- George Mason: [after police officers bring John into George's office, while removing his handcuffs] sorry John, hey, I told you I needed to see you right?
- John Mason: [after seeing the damage left from the explosion] what happened here?
- George Mason: I could never get you to watch the news, could I?
- John Mason: [sarcastically] If you're looking to bond here dad, having your son arrested isn't the best way to do that.
- George Mason: I don't have much time, things are happening here and I can't go into in it "fully".
- John Mason: you couldn't go "fully" into much of anything.
- George Mason: it's my line of work
- John Mason: it's just something you should look into if you decided to start a second family
- George Mason: it's not going to happen: look, I understand if your angry.
- John Mason: I'm not angry, dad, I don't care. I really just don't understand what you're trying to do here.
- George Mason: [hands him his bank book] I have this bank account. No one knows about it, it's got a couple hundred thousand dollars I want you to have it. I already contacted my book keeper and he'll transfer these funds into your bank account.
- John Mason: let get this right: you bring me in here to tell me you're giving me money? What do you do you expect me to do? Give you a hug? I don't want your money
- George Mason: well then give it to your mom, I'm sure she does. The thing is I'm not going to be needing it
- John Mason: why is that? Listen, you don't bring me in here, offer me a small fortune and not tell me what's going on?
- George Mason: [regrettably and sadly] I'm dying John.
- John Mason: [starts becoming teary-eyed] is it cancer?
- George Mason: something like that, look, something "bad" is going to happen in Los Angeles today and I need you to leave town.
- John Mason: leave now?
- George Mason: just go to Phoenix, go to your mothers for a while, it's dangerous to be here. I can't explain it you. You just have to go ok?
- John Mason: dad listen...
- George Mason: [gently grabs him and hugs him] you're a good kid, I hope I didn't mess you up too bad
- Sherry Palmer: [after he enters the room] well, if it isn't the Chief of Staff himself
- Mike Novick: You look beautiful: as always. What're you doing here? Did David ask you to come here?
- Sherry Palmer: No, I just showed up on my own
- Mike Novick: So, how you've been?
- Sherry Palmer: Fine, just fine. Well you know it's been a challenging year. What is it? They say "Learn from our mistakes, and learn from our misfortunes?"
- Mike Novick: Have you told that to David?
- Sherry Palmer: No I don't think his ready to hear that yet. Not now, but he is waiting for you so why don't you just go in?
- Lynne Kresge: Sir, we have to talk about Ron Wieland
- President David Palmer: What about him? Does anybody know we have sequestered?
- Lynne Kresge: Well, no but Jenny just got a call from Wieland's production crew: they haven't seen him for the last four hours and pretty soon they'll figure out the last person they saw him with was you
- President David Palmer: [after entering the room] then leak a story
- Mike Novick: [while shaking hands] good to see you
- President David Palmer: I got here as soon as I could, I spoke to Armus, he brought me up to speed on the Wieland situation. I did some research I found out there is a precedent for the Executive branch taking action against the press in times of national crisis
- Lynne Kresge: So, when you say "leak a story", what kind of story?
- Mike Novick: Make it appear as though Wieland went to Portland for the rest of the day on a "personal matter." Armus can arrange that. it's a band aid but it'll get us through the day
- President David Palmer: [to Lynn] talk to Armus, put it in motion
- Lynne Kresge: [Before leaving the room] yes Sir
- Mike Novick: I saw Sherry on my way in, should I attach any significance to that?
- President David Palmer: It was her decision to come here
- President David Palmer: That's what she said but I'm surprised you're "allowing" her to stay
- President David Palmer: For the time being. Let's go to the OC, I'll bring you up to speed, there's a lot to cover
- Mike Novick: Just because Sherry tells you there's a conspiracy in the government array against you doesn't make it true
- President David Palmer: But if it is true, it'll affect every aspect in our response to this bomb. Sherry was right about the military evacuation out of Los Angeles
- Mike Novick: That's specific information: she still has well-rounded sources. A conspiracy? Don't forget where she's coming from. She may have her own agenda Mr. President
- President David Palmer: I'm well aware of that. She's on a tight leash, I want to find her source
- Mike Novick: Let me look into this so called "cabal" against you. If there's any substance to it, I'll uncover it. Right now the country needs your attention on the situation in LA
- President David Palmer: Start with Stanton
- Mike Novick: Stanton? The head of NSA? Conspiring against the President of the United States? Aside from the enormous implication if that were true, hasn't he always been an ally to you?
