Malloy tells Mr. Endicott, "I understand you have a gun." Mr. Endicott nods and is allowed by Malloy to go to the closet, put his hands out of sight and actually retrieve the weapon. This would never happen in real life. A police officer would instead detain the person with handcuffs, then ask where the gun was and retrieve it himself, regardless of the person with whom the officer is dealing.
Mr. Endicott has threatened to shoot Malloy and Reed. Malloy enters Mr. Endicott's apartment through his window.
