Harmony gets an episode
katierose2957 March 2007
Warning: Spoilers
I really love Harmony. She's been wandering around the Buffyverse from the very beginning: Torturing the Scoobies, hanging out with Cordy, dating Spike, kidnapping Dawn, trying to kill everyone... Really, it's about time she got an episode. This isn't the most important episode of the season, but it does have some really funny parts. I recommend that you give it a shot.

"Harm's Way" revolves around Harmony. She's having trouble fitting in as Angel's assistant. He's distant and often annoyed with her. Plus, since losing that fight with Spike in "Destiny" he's been in a really bad more. None of Harm's co-workers like her either and Team Angel ignores her. When Spike leaves to find Buffy without even saying good-bye, Harm is sad. Feeling like she doesn't matter, she decides to have drinks with the one person too soft hearted to turn her down... Fred. At the bar, Harm flirts with a guy and, the next morning she wakes up to find him dead in her bed.

Harmony panics, sure that Angel is going to kill her. To make matters worse, the dead guy is a lawyer who Wolfram & Hart need to make peace with a warring clans of demons. Harmony begins to suspect that she's set-up and starts investigating the dead guy. People grow suspicious of her behavior, (Lorne, Fred, etc...) so Harm knocks them out and locks them in a closet. It turns out that another vampire secretary had framed Harm in an effort to get her job. Harm ends up staking her, right in the middle of the demon summit. Angel, luckily believes her story and tells her that she should have come to him. Harm is still feeling depressed, though. She runs into Spike who says that he can't go find Buffy because it would blow his heroic sacrifice. (Really, I think he's just scared) Spike then proceeds to cheer up Harm by telling her that she does matter. After all, that other vampire nearly killed her. Harmony smiles, pleased to be so important and hated.

There are some good parts to thins episode. Harmony is just so funny and cute. She's putting unicorn stickers on her thermos of blood and fighting with chop sticks. She's hanging out with Fred, who's just the sort of woman that Harm aspires to be...except not so flat chested. She's brushing her vampire fangs with an electric tooth brush and ordering camels from the catering company. Then when she tries to explain things to Angel, she says, "I don't have a soul. I have to try harder" and I feel so bad for her. Honestly, I think she's a great addition to the show. I wish Harmony had been made Angel's assistant seasons ago. Plus it's pretty funny that she can't remember the other girl's name or even who she is. Harm's always been bad at that. She couldn't even keep her minions straight when she was trying to take over Sunnydale. Finally, I like Spike saying good-bye to Angel. "You want me to tel Buffy anything?" Spike asks. Angel's reply, "Yeah, tell her you're an idiot" cracks me up every time.

On the down side, why do Wolfram & Hart own the police? Throughout season's one & two of "Angel" Kate made it pretty clear that the police hated Wolfram & Hart and all they stood for. Also, I'm not sure that Harm is a "right biter." Just last episode she bit Spike on the left.

My favorite part of the episode: Wolfram & Hart's recruitment video. Angel's inspirational slogan, "If you don't kill, we won't kill you" must fill all their clients with a lot of confidence.

In perfect Harmony
Joxerlives21 April 2012
Warning: Spoilers
The Good; All things Harmony, love the demon summit stuff and Fred and Harm bonding. Great bitchfight between Harmony and her rival. The WR&H corporate video is also great they should have got Troy McClure to do the voice-over.

The Bad; It's lightweight and inconsequential but it's meant to be.

Best line; Fred; "I'm sure Angel can help you" Harmony; "Angel's not a helper, he's a chopper" (as her friend Eli found out)

Jeez, how did they get away with that? You feel so sorry for poor lonely Harm, just because she's evil doesn't means she doesn't have feelings.

Apocalypses: 5

Angel Clichés In disguise; 8

Fred; 1 Gunn Groo; 1Cordy Spike; 3-Buffy, Anya, Harmony

Kinky dinky: Harmony 'sluts it up' and beds a guy she picks up in a bar. She comments that Fred doesn't have 'a lot up front', sad but true and something she's a little self-conscious about to judge by Spin the Bottle. Fred actually knows that Wes and Knox are after her, you think back to her remark at the end of Waiting in the Wings. She thinks both are hot. Harmony offers to show Angel her abs. The demons refer to Angel as a 'filthy man whore'.

