Jimmy Adams In A Pretty Good Comedy
boblipton24 September 2020
Jimmie Adams and Molly Malone are trying to get off the steamship in Los Angeles, but between the villain who has been stealing watches and planting one in Jimmie's pocket, and mix-up with steerage passengers, this goes on for a pretty brisk two reels.

There are a goodly number of jokes sharply executed, ranging from those in poor taste -- like the garlic-sandwich eating that results in belches that knock out people (I just saw a 1905 French comedy that was the entirety of the movie) --to more standard fare.: some good, some bad, and if you don't like this one, another will be along in a couple of seconds.

Jimmie at Ellis Island
kekseksa18 April 2018
The copy of this I have seen lacks intertitles which makes it a shade difficult to unravel the subtleties of the plot in the unlikely case that there were any. The comedy occurs on shipboard where Jimmie is the object of attention for a pair of pickpockets who plan to use him to smuggle their ill-gotten off the ship. Arrested at customs, he manages to escape but gets caught again as he tries to rejoin his girl whose father is trying to remove her from his influence.

Interesting only really for the picture of immigrants (typical of the time and common to several films of the period) holed up in Ellis Island which was fast becoming something of a prison-camp. In this case the regard is unsympathetic (all garlic and violence).