- President David Palmer: Yes. His also Eric Rayburn's boss. It's not inconceivable that his doing Rayburn's bidding. Those two have always been on the same page
- Mike Novick: It's not enough to indict him
- President David Palmer: I know. That's why I want you to check him out. I hope you can prove me wrong
- Mike Novick: [Before shaking hands] I heard you were here
- Mike Novick: I understand the President handed Eric Rayburn his walking papers
- Roger Stanton: Well, Eric messed up. The President was right to dismiss him
- Mike Novick: Still, he fired someone you appointed. It takes character to support that
- Roger Stanton: I got a nasty workload today, if you'll excuse me
- Mike Novick: Actually the President wants me to insert myself into your day
- Roger Stanton: It might be difficult, I'm moving a mile a minute here
- Mike Novick: I understand. I'd like to have a look on any paper you have on the most active leads. Let me "catch up."
- Roger Stanton: Alright, I can use a little help in the civil response area
- Mike Novick: Great, I'll be working up here on four: get me what you can
- President David Palmer: Update me
- Lynne Kresge: CTU Los Angeles is yielding the most promising leads: they raided a warehouse this morning within city limits and they found weapons grade nuclear material. Langley is using satellite playback as we speak to determine who was there
- President David Palmer: Suspect was killed?
- Lynne Kresge: There was a shootout, Division is having a hard time ID'ing the body
- President David Palmer: What's this?
- Lynne Kresge: Apparently Jack Bauer is still in the investigation
- President David Palmer: I thought he was dismissed after he completed this morning's assignment?
- Lynne Kresge: No, his heading the team that's tracking Mamud Faheen and Nina Meyers, the woman you granted immunity to this morning, she's helping them
- President David Palmer: [Surprised] Jack Bauer and Nina Meyers are working together?
- Lynne Kresge: Yes Sir, I believe he volunteered
- George Mason: How's it looking?
- Michelle Dessler: Good, we got the channels open: we're just waiting for the feeds
- George Mason: Do we know what dialect of Arabic Faheen speaks?
- Michelle Dessler: Yeah Nina gave us the information
- Tony Almeida: [Over the phone] Naiyeer is starting to talk, he says Bob Warner is the one who has dealings with Syed Ali. Of course Warner claims he doesn't know anything about it
- George Mason: Bring them both in, separate them, and turn up the heat
- Tony Almeida: You giving me the OK to arrest these people?
- George Mason: If they don't willingly, that's exactly what I'm giving you
- Tony Almeida: On what charge?
- George Mason: I don't care if it's jaywalking just bring them in
- Tony Almeida: [Before hanging up] ok you got it
- Tony Almeida: Reza, I'm going to need you to come with us
- Reza Naiyeer: Come with you where?
- Tony Almeida: Back to CTU
- Reza Naiyeer: For what?
- Tony Almeida: Further questioning
- Reza Naiyeer: I'm not going with you anywhere
- Tony Almeida: Look, I'm not arresting anybody: yet. But I will if you force me to. Now you're coming with us either way. How you do this is entirely up to you
- Bob Warner: [to Reza, while walking into the room] just do what the man wants
- Reza Naiyeer: I haven't done anything, he can't arrest me
- Bob Warner: Please, do this for me ok?
- President David Palmer: [while entering the room] good afternoon, oh you two haven't been formally introduced: Lynne Kresge, Sherry Palmer
- Lynne Kresge: [after shaking hands with Sherry] Mr. President, there were a few guidelines from Director Stanton I wanted to go over with you in this meeting
- President David Palmer: Lynn, I have invoked Executive Privilege and have granted Sherry a provisional security clearance
- Lynne Kresge: I see
- President David Palmer: This meeting is about the possibility that people inside this Administration who may be organizing against me
- Lynne Kresge: [Surprised] against you?
- Sherry Palmer: [while holding his hand] maybe you should bring Lynn up to speed on where we stand with Roger Stanton
- Lynne Kresge: [after sitting down] Mr. President?
- President David Palmer: Lynn, I'm sorry but things have been happening too fast today. Our problems are compounded by the possibility of a dissenting faction
- Lynne Kresge: And do you think Roger might be a part of that?
- President David Palmer: It's possible
- Lynne Kresge: If you don't mind me asking Sir what lead you to this hypothesis?
- Sherry Palmer: It troubles me to articulate this Lynn but the ambassador's helicopter accident solved a lot of Roger's issues
- Lynne Kresge: Sir, those issues were shared...
