So far, this season of The Flash has seen Sherloque Wells prove to be a most valuable ally in the ongoing war with Cicada. Not only has his impressive intellect helped the team at Star Labs in a variety of situations, but he’s also getting to the bottom of whatever’s been going on with Nora West-Allen and Eobard Thawne.
While the latest Harrison Wells’ doppelganger we’ve met has thus far lived up to being the best detective in the multiverse, there’s one area in which he hasn’t had much luck – and that’s love. In fact, the guy has confessed to having been married seven times, two of which were to the same woman.
Well, those who’ve wanted to meet those lucky (?) ladies will soon get their chance when Kimberly Williams-Paisley debuts as Renee Adler during next week’s episode, “Goldfaced.” What’s also...

“Ex” marks the spot for Kimberly Williams-Paisley, who will guest-star in the very next episode of The CW’s The Flash (airing Tuesday, Feb. 5 at 8/7c).
TVLine has learned that Williams-Paisley will play “multiple versions” of Irene Renee Adler, one of Earth-221 detective Sherloque Wells’ many ex-wives.
Interestingly (at least to me), this is far from the first time Williams-Paisley and The Flash‘s Tom Cavanagh have worked opposite each other. The two costarred in the 2006 film How to Eat Fried Worms (photo at right), and as of late Cavanagh has played Ada Miles Strasburg to Williams-Paisley’s legal eagle...

Sometimes you are born for a life of adventure and sometimes adventure recruits you into its cause. For George Lucas, the latter approach is preferable as witnessed in Luke Skywalker in Star Wars and Willow Ufgood in Willow. While Skywalker unknowingly had it in his blood, Willow was far more the ordinary person thrust into an extraordinary cause.
Lucas conceived of Willow’s tale back in 1972 and kept it rattling around his mind until technology was sophisticated enough to tackle it on film. Casting Warwick Davis as Wicket in Return of the Jedi probably began the move from backburner to the front of the production slate even though it was another five years before the film began production. By then, Lucas was no longer interested in directing, instead choosing Ron Howard to mount his first major fantasy. By then, Howard, who was a directing contemporary of Lucas although they traveled in different circles,...

I've really enjoyed Austin Film Festival's "Made in Texas" series, in which the fest screens Lone Star-shot films every month, often with the screenwriter or filmmaker in attendance. Now Aff is bringing the series back in 2011 and adding other great programming with help from the Texas Book Festival.
The 2011 Made in Texas series kicks off on Wednesday, Feb. 16 with Hook and one of its screenwriters, James V. Hart. After a 6 pm "Conversations in Film" seminar with Hart at the At&T Conference Center (on the Ut campus), you can cross the street to the Texas Spirit Theater and watch the movie at 7:30 pm. Tickets are available through Aff for the conversation and screening. After the jump, check out a list of the rest of the series offerings scheduled so far.

What can a pic-a-nic basket hold? A whole lot of fun for the entire family! The latest installment of the beloved brown bear that talks is coming to theaters in 3-D. This rendition has another twist though.it is live action with animation. There have been a couple animated movies/specials over the years since the animated series rolled out of the Hanna-Barbera production company back in 1961. Only running for 2 seasons, Yogi the Bear and his sidekick Boo Boo have remained iconic animated characters for almost 50 years. .
‘Yogi Bear. has the characters everyone has loved over the years and a couple new ones too. Yogi, voiced by Dan Akroyd (Ghostbusters, Antz) is no stranger to comedy. The majority of his career has been in and around comedy, if not live action then animation. His voice is unimpeachable as Yogi, which was originally uttered by Daws Butler Aka Voice Magician. Justin Timberlake (Yu-Gi-Oh!

I kid you not. From Yahoo! Movies comes this first teaser trailer for “everyone’s favorite pic-a-nic basket-stealing bear Yogi Bear, a live-action/CG animated adventure in 3D to be unleashed December 2010.” Is nothing sacred anymore?

Faced with his biggest challenge ever, Yogi must prove that he really is “smarter than the average bear,” as he and Boo Boo join forces with Ranger Smith to find a way to save the park from closing forever.

Good night nurse. I shake my head at the thought of this kind of schlock.