Captain Subtext; The girls doubt Wesley could be interested in Fred because 'Everyone knows he's...muffins'. Vamps consider live people to be 'straight'. Despite implying that a male vamp would have to be gay to bite another man Harmony eyes up the necks of the office girls and has bitten Willow in the past. Fred and Harmony's night out resembles a date

Know the face, different character; 5

Parking garages; yep, where Harm dumps the body 9,

Buffy characters on Angel; 16. Wetherby, Collins and Smith. Angel, Cordy, Oz, Spike, Buffy, Wes, Faith, Darla, Dru, The Master, Anne, Willow and Harmony. POSSIBLY The First Evil

Questions and observations; Always thought that Harmony's rival looked familiar, finally recognised her as Karen, one of John Lithgow's students from 3rd Rock from the Sun. Angel and Spike are still bashed up from Destiny. We knew Spike and Fred were chummy but he seems to be on good terms with Lorne too. Was Harm ever really popular or did she just ride on CC's coatails? WR&H 'own' the LAPD which must have been news to Kate. It strikes me that if you really are an astronaut it must be a useless pickup line as no one actually believes you. Spike comes back to Harm in the end, shows his sensitive side and appears to finally give up any hope of ever being with Buffy

Marks out of 10;7/10 a lot of folks loathe this ep but I rather like it

I totally wouldn't have hit you over he head and put you in the closet if I didn't have a really good reason
SleepTight66610 March 2007
Warning: Spoilers
I totally wouldn't have hit you over he head and put you in the closet if I didn't have a really good reason - Even though 'Harmony' is a dimwitted trollop, she is a fun dimwitted trollop. I don't think 'Harmony' added much to the show but instead stole screen time from characters that I was actually interested in, still, this episode almost makes it worth it as 'Harmony' at least provided plenty of laughs, it's always fun seeing how she's going to screw everything up again. The episode also had some of my favorite comedy moments of the show, like the teaser with the Wolfram & Heart commercial - If you don't kill, we won't kill you, 'Harmony' trying to be interested in someone or guessing their names is also always a big hoot and don't forget the scene where she's drinking out of her thermos and begins to moan as if she's having an orgasm. That scene always cracks me up. The episode also didn't have much of 'Spike', which was good for a change, it's a shame he didn't actually leave as it would have prevent me from getting more headaches because of his radioactive hair color, I did like it when he asked 'Angel' if he had a message for 'Buffy' - Tell her you're a moron. At the end of the episode, the person (or vamp) who was behind all of this was a so called 'Tamika' who was just simply jealous of 'Harmony', I loved their Charlie's Angels-ish fight scene, it was the best b!tch fight on ANGEL as the show didn't have many of those. I think it was a very fun episode. Just fun. GUNN: All is well, oh, powerful one. The summit can proceed. VINJI LEADER: Killer must be found! Killer must be punished! ANGEL: Tell 'em we're on it. GUNN: You have our oath. ANGEL: ...Be disemboweled. VINJI LEADER : Filthy man whore! How dare you! You... ANGEL: He meant, be patient! The whore man is a novice in your tongue and makes foolish errors. We make fun of him, yes? (8.5 out of 10)

The One Where Harmony Gets Framed...
taylorkingston6 October 2014
Warning: Spoilers
I absolutely love this episode. It brings Harmony into more of the spotlight. Gets us to like her even more, and makes us want her to become a full cast member. I have always loved Harmony, ever since she was a Sunnydale High student. Then when she became a vampire and started dating Spike, that was even better. I feel like she works being a vampire better than a human.

In this episode, we get to see a whole forty minutes of Harmony. Well, pretty much. The episode is entirely based on her character. Since she works at Wolfram & Hart, and they have a zero tolerance policy for drinking human blood, since Angel took over, she has been very good in keeping her fangs to herself. But then she finds a guy she met at a bar, the previous night, dead, in her bed. He was drained of his blood, and she can't remember what happened. She needs to find out if she did this. It turns out, she didn't. She was framed by a jealous co-worker. And get this. The other girl only framed her, because Harmony got a job she wanted. How lame. I guess people have done worse for less. Anyway, she finds the girl who really did it, kills her, because she was a vampire, and clears her name.

Overall, I give this episode a 10 out of 10.

Funniest episode in the BuffyVerse.
hassankukucr23 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I didn't think of Harmony much, she is often used as a comic relief character but it's usually from a third person's pov. This episode changes that, it's funny and a great example of character building all from Harm's pov. The part about trying harder due to lacking a soul, Angel's apathy, the shoving in a closet, all great. This one is definitely rewatch material.

Another Character-Focused Ep
Samuel-Shovel10 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
In "Harm's Way", feeling underappreciated and isolated at work, Harmony goes to a bar with Fred and ends up picking up a guy. She wakes up the next morning with him dead next to her. The man turns out to be a liaison between two feuding demon factions currently in peace negotiation with Wolfram & Hart as the intermediary. Worried she'll be killed for this due to WR&H's zero tolerance policy, she tries to cover up the murder, only to discover that she's been framed for it.

It turns out another jealous secretary wanting Harmony's job framed her for the murder. A fellow vamp, the two duke it out before Harmony eventually stakes her.

Another tertiary character gets their day in the sun! I'm digging these character-focused episodes, giving each cast member their own little story that really helps them grow and develop for the audience.

I'm surprised Harmony got one if I'm being honest. She always felt like a but if a background character, a surprise but a welcome one.

That being said, this episode is average by Angel standards but that still means it's fairly good. I like the scenes involving her and Fred. Those two really take center stage here. Most of the other gang is forced to take a back seat. I doubt we'll ever see this much Harmony in an episode again but I'm glad we got it for once.
