... But EVER AFTER reminded me of ALFIE
!!!! SPOILERS !!!!
Set in the early 1960s and featuring a lovable rogue who is too good looking by half , makes the most of his good looks and directly addresses the audience you can see why I thought this . Guy seduces June a hyperactive redhead followed by Antonia a punctual home maker but having two girls on the go isn't enough for Guy so he then seduces Gaia followed by Verma and it's this that leads to his downfall
Actually the more I think about EVER AFTER the less it seems like ALFIE because at least the eponymous character of the Michael Caine movie did receive some form of redemption and you can always relate to someone who's a bit of a lad , with Guy however he is shown as an arrogant bully and does something with a shoe that loses any sympathy the audience had with him
All in all EVER AFTER is an entertaining enough short with some flaws - perhaps Guy could have been developed slightly more and despite having smooth good looks Tom Swire comes across as slightly stagy - And some good points with Deri Roberts jazz funk score being very pleasing to the ear
