A former bodyguard of music mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has claimed that Combs possessed incriminating tapes of politicians, princes and other notable individuals who attended his parties.
Combs, who has faced a barrage of accusations from physical abuse to rape and sexual trafficking, recently had his residences in Miami and Los Angeles raided by the Department of Homeland Security. Federal agents seized computers and electronic devices during the operation.
In an interview with The Art of Dialogue YouTube channel, Gene Deal, who was present the night Notorious B.I.G. was shot in 1997, she revealed the extent of Combs’ alleged activities.
Deal stated, “I don’t think it’s only celebrities gonna be shook. He had politicians in there; he had princes in there. He also had a couple of preachers in there.”
Deal added, “Can you imagine he had every room bugged.”

Bob Dylan has spent the past few weeks spotlighting local artists and city-specific songs while cross-crossing America on his Rough and Rowdy Ways tour. It began October 1 in Kansas City when he opened up with “Kansas City,” continued in St. Louis where he covered two Chuck Berry songs, and carried on in Chicago where he broke out Chicago blues tunes by Muddy Waters and Howlin’ Wolf.
Perhaps the biggest curveball came October 16 in Indianapolis, Indiana when he played John Mellencamp’s “Longest Days.” It’s a relatively obscure song from Mellencamp’s 2008 LP Life,...

Dig through the 120-plus Emmy categories and you’ll discover more than double-digit nominations for Succession and Ted Lasso. You’ll also uncover the indisputable influence of hip-hop.
The ever-growing television medium is keeping the legacies of two of the most important figures in rap — and overall pop culture — alive, and now the projects are competing for Emmys. Dear Mama, the FX documentary series about Tupac Shakur and his activist mother, Afeni, earned nominations for outstanding documentary or nonfiction series and writing for a nonfiction program, while a virtual reality concert that brought Notorious B.I.G. back to life is up for outstanding emerging media program.
To top it off, rap’s ultimate entrepreneur, Jay-Z, is nominated for two Emmys, including a historic one for outstanding directing for a variety series for Rihanna’s Super Bowl halftime show. And this is all happening during the year that is the 50th anniversary of hip-hop.

MTV has announced that Sean “Diddy” Combs will receive the honorary Global Icon Award. As described in the announcement, “the Global Icon Award, originally from MTV’s Europe Music Awards (EMAs), celebrates an artist or band whose unparalleled career and continued influence have achieved a unique level of global success in music and beyond.” He will accept the award and perform live during the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards set to air Tuesday night, September 12, at 8:00pm from New Jersey’s Prudential Center. This will be his first performance at the event since 2005.
Diddy’s career stretches back more than a quarter century. The first of his two past VMA victories came in 1997 when he claimed Best R&b Video for “I’ll Be Missing You” featuring Faith Evans and 112. That song and video were made as a tribute to The Notorious B.I.G., who was murdered earlier that year and...

The heist movie is a timeless popular classic. It always seems like the perfect, victimless crime. When we watch this type of movie, we are usually on the side of the gang of robbers and find ourselves rooting for them to get away with their audacious crime.
The films telling the story of Danny Ocean have been some of the most popular of the modern era. Ocean’s Eleven was released in the US on December 7th, 2001. It became the fifth-highest-grossing film of the year, with global box office receipts of $450.7 million. With an all-star cast including George Clooney, Julia Roberts, Matt Damon, and Brad Pitt, it was a remake of a movie from 1960 by the same name.

Duran Duran launched their 2023 “Future Past North American Tour” at Napa Valley’s BottleRock Festival on Saturday, May 27th.
To kick off their headlining set, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame group quickly dispatched several of their biggest hits, including “Hungry Like the Wolf,” “Notorious,” and “A View to a Kill.” In a career-spanning sequence befitting the ethos behind their 2021 LP, Future Past, the band reached as far back as their 1981 debut single “Planet Earth,” while touching on key eras with tracks like 1984’s “The Reflex,” 1993’s “Ordinary World,” and their latest LP’s “Anniversary.”
The night also included the first live rendition of the Future Past duet “Give It All Up” with Tove Lo, who performed with the band and separately earlier in the day. Following 1981’s “Girls on Film” as the main set’s closer, the band returned with a double Rio encore of “Save a Prayer” and the iconic title track.

