excruciatingly unfunny
FieCrier15 September 2007
While I do greatly admire The Golem, Nosferatu, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari and Night of the Living Dead, I wasn't troubled by the idea of a new film edited from them. I should have been!

There are simply no laughs in this tedious in-joke. Things your stoner friends might find hilarious aren't going to be even mildly amusing to someone who isn't a member of your circle and isn't high.

Other films such as Arise! The SubGenius Video and Tribulation 99: Alien Anomalies Under America make more interesting use of video sampling. Other films also make better use of the technique of comic dubbing, such as Night of the Day of the Dawn of the Son of the Bride of the Return of the Terror (which really *wasn't* all that funny), or Woody's Allen's What's Up, Tiger Lily?, which the filmmakers of this reference on their commentary track.

Sounds hot!

Warning: Spoilers
This film is... different. The directors took a bunch of clips from several well-known silent films (Nosferatu, Dr. Caligari, The Golem, Phantom of the Opera, etc.) and re-edited them into a single narrative. It has a Monty Python-esquire vibe running throughout; the story is at times a little hard to follow, and there are numerous asides that tie into the overall story. There are LOTS of jokes and sight gags, almost too many to take in in a single viewing. This film isn't for kids, as there is a fair amount of questionable content (hooray for questionable content!). I laughed out loud many times, and Nosferatu's remake into a Christopher Walken sound-alike is definitely the high point of the film. This film won't be for everyone, but if you're into the "Kentucky Fried Movie" school of cinema, you should pick this one up.

This Movie is Outrageous
LincHolmes18 November 2004
This movie is really funny and I've never seen anything like it. A friend of mine let me borrow it a couple of weeks ago and I haven't given it back yet! There's lots of jokes and some of them are a little obvious but the movie is so fun to watch and there's so many of them I had to watch it a few times to catch them all. There's one scene that I can't believe is in the movie (you'll know which one) at all. There's a whole series of scenes using clips from Nosferatu that had us choking. Since I'm a film student at first I was upset when I heard that the people making this film were using clips from classic movies but after watching it my opinion changed 100%. I may even try it.

A blast!

Warning: Spoilers
I bought this after a friend forwarded me a copy of a newsletter from the company that made this movie. Let me say, it is weird AND I got many laughs. There are many things going on in it and I stopped the DVD a few times to read things or see pictures that are subliminal. I watched it twice, once with a group of friends, and the 2nd time was funnier than the first. Plus it seems better with a group of people commenting on it. Some of my friends said they didn't like it much but they laughed any way so it may have been some of the crude stuff that turned them off. I didn't understand some stuff that my friends did, and I got some of the jokes they didn't so maybe that's okay. The first time I saw it I didn't know what to expect so it took me about 10 minutes to understand what was going on... which was cool because when I watched it the 2nd time it made it funnier. I'd recommend this to film students and people who are looking for other ways of expressing themselves outside of the big Hollywood machine. I didn't understand the heartbreaking tale thing until the last segment. In looking through IMDb it appears another DVD from this company is coming soon and I'm looking forward to it.

This movie might make you mad
filmfiend-231 December 2004
I don't like some of this movie but it made me laugh a bunch. I don't like making fun of the president or Arnold Swarzenegger but it was funny. Some of it might make you mad but I thought maybe they were trying to... I liked the scenes with the vampire that sounds like Christopher Walken. The ending was really weird. I hope they make more movies like this one because its really different from the stuff in theaters. Most movies wouldn't allow stuff like this one does. After I watched it once I watched it again with my little brother and he laughed a lot. I saw things I didn't get the first time and it was cool. Some of my friends from school want to see it now. I want to work on movies when I graduate but not small ones like this.
