Saddle up for some really bad Elvis jokes!
Mr-Fusion25 May 2016
With everything going on in 'Hard Rock', you'd think it'd collapse in on itself. Not only are Brisco and Bowler battling a protection racket and a hardened killer, but Bowler runs into a old flame, the town sheriff's an imitation of The King, and complicating matters is a gun slinging greenhorn. add to that a family conflict and that's more than enough, but the writers go and throw in a face-off with a bear.

It's a great episode, mostly because it juggles all of these concerns so smoothly. And the characters are actually pretty memorable (even that Presley guy, he's oddly likable). They're the kinds of people I wouldn't mind seeing again after our heroes ride off for next week.

The best episode yet.

I'm a fan of Bruce though he does appear in some dross however this show is excellent. Lord Bowler almost steals the show at times as he's such a fun character and is possibly my favourite side kick to Bruce across anything he's done.

This episode has a bit of everything but the addition of the Elvis Sheriff was a great move, another fun character.

I'm coming towards the end this series which is a shame as at the moment I want more episodes like this.

**CAUTION: Puns ahead!

Warning: Spoilers
*Spoiler/plot- The adventures of Brisco County Jr, Hard Rock. A small town has trouble with a gang that the local sheriff can't jail. Brisco and Bowler help him out and discover several new 'modern' trends. The town gets pacified and we meet a love interest lady from Lord Bowler's past.

*Special Stars- Bruce Campbell, Julius Carry, Christain Clemenson, William Frankenfather, Gary Hudson, Hawthorne James, JoNell Kennedy, Jeff Phillips Nicolas Surovy.

*Theme- Logical thinking and deduction can help criminal investigations.

*Trivia/location/goofs- When Lord Bowler explains how he knows the lead female, he says he was first sergeant in the 10th "Calvary", not pronouncing the correct word- "Ca-val-ry". The Mayor was named after two of Elvis Presley's close entourage: Mayor Sonny Red was named after Red West (Hollywood stuntman) and Sonny (Elvis close friend) West. Sheriff Aaron Viva was of course modeled after Elvis, and lots of 'little in' jokes were peppered throughout out the episode.

*Emotion- **CAUTION: Puns ahead! Many site gags abound in this show. Watch for them. One of the more comedic episodes with the inclusion of these roles: Sheriff Aaron 'Elvis-sheriff' Viva and 'Whip' Morgan. 'Whip' was so popular that this character came back in many other episodes.

Based on- The producers and writers wanted to recreate the entertainment of the 30s-50s theatrical cliff-hanger film serials. Most were westerns or sci-fi. They succeeded.