Watch the trailer for Season 2 of “The Bear”:
Beginning on June 14, the new series continuation of the beloved film “The Full Monty” arrives on Hulu. It’s 25 years later and the men and women of Sheffield, England, are in reboot mode, navigating life and family. Big George Foreman is a film directed by George Tillman Jr. starring Khris Davis.
Some movies simply wait for a great story to do all the work.
Foreman’s life was quite a story.
We can’t say the same for the film.
Movie Review
Some said the voiceover was anti-cinematic, and it was Scorsese (among others) who denied it film after film. This Big George Foreman wants to have a lot of Scorsese without achieving his pace, effectiveness and, above all, grace, and narrative freshness.
Big George Foreman is a film that resorts, at all times, to the obvious, to direct compassion, to that piece of American History a thousand times told in a thousand better ways and with more elaborate plots and less flat characters and, in the end, with more to say.
It is well executed technically, it knows how to behave, but the script’s compassionate...

Biopics about star athletes or artists tend to have the same broad shape: the rise to achievement and fame, the fall from triumph (often fueled by some combination of addiction and ego), the restoration to a harder-won glory. A great biopic, like “Get on Up” or “I, Tonya,” will tease a profound portrait of the subject out of that form; a middling one will oversimplify the subject just to hit the right beats. But then there’s a film like “Big George Foreman: The Miraculous Story of the Once and Future Heavyweight Champion of the World.” That’s not a movie title — it’s the title of a parable. And it’s well chosen, since “Big George Foreman” is about a life that feels so outlandishly ready-made for the ups and downs, the lessons and inspirations, of the superstar biopic genre that you don’t even have to mess with it.

As “Dear Mama” director Allen Hughes set out to celebrate the legacy of hip hop legend Tupac Shakur in FX’s new docuseries, Hughes resolved to “demystify” Tupac’s fatal shooting that has become a legend of its own for many.
“The number one thing I said was, ‘we can’t have made this movie, and these young people walk away and think that this is sexy, dying like this’,” Hughes told TheWrap. “It’s ugly, it’s brutal, not just what happened to him, but how it affects his family and friends and loved ones.”
Tupac’s death on Sept 13, 1996 from wounds sustained in a drive-by shooting 6 days earlier, has been the subject of conspiracy theories, including alleged connections to the murder of the Notorious B.I.G. 6 months later.

Anthony Perkins' Norman Bates is one of the most famous villains in horror cinema — or is he? After all, technically it was his mother Norma who murdered Marion Crane (Janet Leigh), Arbogast (Martin Balsam), and other offscreen victims. Or rather, it was the version of his mother who lived in Norman's head. Norman may have murdered his mother years ago, but her grip on him endured post-mortem.
How fitting that a character with multiple personalities was voiced by more than one person. "Psycho" conceals this twist by featuring "mother" only as a voice. We only hear her speak to Norman and the conversations always happen offscreen. For these moments, Hitchcock took three voices, those belonging to Paul Jasmin, Virginia Gregg, and Jeanette Nolan, and mixed them together into the voice of "Mother."
All three actors were uncredited, with their names nowhere to be seen in Paul Bass's legendary title sequence.

The ubiquitous Marvel Cinematic Universe has reached a critical mass where it is almost unavoidable. Like a supermassive black hole, it's going to keep absorbing every actor of repute until everybody has a part to play in the world of the Avengers. Because of this, nearly every actor worth their salt has been in a Marvel movie at some point or another by now. It's almost a rite of passage in stardom. While most people have generally positive experiences, there certainly have been those, like Christian Bale, who has spoken out about their lack of enjoyment in working for the Marvel content machine.

