, Ralph (James Aubrey). Alpha male Jack (Tom Chapin) isn’t happy about this, and he...

“Late Show” host Stephen Colbert called President Trump a “jerk” on Friday night for his behavior with world leaders at the Nato summit in Brussels, including pushing aside a prime minister and engaging the president of France in an intense handshake. The now-viral video of the shove shows Trump putting his hand on Montenegro Prime Minister Dusko Markovic, pushing him aside and stepping around him before adjusting his jacket. “Out of my way… Alpha male coming through,” Colbert joked,”I don’t think that kind of shoving is appropriate for an International Summit. That’s the kind of shoving that belongs at the buffet.

How do you screw this up? You've got three leading actresses – Susan Sarandon, Naomi Watts and Elle Fanning – who are usually worth watching in anything. But 3 Generations is pushing it. Even nurturing talent can't breathe life into a script that is completely D.O.A.
In fact, the movie has been lying dormant on a Weinstein Company shelf since it debuted at the 2015 Toronto Film Festival, under the title About Ray. Clearly, director and co-writer Gaby Dellal's film has been much fiddled with in the interim – and not for the good.

Congratulations, Bob Morley! The star of The 100 has officially defeated two-time winner Sam Heughan to become the 2017 Alpha Male in one of our most exciting competitions ever, all thanks to you guys! Morley, with help from his adorable dog, sends his thanks in the adorable video above. "Thank you for making me the E! Online Alpha Male for 2017," he says, holding the cutest puppy you've ever seen. "I think the win is more of a testament to the passion of The 100 fans, so this one's for you. ... It's an honor. Don't know how much of an Alpha I am. I can't even get this one to sit." And then there were two. It's the final round of Alpha Male Madness and it's time to determine a winner. Will Outlander's Sam Heughan take the title for a third year in a row, or will The 100's Bob Morley be victorious? We have no doubt that it's going to be a supremely tough final round as you figure it out, and we do not envy the choice ahead. Luckily, we're neutral in this battle, so we don't have to choose, but we're happy to sit back and watch while you vote like crazy over the next four days! We're so close to declaring a winner for Alpha Male Madness 2017! Just four actors remain in the competition after a brutal round of (mostly) costar against costar, and whatever happens, it'll be a brand new fight to the finish. Two-time winner and Outlander star Sam Heughan is still in the game, but he's facing off against Supernatural's Misha Collins, Shameless' Noel Fisher, and The 100's Bob Morley. Heughan, Fisher, and Morley have all been in the lead since round one, but Collins is somewhat of an unexpected contender in this round, since his costar Jensen Ackles received more votes in every round except for the one where it counted. Not so fast Savant — with the help of correspondent input, DVD Savant presents more information on David Swift’s adaptation of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying — correcting and modifying some assumptions in my first review. Don’t worry — it’s good reading.
A Savant article
This is an odd circumstance. I routinely update, modify, correct and de-stupidify DVD Savant reviews, but this time I’m taking a more radical step. In my March 25 coverage of Twilight Time’s Blu-ray of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, I made a big point of the fact that David Swift’s film adaptation had not made many changes. Several songs were dropped, but that would seem the right thing to do considering that the movie wasn’t planned as a Road Show — it’s only 121 minutes in duration and has no break for an intermission. The much missed...

Reid is in prison on Criminal Minds, but as "Alpha Male" shows, he has more immediate problems than the possible 25 years-to-life he could serve if his trial doesn't go his way.
Also, while the team may be worried about Reid, they do have to travel to Philadelphia to work a case involving an UnSub throwing acid in his victims' faces. And just like in "Collision Course," this case shows painful ramifications of rejection.

Of all the characters to have filtered through Bau, Dr. Spencer Reid heading into a prison cell is the most likely.
Perhaps that's what makes this exclusive look at Criminal Minds Season 12 Episode 15 so effective.
As Reid filters into his new "home" with all the other convicted and potentially guilty or innocent men he'll be spending his foreseeable future with, it hits home how easily anybody can find themselves in that situation.
Memory loss, an unbelievable tale of innocence or the lack of any other potential suspects could all be viable reasons you become the target of an intensive investigation.
Would your background be squeaky clean enough to keep you out of the hot seat?
I would have thought Reid's, if anybody's, would have given him a get out of jail free pass.
On "Alpha Male," he'll find himself in new and unsteady surroundings trying to survive.

Dear Diary.
Those of us who hadn't read the books couldn't fully comprehend the importance of Elena Gilbert's opening words on The Vampire Diaries Season 1.
Nor did we understand just how much we'd come to love the witty banter, thought provoking monologues, and snappy one-liners we would encounter over the course of eight seasons.
Now that The Vampire Diaries Season 8 is in the final stretch, we thought it was time to take a walk down memory lane to relive some of the best quotes* from The Vampire Diaries. Because there are so many awesome quotes from the show's run, we're breaking this down into two installments.
Up first, The Vampire Diaries Seaons 1 through 3. Sit back, relax, and enjoy!
*Editor's note: I chose these quotes myself. So they're my best quotes. Feel free to add yours in the comments!

5.19 Taming Of The Wu
After a few weeks of careful manoeuvring around some of the show’s key storylines, Taming Of The Wu finally throws that caution to the wind as our heroes find themselves increasingly shrouded in danger.
Forgoing the regular Wesen of the Week procedural, the show this week at last focuses on the imminent threat from Black Claw, with some of our favourite characters unaware of how much jeopardy they’re in.
Thankfully though we saw the welcome return of Hadrian’s Wall (Hw) warriors Meisner and Trubel, who have been Mia for the past few weeks – presumably taking the fight to all four corners of the earth in their mission to track down and destroy the bad guys.
It’s good to have them back.

