Summit Entertainment has finally released the first trailer for the action film, Escape Plan – formerly titled The Tomb – with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone united to star in their first full feature film together. Directed by Mikael Håfström (1408, Shanghai) and penned by Miles Chapman (Road House 2: Last Call), the trailer makes the film look like an old-school actioner, and the footage sounds it might live up to that concept. Check out two of the greatest muscle men screen legends in a new prison escape movie. Escape Plan also stars Jim Caviezel, Curtis ‘50 Cent’ Jackson, Vinnie Jones, Vincent D’Onofrio, and Amy...

Escape Plan starring Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger was previously titled The Tomb. Not sure why the title change, but I'm sure a focus group had something to do with it and as we all know, those groups tend to know what they're doing. Today the first trailer for Escape Plan has arrived ahead of what will probably be a Stallone and Schwarzenegger Comic Con appearance that will send fans through the roof. The film doesn't hit theaters until October 18, and I must say, I actually like the look of this. Written by Miles Chapman (Road House 2: Last Call) and Jason Keller (Machine Gun Preacher), the story focuses on Ray Breslin (Stallone) a man known for his talent to breaking out of prisons. It's a niche job I assume and he's just been hired to break out of a new high security prison, but the tables are turned when...

"But it's supposed to be dumb!" certain audiences cry, when defending whatever dim action movie is causing chatter, which this week is "White House Down." While we hoped it would qualify as dumb yet awesome, it's just plain awful, with a self-seriousness that extinguishes whatever fun it might be trying to have with the genre. And yeah, we'd reckon the same applies to this latest offering from Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger. The first trailer for "Escape Plan" (formerly known as "The Tomb") is here and it looks fairly insipid. The movie finds Stallone playing Ray Breslin, a security expert who designs inescapable high-tech prisons for a living, only to find himself locked up in one, fighting for his life. His only ally will be Arnie, a hardened inmate looking to get a taste of life on the outside once again. This cinematic wonder comes from Miles Chapman, director of "Road House 2: Last Call,...

After eight years of governating, are audiences ready for the return of Arnold Schwarzenegger as a regular big screen presence? With the actor closing in on 70, the window for action movie roles is quickly closing, but he's making the most of it. "The Expendables 2" opens this weekend, he's got "The Last Stand" arriving in theaters in January and he's getting ready to roll on the cop thriller "Breacher." And also on the way is "The Tomb," another flick with his buddy Slyvester Stallone, and the first official image has dropped. Co-starring Jim Caviezel, Amy Ryan, Vincent D’Onofrio, 50 Cent and Vinnie Jones, and directed by Miles Chapman ("Road House 2: Last Call"), the film follows Ray Breslin (Stallone), a security expert who designed an inescapable, high-tech prison only to be framed for a crime and locked up in it. Arnie will play the standard hardened inmate with a heart of gold,...

If you removed Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger from the equation, the cast lining up for "The Tomb" seems like something that would fit a straight-to-dvd potboiler, instead of a teamup between two aging action icons. Either way, "The Tomb" is gonna be...weird.
Variety reports that the random assortment of Amy Ryan (who surely deserves better than this, though working with Sly and Arnie must be too good to resist), Vincent D’Onofrio, 50 Cent and Vinnie Jones have come aboard the film. The recap, of the story penned by Miles Chapman ("Road House 2: Last Call"), follows Ray Breslin (Stallone), a security expert who designed an inescapable, high-tech prison only to be framed for a crime and locked up in it. Well, the rumors are true. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone are going to tag team on another movie, and no, it won't have the word 'Expendables' in it. With the market at the Berlin Film Festival about to kick into full swing, Summit and Emmett/Furla Films will be tempting buyers with "The Tomb," and they've confirmed the rumors that surfaced a couple of weeks ago that Arnie and Sly will star. But that's not all. After bouncing around a couple of directors including "I Saw The Devil" helmer Kim Ji-woon and Antoine Fuqua, the relatively anonymous Mikael Håfström ("1408," "The Rite," the eternally shelved "Shanghai") will now get behind the camera. Penned by Miles Chapman (”Road House 2”) with a rewrite by Jason Keller (”Machine Gun Preacher”), the story follows Ray Breslin (Stallone), a security expert who designed an inescapable, high-tech prison...

Whether or not you dug his work as a director on Rambo or The Expendables, you have to admit that it has been great to see Sylvester Stallone restore a little bit of '80s machismo to the big screen over the past few years. Now that Arnold Schwarzenegger is back in the game as well, they both seem intent on reliving their glory days for as long as they are physically capable. They will be appearing in The Expendables 2 together later this year, obviously, and individually Schwarzenegger is also starring in Kim Ji-Woon's The Last Stand while Stallone is starring in Walter Hill's Bullet to the Head (formerly known as Headshot). That's not all, however. If this next rumour is to be believed, it looks like the two action movie icons could be teaming up for another project together: a prison break thriller called The Tomb. We...

It took decades for the two biggest action stars of the 80′s to star in a motion picture together but now they’ve done it once they can’t keep away from each other.
Ain’t It Cool News reports that Summit Entertainment’s in development project The Tomb, once set as an Arnold Schwarzenegger thriller for his big screen comeback before last fall he left to make Last Stand and then Sylvester Stallone attached himself to lead as his replacement, could now ultimately star both actors.
The Tomb tells the story of Ray Breslin, a master prison designer who is framed for a crime he didn’t commit. He is imprisoned and must escape the complex and unbreakable structure he helped create to seek vengeance on who locked him up.
Action helmer Antoine Fuqua (Training Day) was to direct the film at one point but currently no director is attached.

Originally positioned as a star vehicle for Bruce Willis before Arnold Schwarzenegger took a look at it this spring as one of his possible comeback movies, Summit has now landed another aging action star to take on the lead role in "The Tomb." Sylvester Stallone will now take on the picture, and though Antoine Fuqua was previously attached to direct, he's currently busy with "Hunter Killer" (and a handful of other projects including the Eminem boxing movie "Southpaw") so a new helmer will have to found, but the script is staying intact. Penned by Miles Chapman (”Road House 2”) with…...

Summit Entertainment is in early talks with Bruce Willis to star in the prison escape drama "The Tomb," with director Antoine Fuqua (Training Day) in talks to helm. If signed, Willis will play Ray Breslin, the world's foremost authority on structural security. After analyzing every high security prison and learning a vast array of survival skills so he can design escape-proof prisons, his skills are put to the test. He's framed and incarcerated in a master prison he designed himself. He needs to escape and find the person who put him behind bars. The script was written by Miles Chapman (Road House 2: Last Call) and rewritten by Jason Keller (Machine Gun Preacher). The hope is to fast track the film.

It's a long standing tradition in Hollywood of course to play it safe rather than risk making something completely original. Sequels? Remakes? Movies based on old TV shows or even toys? Yeah, you know what I'm talking about. Many is the time we've all rolled our eyes at the notion of a favorite film being needlessly sequelized but the very bottom of the sequel barrel is the straight-to-dvd kind.

So after the bare knuckles film Never Back Down, Screen Daily reports that the company has optioned The Tomb - another action genre project (with a lead character that uses his wits a la Macgyver) originally written by Miles Chapman (direct to video: Road House 2) with a rewrite coming from Jason Keller. The Tomb features a character called Ray Breslin who is the world’s foremost authority on structural security and whose ingenuity and knowledge are put to work when he has to escape from the master prison of his own design and find the person who put him there.
