There are many wonderful books about the 1904 World's Fair. These include historic books as well as recently published books. Some of the contemporary books we used as resources for this documentary include Pam Vaccaro's "Beyond the Ice Cream Cone"; a lovely large coffee table book titled "From the Palaces to the Pike" by Fox and Sneddeker; and "Standing on a Volcano: The Life and Times of David Rowland Francis" by Harper Barnes - to name only a very few. The 1904 World's Fair Society was also hugely important in the research stage of the documentary - many members worked on our team as researchers and writers. For more information about the society visit www.1904worldsfairsociety.org and make sure you check out the "World's Fair Links" on the site.
In 2006 Civil Pictures released "The Gateway Arch: A Reflection of America" - a documentary about the St. Louis Gateway Arch. The documentary covers not only the construction of the largest stainless steel structure in history, but also details the history of the city of St. Louis and the important role it played in the westward expansion of the United States.
