Put the hip into documentaries for California
wlb23 January 2009
This series was on PBS - at least the California stations - for a few years. I caught it in its last year and was surprised by the angles they came from to capture California. Quite honestly after 2-3 years I am trying to think of some subjects they hit - I remember on one episode they came to Sacramento to report on an example of marine agriculture - caviar - they would show me, a California native of 58 years - things I didn't know were in my own back yard. Another episode they went further up the state to detail the late movement of Jefferson, a movement to succeed not only from California but the US.

They traveled up and down California. It has been off the air about 2 years since I have written this but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to leave a comment (and apparently the first one).

Their theme song was catchy and and the series trademark was their brightly colored blue motor home.

They were not canceled because of poor ratings but rather budget cuts - a production person told me. I had to call their office and ask "WHERE ARE YOU??" when it was off for a few weeks.

One has to think if PBS went on a normal funding method like commercial TV - and getting advertisers - CC Connected would still be on the air.

Lisa McRee also had a companion blog which was nice to see - pictures she took "along the way" and stories of the production as seen behind the camera.

I miss that show...
