Former Netflix UK Director of Scripted Chris Sussman has signed a deal with Banijay UK.
Under terms of the exclusive first-look agreement, he’ll develop original scripted projects, working with Banijay labels to produce them.
This is part of Banijay’s £50M ($59M) UK Growth Fund initiative, which is aimed at partnering the group with high-profile talent, investing in new business and striking other sorts of talent deals.
Sussman fits that bill. His credits include work on Fleabag, This Country, Catastrophe, Charlie Brooker’s Wipe, Good Omens, Mum, People Just Do Nothing and Bad Education. We revealed back in June last year that he was exiting his post at Netflix, where he had worked on shows such as Man Vs Bee and Harlan Coben drama Stay Close, and we later reported he was in talks to exec the fourth season of Apple TV+’s Trying.

This day has been an emotional rollercoaster.
The facts and details of the Christmas episode have been kept strictly secret, and for good reason. Rumors flew that Jenna Coleman was leaving the series just as the new season was a-borning, and her go-to answer for the events of the special was “If you know if I’m staying with the series, it’ll ruin the ending”. A spectacularly surprising cameo, a hilarious guest star, and a plot that keeps unfolding like a fried onion makes for a ripping yarn for the holiday. But for most of the year, we were never sure or not if this was to be Clara’s…

This story first appeared in the Aug. 1 issue of The Hollywood Reporter magazine. Steven Spielberg typically works only with the most in-demand writers— from Tony Kushner to David Koepp. But don't tell British playwright Matt Charman, 35, whose first screenplay is the director's next film. Charman, whose credits include two scripts for the Brit TV series Man Stroke Woman, impressed with an untitled Cold War pitch that follows the true story of lawyer James Donovan, recruited by the CIA to help rescue an American pilot detained in the Soviet Union. The Tom Hanks-led film now is casting for

The dance culture has seen an explosion of cinematic adaptations in recent years. There was Step Up in 2006 - the dan-com that launched the career of one Channing Tatum; MTV-funded urban success Save the Last Dance in 2001; and everyones favourite rags-to-Rojo story Billy Elliot in 2000. Going further back, classics such as Footloose (starring Kevin Bacon. Yes, believe it or not he used to appear in films), Dirty Dancing and Saturday Night Fever slide into shot, while one could even argue the suitability of Gene Kelly’s infamous musical number Singin' in the Rain...although for the purpose of this review, we’ll stick with dance as the main focus as opposed to an entertaining side-plot.

Andy Samberg's first acting job since leaving "Saturday Night Live" will take him across the pond. He's set to star in a BBC sitcom called "Cuckoo."
The show, which begins filming in the summer, also stars Greg Davies ("The Inbetweeners") and Helen Baxendale ("Friends," "Cold Feet") as the parents of a young woman (Tamla Kari) who comes home from a year abroad with a new husband: Cuckoo (Samberg), a slacker goofball and self-described "spiritual ninja" who will now be living under their roof.
Culture-clashing comedy will presumably ensue.
"The best of British meets the toast of Hollywood. We hope 'Cuckoo' cements the special relationship between our two great countries," executive producer Ash Atalla says in a statement. "I imagine Obama and [British Prime Minister David] Cameron will be watching closely."
Robin French and Kieron Quirke ("Man Stroke Woman," "Trinity") created the show. It's scheduled for six episodes to air later this year on BBC Three.

Lisa Nolan Game of Thrones Season 2 quits over nudity. Lisa Nolan of Game of Thrones: Season 2 nudity quit surprised many, including probably show writers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. “Model turned actress Lisa Nolan has abruptly quit her role as a King’s mistress after being asked to bare all for a sex scene in HBO’s dark fantasy Emmy nominated series, returning in early 2012.” Game of Thrones: Season 1 was chalk full of nudity in varying degrees, especially with the women of the HBO show. Emilia Clarke (pictured here: Game of Thrones: Season 1, Episode 2: The Kingsroad Photos), Esmé Bianco (pictured here: Game of Thrones: Winter is Coming: High Resolution Photos), Kate Dickie, and Emily Diamond (pictured here: TV Review/Photos: Game of Thrones: Season 1, Episode 5: The Wolf and the Lion) can all attest to that.