The role of James Bond has been officially and canonically played to date by just six actors: Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, and Daniel Craig (David Niven and Barry Nelson don’t count as part of the canon). It’s traditionally been one of the most sought-after parts in all of cinema history, so it makes sense that while only those half-dozen stars have filled 007’s shoes over the 60-year course of the franchise, dozens more have tried out for the part and didn’t make the cut.
Although original producers Albert R. Broccoli and Harry Saltzman of Eon Productions (still run to this day by Broccoli’s descendants) always insisted that the character of Bond be English, the role has only been played by three Englishmen to date: Moore, Dalton, and Craig. Cary Grant was James Bond before James Bond. Sixty years since the release of Dr. No and Sean Connery’s era-defining performance as 007, it sounds crazy that Grant almost beat him to the role, but as late as 1962 it made perfect sense—including to the men who produced the James Bond movies. As the Hollywood leading man who perfected the Hollywood ideal of debonair sophistication and unflappable suaveness, Grant was a class act that couldn’t be beaten, and for the better part of 30 years all of Hollywood agreed.
This included one of the two godfathers of the James Bond franchise and Eon Productions, Albert “Cubby” Broccoli. Along with his partner Harry Saltzman, Broccoli saw the long-term viability of the James Bond character as a genre unto himself. Broccoli also wasn’t a delusional producer who just wanted to cast one of the biggest stars of his heyday as 007—he...

Paris was glittery from head to toe, including her headphones and fingerless gloves.
She played Notorious B.I.G. in the background as she exclaimed how hot she was.

Just in time for end-of-summer festivities, Igloo has launched a new cooler inspired by The Notorious B.I.G. — this time with a built-in Bluetooth speaker system.
Called The Notorious B.I.G. KoolTunes Playmate, the cooler-slash-stereo boasts original artwork of Biggie with the text “it was all a dream” on the top of the lid and “it’s the Brooklyn way” on the sides. On the front of the cooler are two discreet, five-watt speakers with passive radiators that lend tunes for the tailgate, picnic, beach day, or pool party.

People often talk about second album syndrome, and the pressures that follow a great first record. Often it can overshadow conversation around the debut itself: “Brilliant album… shame about the second one.”
But while it’s true that many an artist has struggled to meet expectations after a triumphant beginning, it shouldn’t take away from the achievements made on those first records. They serve as statements of intent and have the power to change or reshape the industry, inspire fellow musicians, and drive essential conversation about our understanding of music.
Whether it’s the rock on The Strokes’ much-hyped 2001 album Is This It or the rap prowess of Notorious Big on Ready to Die, introducing a genre to the rest of the world via Daft Punk’s Homework or creating a new one entirely with Black Sabbath – debut albums can take a previously unknown artist and lift them up to global adulation.

Queen + Adam Lambert, Duran Duran, Rod Stewart, Diana Ross and more all took the stage outside London’s Buckingham Palace concert as part of the Platinum Jubilee concert Saturday celebrating the 70th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign.
Following a prerecorded video featuring the Queen lunching with Paddington the Bear, the first artist to take the stage was, fittingly, Queen + Adam Lambert, who were joined by a royal marching band for “We Will Rock You.” The band’s set also featured “Don’t Stop Me Now” and “We Are the Champions...

Downtown Los Angeles is a very different place than it was when the Los Angeles Conservancy kicked off its “Last Remaining Seats” film screenings in movie palaces 35 years ago. When the annual series hits key theaters this month (after taking the last couple of Junes off for the pandemic), there will be far less trepidation in the air about the fate of some of the key theaters and the neighborhoods they’re in than there was back in 1987. One thing that’s very different, now versus then: the number of filmgoers who’ll be walking to the Orpheum and the Los Angeles, the two theaters that will host five of the six screenings.
Meanwhile, perhaps ironically, the Lrs series kicks off Saturday with a field trip to a neighborhood that was seen as deeply thriving 35 years ago, but could use its own boost now: Westwood, where the venerable 1931 Village Theater...

“The Masked Singer” season 6 is getting down to the final few episodes. One of our favorites from the start has been the Skunk, who stole the show on the premiere. Since then she has sailed through the competition and faces off against the other remaining contestant in Group A (Bull) in the final on December 1. We’ve been scouring the clues dropped to date and have all “The Masked Singer” spoilers, including the answer to the question, “Who is Skunk”?
The Skunk was certainly no stinker as she led off the line-up performing for the four judges. This is one divine diva, clad in a sleek black velvet dress that is set off by pure white fur. Indeed, the official Twitter account for the show summed up the Skunk in one word, “Glamour.” Note that it was spelled out in all capital letters.

