House father Urbain volunteers to do his wife Nicole's domestic work for a day, apparently naively, but in fact hoping to stop her nagging about being stuck at home, now she has a shot at a paid job. Or can it get too bad, even by those rules, for Urbain's family and manager Didier?

Urbain has forgotten his wife Nicole's birthday again, as the whole family expected, but she's livid and mean when he turns up with a lame last minute present. He promises to cook her a dinner but that has to wait. Having bumped into Mr. Poelkapelle's car, Urbain is forced to give a humiliating private performance for him and his pet monkey Ringo, later even a drinking gang, to avoid the police and the press ruining his career, and the terms keep worsening.

Having spotted his wife Nicole in a restaurant with her boss Wesley, Urbain turns desperately and aggressively jealous. Treats and an attempted make-over fail to impress her. So he ends up pressing manager Didier, who claims his mistresses adultery is the logical result of too little marital sex, like in Urbain's case, to help him spy and deliver a bomb, just now Wesley's firm is to sign a major contract.

Urbain is too lazy to get up early enough to drive son Maurice to soccer. So he gets babysitter Kiki to do it and pretends that was her idea, but wife Nicole sees trough his lies. Just then manager Didier has arranged for a TV crew to film Urbanus's 'model-harmonious showbiz family', but only Urbain is willing to cooperate to boost his career.

Urbain has 'blaphemed' against a giant Elvis imitator's idol, and now fears physical revenge, so he tries to lock his home up without explaining to the family and Didier, pretending it's against burglars. A security contractor smells a spicy bill, but Urbain does it himself- badly. The police gets involved but can't prevent Urbanus being captured.
