Very good short
crozzerwoggy5 August 2006
This is a very interesting short film from Ireland. The setting may be a little stagy, but this brings the script and acting to the fore. In bringing disparate characters together in one location, it's a little reminiscent of something like Reservoir Dogs. Plus there's a neat little plot turn. The Irish accents are quite thick at times. But really, the story could take place anywhere. The film, running about 15 minutes, has a beginning, a middle and an end. That's more than you can say for most short films. The writer-director Andrew Sneyd seems to have disappeared from the face of the earth after making this - what a pity. I imagine it's quite difficult to get hold of this little gem, but it's well worth discovering. You can read more about it at the film's web page

Great short!

Was lucky enough to catch this at the Galway Film Festival in '98 on a trip back to the old country.

I don't give many full length movies a 10 out of 10 score but remember this is a short feature, and for what it is it's "brilliant", as my Mom used to say. If it wasn't for her Dublin accent I probably wouldn't have understood a lot of the movie (some of the slang went over my head), but the story is solid, well-conceived, well-told, and well-presented. I would have guessed the writer was pleased with the director and editors' result, but when you realize they (writer director and editor) were all actually the same guy it makes a lot of sense.

If you can, check it out. But will this ever be released over here? Maybe not without subtitles! ;)