Blend one well-known name with scandal; add an appealing subject. Bake in theatrical visibility and fold in home-friendly pricing. Best served with stale alternatives. With this well-tested recipe for VOD success, the long-delayed “City of Lies” stands out this week.
The troubled 2018 film stars Johnny Depp and Forest Whitaker as Los Angeles detectives investigating the murders of Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur. Open Road filed for bankruptcy shortly after it acquired the film. Legal and pandemic issues followed, and then Saban stepped in. A March 19 theater release roused $565,000; two weeks later, it debuted on VOD. It’s a trajectory similar to the one recently enjoyed by the disgraced Armie Hammer, who stars opposite Gary Oldman in another VOD hit, “Crisis.”
Priced at $6.99, “City of Lies” took first place at AppleTV, #4 at GooglePlay (both ranking by number of rentals) and an impressive fourth place at FandangoNow (which lists by revenue earned...

Perhaps it’s only appropriate that a film detailing one of Los Angeles’ most infamous unsolved murder cases would have a long journey to the screen, but Brad Furman’s “City of Lies” had a bumpier road than most. Detailing LAPD detective Russell Poole’s investigation into the 1997 murder of Christopher Wallace – a.k.a. rapper the Notorious B.I.G. – Furman’s film was initially slated for theatrical release back in 2018, only for a lawsuit and financial trouble from the film’s initial distributor to leave it languishing for years.

Is this what hope looks like? With only one new release in theaters (“The Courier” starring Benedict Cumberbatch), the weekend estimates registered at $15.7 million, compared to last weekend’s $15.5 million. That fractional increase doesn’t reflect the increased number of available theaters; with most of California open, about 93 percent of theaters are in play. It’s not enough to assure nervous studio executives pondering their release calendars.
There are still some significant holdouts. Among those that have yet to return are the #2 exhibitor Regal, Southern California-based Arclight/Pacific Theaters, and other significant theaters particularly in New York and Los Angeles.

, let alone when that true crime book is about two of the most notorious unsolved murders in human history, and the movie adapted from it was directed by Brad Furman (a solid base-hitter who’s still swinging for another “The Lincoln Lawyer”) and stars Johnny Depp as a retired LAPD detective who says things like “I’m obsessed with the truth, that’s my sickness.” Even if “City of Lies” hadn’t sat on the shelf for the last 30 months — its planned release in September 2018 was allegedly postponed because of a lawsuit that the film’s location manager filed against Depp — it wouldn’t exactly be a huge surprise that this under-baked and overstretched police thriller was a total waste of the roadkill-like hairpiece that Shea Whigham wears in it.

In the fall of 1939, director Alfred Hitchcock stood before Columbia University to tell a story we can only hope he invented. With a ruthless, dry delivery, Hitch spoke of two Scotsmen on a train. One of these fellows carried with him a mysterious package he says is a “MacGuffin.” When the other man asks what exactly is a MacGuffin, the carrier responds, “It’s an apparatus for trapping lions in the Scottish Highlands.” What an odd response, the other guy thinks. After all, there is no such thing as highland lions! When he points this out though, the MacGuffin’s owner says, “Well then, that’s no MacGuffin!”
It’s an amusing anecdote which is as circuitous as it appears pointless. But that very pointlessness was always the appeal for Hitch, who four years earlier popularized the storytelling term of a “MacGuffin” with his film The 39 Steps. In that movie,...

While watching Netflix's Notorious B.I.G. documentary, Biggie: I Got a Story to Tell, you might be curious about the late rapper's best friend, Roland "Olie" Young, who championed Smalls up until Young's murder in 1992. The rapper's closest childhood friend, supporter, and running pal, Young was known to support Smalls's career even at the very beginning. Tragically, Young was murdered by his own uncle and gang boss Carl Bazemore, aka I-God, just months before his best friend became famous, and was never able to see their dreams come into fruition. Smalls then showed through interviews and lyrics that he would never forget his friend.
According to Distractify, Young was one of Biggie's closest friends, working with the rapper as crack dealers in New York City. As they earned more than $2,000 a week on Fulton Street, the two continued to be close. In fact, it was Young who urged Biggie to pursue a career in music,...
