My Mother, the Car is a good, solid episode of Arrested Development that explores the relationship between Michael and his mother Lucille (Walter). In it, Lucille wants to have a "surprise" birthday party held in her honour and Lindsay and Michael agree to have one. However, the party is ruined when only Lucille and Michael actually go. Michael confronts his siblings and asks them to come to another party- but once again, Michael and Lucille are the only ones there. When they leave, Lucille crashes their car- and makes it look like Michael was the driver.
Lucille, typically the series' villainess, is at her most evil in this episode, but it's a brilliant episode for still having some sympathetic moments for Lucille- no one goes to her party and she explains why she framed Michael. Also on the side are a good subplot for George Michael and Maeby, Lindsay with a hilarious shirt, and one of the best "On the next" segments. Arrested Development is doing what it does best in relying on its wonderful characters for laughs.
