Sex & Nudity

  • Many of the sex scenes were censored for the original US console releases after the game received an AO rating by the ESRB, but were reinstated when the remastered version was given an M rating.
  • Strong sex, nudity.
  • There are a couple of strong sex scenes, plus references.
  • There is a playable sex scene where you press the analouge stick up to thrust. Breasts and buttocks are seen
  • As a male you can take a shower nothing is seen
  • As a female you take a shower and breasts, buttocks and vagina can be seen.
  • You walk in on a man and woman having sex everything can be seen.
  • Another sex scene with breasts and buttocks.
  • There are three sex scenes:
  • The First one is optional, if you do 'use' it, nothing is seen apart from a bed shaking. The Second one is also optional, but if you do go for it, it is the most graphic. It is playable as well.
  • The Third one is not optional, and is moderately graphic.

Violence & Gore

  • Strong violent images.
  • Not much is actually seen in terms of violence (I think the violence is done as a tribute to Hitchcock's "Psycho"), but there is quite a bit of gore.
  • Apart from the stabbing scenes, most of the violence is physical, or very fantasy-based, the makers of the game used a lot of motion-capture to make these scenes using actors.

Profanity

  • Mild language.
  • Despite the M/AO rating, nothing stronger than "Shit" is heard in-game. At most, the language is infrequent.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Scenes involving alcohol.
  • In a main character appartment, you can drink a bottle of gin, and get drunk. A woman also casually drinks wine with a friend whilst having a meal (but this isn't anything to worry about). There are also a few references to drugs (all pretty mild).

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • If this were a movie, the Director's Cut version would've easily been rated NC-17 for multiple explicit sex scenes, graphic nudity, brutal violence and grisly images throughout, and some alcohol use. The censored version would've been rated R for graphic violence and grisly images throughout, some alcohol use and aberrant sexual content.
  • Strong horror, moderate sustained threat.
  • MANY frightening and Intense Scenes throughout.
  • A man's flat collapses from under his feet and he tries to survive.
  • A main character suffers from frequent frightening promonitions.
  • A main character is getting chased by Giant insects.
  • A main character is confronted by the man he killed (the man is covered in blood and looks "zombie-ish".)
  • The main character is haunted by killing a man, he keeps seeing him and being reminded of him all through the game.
  • (There are many more frightening senes throughout, definitely NOT a kids game)
  • You can commit suicide which can cause upset.
  • There are scenes of self harming.
  • Some depressing scenes.