After a lackluster start to the summer, things got rolling again in June thanks to strong performances from Toy Story 3 and The Karate Kid. That momentum is likely to continue in to July with the launch of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, and the rest of July is filled out with a host of potentially crowd-pleasing fare like Inception, Salt, The Last Airbender and Dinner for Schmucks. It would take exceptional numbers, though, for July 2010 to exceed July 2008's record $1.27 billion total, but July 2009's $1.05 billion should be within reach. Eclipse opens June 30, but it's effectively a July release because its first weekend starts July 2. The third Twilight movie hits theaters just over seven months after The Twilight Saga: New Moon, which set the opening day record ($72.7 million) and ultimately collected $296.6 million. The history of closely-timed, serialized sequels like The Matrix Revolutions and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End...

Despite solid starts from Diary of a Wimpy Kid and The Bounty Hunter, Alice in Wonderland held on to the top spot for the third weekend in a row, down 45 percent to an estimated $34.5 million. Overall, weekend business was up 20 percent from the same timeframe last year, when Knowing opened to $24.6 million.
Alice in Wonderland's $34.5 million weekend represents the sixth highest-grossing third weekend ever, and its total now sits at $265.8 million in 17 days. On Saturday, Alice surpassed Batman to become director Tim Burton's highest grossing movie ever, though Batman and several others still rank higher in terms of estimated attendance. Alice also topped 300 last Monday to become the highest-grossing March release ever.
Despite a lack of distinctive marketing, Diary of a Wimpy Kid drew a decent crowd, opening to an estimated $21.8 million on approximately 3,400 screens at 3,077 sites. It was the biggest start ever for a non-animated, non-fantasy children's book adaptation.

While three movies make their nationwide debut this weekend, it is unlikely that any of them will end Alice in Wonderland's reign. Alice held relatively well last weekend, down 46 percent to $62.7 million, good for fifth among the all time highest-grossing second weekends. Its midweek numbers have been strong (this Wednesday was off only 30 percent from last Wednesday), indicating that its drop this weekend will be even lighter than last. This should put Alice in line for one of the biggest third weekend grosses on record.
Among the new movies, The Bounty Hunter is likely to pack the biggest punch, playing on approximately 3,800 screens at 3,074 sites. The romantic/action comedy brings together appealing leads Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butler, who have separately had solid runs recently in comparable titles like The Ugly Truth ($88.9 million), He's Just Not That Into You ($93.9 million) and The Break-Up ($118.7 million). If you watch a lot of television, particularly if you can't find your DVR remote, you're bound to see a lot of commercials, and in those commercials over a period of time, you're also likely to see some of the same actors rotate through different commercials for different products. (There was an interesting article on this phenomenon a few years ago on Slate, which I can't seem to find.) More often than not, you have no idea what that actor's name is, at least until you see him or her on a television show or up on the big screen, at which point you exclaim, "Hey! That's the guy from that commercial."
Today's Seriously Random List explores the always under-appreciated "guy from that commercial." It's not about famous actors who appeared in commercials before they were stars, or even current celebrities, like Sam Waterston, who are inextricably linked to a certain product.

Although its performance wasn't quite as powerful as the film's title, Buena Vista Pictures' Invincible did come out fighting, leading the pack during the weekend with an estimated $17 million gross at the North American boxoffice. The same cannot be said for the weekend's other new releases. Warner Bros. Pictures' R-rated Beerfest opened to an estimated $6.5 million, good for fourth place, and New Line Cinema's How to Eat Fried Worms proved hard for moviegoers to digest as it placed outside the top 10, in the No. 12 spot, with an estimated $4 million. Universal Pictures' musical Idlewild opened in the eighth spot with an estimated $5.9 million. The total was not as high as had been expected, but with the best per-theater average of the new arrivals ($6,055), it notched a respectable beginning for the OutKast-led musical that attracted a predominantly black audience.

As the summer winds down, potential moviegoers might choose to take in the last few rays of sunshine rather than cloister themselves inside a darkened theater. Hollywood is counteracting that urge by throwing a lot of films at audiences this weekend, hoping at least one movie sticks. Buena Vista Pictures will bow the sports drama Invincible, and Universal Pictures is opening the OutKast musical Idlewild. New Line Cinema is hoping to turn kids on to How to Eat Fried Worms, and Warner Bros. Pictures brings out the latest Broken Lizard comedy Beerfest. Invincible has the best chance of reaching the top spot in the boxoffice race. The film is an example of one of the things Buena Vista does best: releasing inspiring stories about sports heroes. From Miracle to Glory Road, the studio has had a long track record of delivering PG-rated films that connect with a wide swath of moviegoers, and Invincible should be no different.