The Ufc returns this weekend with a rare Sunday night show as Ufc Fight Night 81 goes down in Boston, Ma with a bantamweight title fight between the surging T.J. Dillashaw and former champion Dominick Cruz.
Dillashaw has been on a high the past year and a half, having upset dominant champion Renan Barao, and beat the ex-champ again in a rematch, with a win over Joe Soto sandwiched in between the Barao fights. Dillashaw also had a highly publicized split from Urijah Faber’s Team Alpha Male, but the bottom line is that he’s the biggest success story to come out of The Ultimate Fighter in years, and has looked great in the octagon.
However, come Sunday, he’s facing former bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz – a man who never actually lost his title. Instead, he was stripped of the belt due to injury, something that has plagued him throughout his career.

Step out of the way fellas, it's the ladies' turn! After crowning 2015's Alpha Male Madness winner earlier this summer (Congrats again, Sam Heughan!), the time has come to launch our annual Girl on Top Tournament, which sets out to find TV's ultimate leading lady. Will newcomers like Outlander's Caitriona Balfe and Empire's Taraji P. Henson be able to take home the prize? or will vets such as Castle's Stana Katic, who won last year's tourney, and The Vampire Diaries' Nina Dobrev be able to fend them off? Who knows who'll win this year's battle, but one thing's for sure: We don't envy you guys for having to choose between so many...

The debut feature of actor Steve Oram (Sightseers, TV’s Glue), Aaaaaaaah! stars Julian Barratt, Toyah Willcox, Julian Rhind-Tutt, Steve Oram, Lucy Honigman, Tom Meeten and Sean Reynard. The supporting cast include Noel Fielding, Holli Dempsey, Shelley Longworth, Alice Lowe, Tony Way and Waen Shepherd.
Alpha Male, Smith and his Beta, Keith, make a move to take over a local community. They hook up with restless Female, Denise, igniting a deadly feud in which emotions run high and deep-seated grudges re-surface amongst the tribe. Are we not men? Or are we simply beasts? Steve Oram’s debut feature is a celluloid primal sceam in which the entire cast speak in grunts and gibberish – an anarchic, hilarious, disturbing and touching look at the human condition.

Did you hear a lot of delighted screaming around 4:40 p.m. on Saturday? If you did, it was most likely in response to Outlander's Sam Heughan finally living up to his word at the Outlander Comic-Con panel by dressing up as a Colin O'Donoghue-style pirate, eyeliner and all. A couple of months ago, Heughan and Once Upon A Time's Colin O'Donoghue were the final two guys in E! Online's Alpha Male Madness tournament, and the two of them made a promise on Twitter: Whoever won would give their fans the pleasure of seeing them dress up as the other, meaning Colin in a kilt and Sam decked out in guyliner. Sam eventually took home the prize, and had yet to make good on his...

People can exclusively announce that Discovery Channel is premiering a Naked and Afraid spin-off called Naked and Afraid Xl on July 12. According to a release from the network, the show "is both a survival and societal challenge. How will these survivalists respond to each other? Will they band together as one large group or will they break apart into smaller groups to survive?"
As implied by its title, the competition is supersized, with 12 survivalists (six men and six women) enduring 40 days in the wild without the comfort or convenience of food,...

Welcome To The Jungle.
By Mark Cerulli
After a 14-year cinematic hibernation, the dinosaurs of Jurassic Park roar back with a vengeance. This fourth installment in the franchise had a lot to get right – it had to stand alone as entertainment for the masses who haven’t seen the 1993 original and make the series seem fresh and relevant, while fanning the flames of awe with which we (well, most of us anyway) hold dinosaurs. It also had to acknowledge that today’s world is far darker, more commercial and more cynical than 1993. Jurassic World succeeds on all counts. Instead of picking up where Jurassic 3 left off way back when, Jurassic World creates a new narrative – the park has been open for years and is a thriving tourist destination. But like any theme park, it needs to be updated to keep the public coming back. Although they have herds of Triceratops,...

Mad Men has come to an end. We're all very sad about that, yes, but thankfully, the drama continues to live on in the hearts, minds and wardrobes of everyone it has touched.
A great example: The thriving community of Mad Men-related fan art is alive and well on DeviantArt. The show's aesthetic has provided a fertile ground for artists of all stripes to play with, and Aaron Kirby is one such artist. Going by AtomicKirby, he playfully combines all kinds of pop culture touchstones with retro illustrations. Check out his Mad Men series, which positions the show's various...

Gotham, Season 1, Episode 20: ‘Under the Knife’
Written by John Stephens
Directed by Tj Scott
Aired Mondays at 8pm (Et) on Fox
The search for the serial killer known as The Ogre continues with Gordon on edge, convinced that his loved one, Dr. Leslie Thompkins, may be in imminent danger. This turns out to be a very clever misdirect that brings Barbara back into the main story. The episode’s most interesting development comes when The Ogre realizes the truth and is left to consider whether or not he should kill her. At this point Barbara is so deep in her self loathing that The Ogre actually begins to see her as a romantic candidate instead of a simple victim, which makes this possibly the strangest meet-cute on television. The possibility that Barbara could be another contender for his affections really livens up the Ogre storyline as does the oddly...

Plus, fan faves from The Walking Dead, Ouat, Batb and The Originals are all still in it to win it. But it's anyone's game as we enter the Sweet 16...
