Edith tells the story of how she got fired from the Sunshine Home, detailing the events that happened in the Edith Gets Fired (1979) episode of All in the Family (1971).
Jean Stapleton's first appearance as Edith Bunker since "Too Good Edith" (the series finale of "All In The Family" (1971); prior to the series being retooled as "Archie Bunker's Place" (1979).
The Bunkers house is shown for the first time this season. The previous two episodes only includes scenes of the bar, the bank and Murray's mother house. Although the Bunker home would continue to be featured, scenes primarily took place at the bar.
Edith (Jean Stapleton) only appeared in four episodes of "Archie Bunker's Place" (five, if you count the hour-long Thanksgiving episode as two episodes), all of which were in the show's very first season. This episode was her first appearance on the spin-off show (after missing the first two episodes), and her last appearance was in episode 14. The character was absent from the last 10 episodes of the first season (which is why she was shown to pick up a job with hours that would make her scarce - which actually made little sense, as the Bunkers had a child to care for) before the character was killed off in the first episode of the show's second season (after Jean Stapleton left the show to pursue a broader range of roles).
The disturbed patient who kept trying to kiss Edith previously played a character who was disturbed in a different way on "Archie and the KKK Part 1" (1977).
