There's some good things happening back home in Indiana. From director Devi Snively comes an Indy film to take notice of. It's hard to believe that so much entertainment can be packed into such a short production.
The movie is technically about an experimental chemical weapon that turns it's victims into zombies but most of the focus is on nurse Mona as played by Holly Cole. Poor Mona only wants to tend the wounded soldiers, but they seem more interested in her than in their own wounds. Even as a rotting zombie she is pursued by both the quick and the dead. Will she ever find someone to love her for her mind? The scene where she finally does find true love is both humorous and surprisingly touching at the same time.
Not that it's all touchy-feely romance. There's some great gore with arms being pulled off heads being smashed and eyes gouged out. The fight scenes are as goofy as they are exciting which makes them a blast to watch.
If I have one complaint about the movie it's this. Todd Sheneman was badly cast as Peeping Todd. He was so good looking and seemed so charming that I thought Mona would be naturally attracted to him instead of treating him so rudely.
That one note aside, I'd have to say that Confederate Zombie Massacre is a real winner!