- Sherry Palmer: I am so sorry to interrupt but there's something else you probably don't know Lynn and that is Roger Stanton has been having secret meetings with the minority leader in the Senate and Eric Rayburn has been in attendance
- Lynne Kresge: Well, actually Sherry I am aware of those meetings. Their trying to forge bi-partisan base in order to stop "questionable" allocations that were being made by the Armed Services Committee and Sir the only reason I did not brief you on this earlier is because the vote is not for another two months but I have detailed records if you would like to take a look at them
- President David Palmer: This doesn't solve any of our problems today. We've got to avert a disaster. We can't do that if our own people are working against us. Now I need to know Roger Stanton is supporting this administration
- Sherry Palmer: I'm already working alongside Roger, Lynn I'd like you to keep track of your conversations with him as well. Now I've put together a list of people on the Hill who might be able to help in this matter
- Sherry Palmer: [Talking privately] I know your uncomfortable of me taking some of these tasks from you. After all I'm not "officially" on David's staff
- Lynne Kresge: Mrs. Palmer my discomfort has nothing to do with you being on his staff, my only concern is to protect and serve the President. I need to know the people around him are competent. I simply don't know you
- Sherry Palmer: Well, you seem like a pretty smart woman Lynn, so let me explain something to you clearly? David did not get here by himself: his had competent people around him for his entire life. Obviously, your one of them. Not necessarily the best but just the most recent, so have some respect for those who help put him in office so we'll just might be able to help you
- Lynne Kresge: [after noticing the President has been watching them talk, before leaving] fair enough
- President David Palmer: Be careful Sherry, I need Lynn. Don't turn this into a competition
- Sherry Palmer: I understand. I just need her to know that I'm not just here as "window dressing"
- President David Palmer: I'm sure she got the message
- Sherry Palmer: I'll behave. I promise
- President David Palmer: I don't have a lot of friends here today. In fact it seems like every time I turn around, somebody's always advising me to send you away
- Sherry Palmer: Then why don't you?
- President David Palmer: Because you may be the only one who can get information no one else can
- Rick Phillips: What's the time divisibility?
- Dockerty: From the time we break in until we get him secured, we estimate thirty seconds
- Rick Phillips: What about going through the roof?
- Dockerty: We're looking at the building plans to see if it's viable
- Nina Myers: It's not: he'll have sensors on the wall and foundations, you guys go in through the front door, that'll give him enough time to commit suicide
- Jack Bauer: [to Nina] If his so willing to die, why did he leave Los Angeles?
- Nina Myers: He doesn't want to be collateral damage that doesn't mean he won't up his life to protect the plan
- Jack Bauer: We can't afford to take a chance: we need this guy alive
- Rick Phillips: Gas canister?
- Nina Myers: Won't work, he knows all our protocols, he'll be prepared
- Rick Phillips: How does he know our protocols?
- Jack Bauer: She gave it to him: doesn't matter, Nina you're going in
- Nina Myers: What?
- Jack Bauer: He knows you
- Nina Myers: He also thinks I'm in prison
- Jack Bauer: You better make him believe you got out
- Nina Myers: The day a bomb is supposed to go off? He'll know I'm lying
- Jack Bauer: You're a good liar: the only way his going to know if you let him, we need thirty seconds
- Nina Myers: He is going to put a bullet in my head before I say Hello and then his going to turn the gun on himself
- Jack Bauer: We'll make sure he doesn't turn the gun on himself
- Dockerty: [greeting him as Jack gets off the plane] I'm agent Dockerty
- Jack Bauer: [shakes his hand, gestures to the other CTU agents that are also escorting Nina] Jack Bauer, agents Phillips and Harris
- Dockerty: We're all set up: all we need now is the location
- Jack Bauer: [to Nina] Where we going?
- Jack Bauer: [when she doesn't respond, pulls her closer towards him] What's the location?
- Nina Myers: The thrift store on North Collins
- Dockerty: What's the name?
- Nina Myers: Crescent Collectibles
- Jack Bauer: [to Dockerty] What's our transportation?
- Dockerty: three teams: three vehicles, their waiting for your orders
- Dockerty: [while checking on a computer, to Jack] Crescent Collectibles is in the De Anza District, that's not too far from here, we can set up base camp here at the airport
- Jack Bauer: Do it
- Rick Phillips: [referring to Nina while talk privately] What do you want to do with her?
- Jack Bauer: She stays with me
- Rick Phillips: Why? Can't one of my guys watch her? We'll stay out of the way
- Jack Bauer: We're going to use her
- Rick Phillips: [confused] Use her how?
- Jack Bauer: You'll see
