Being needy can lead to being more needy
talonjensen27 April 2018
Once you read the story line on the main page you should know the entire plot, including the oh, so predictable ending twist.

However, Anne Francis did a great job, but the director should have showed her face more at the end for dramatic effect. In spite of how predictable it was I did give it a good rating.

I think the older versions of Hitchcock, Twilight Zone and Outer Limits generally attracted better quality actors than the newer versions. But, I am also taking into account the difference in acting standards over those decades.

What idiot would leave this lady all alone night after night?!
planktonrules19 April 2021
Julia (Anne Francis) is a frustrated lady, as she recently got married but night after night she finds herself all alone, as her hubby is out working with his brothers. Again and again, the husband promises to be home early but each time he doesn't return until late...and his wife has had enough.

One evening, Julia hears something outside her apartment window and calls the police. They arrive and look and cannot find anything, though it appears that the noise was a cat and nothing more. Later that same night, she does something really bizarre...she calls the police again to report a prowler even though there clearly isn't one. Why? Because she's lonely and wants SOMEONE to talk to...even a detective or cop! How does this end up causing problems in her marriage? See the show and find out for yourself.

This is a good but certainly not great episode. The twist is decent and Francis is good in the lead.

Saw I Coming a Mile Away
Hitchcoc1 June 2021
Other than watching the beautiful Anne Francis, the plot here is hackneyed. The new husband goes out every night on "business." Anne is left alone and is bored. When he doesn't show up at the promised time, she finds an excuse to call the police. Things take an interesting turn.

"Darn, I wish I did have a prowler."

Warning: Spoilers
My take on this episode might be a bit different than most viewers. How ditzy was newlywed Julia Reddy (Anne Francis) that she didn't know what her husband Marco (Edmund Hashim) did for a living? Wouldn't he have been out all hours of the night before they were married? He and his brothers called it a new business they were starting up, but what business gets started up in the middle of the night?

Anyway, Julia's loneliness gets the better of her, and when she gets stood up by her husband one more time when he promised to be home early, she gets skittish over some noise out on the fire escape and calls the police. Two patrolmen follow up finding nothing, and not satisfied, she calls again for a detective. It almost looks like she's putting a move on Detective Parks (Jack Ging), but he wisely avoids her little come on.

The ending here is among so many Hitchcock stories, almost a million to one shot. Husband Marco finally returns home, and is fingered by the detective as the leader of a gang robbing warehouses. He even married Julia under an assumed name! Ditzy not only describes Julia accurately, but the episode as well.
